@LysanderSA Because the individuals working on it had time and talent. Disney has unreasonable time constraints and with story changes I can only imagine how much re work they have to do. Then there is their DEI hiring practices. You dont get the best in the industry that way. And maybe another reason is that back in 1997, not everyone was using CGI in everything. And so you have all the talent in the industry working on that one film where as today, they are spread to thin. Those things absolutely have an effect on quality.

@OhHayFrands Suikoden and Suikoden II are some of my fav PS1 games. Still got them on my shelf.

People don't understand there are really two types of modern economies, exporting and the US. Everyone wants access to US markets. We have historically given everyone access with conditions. Since the end of the cold war there have been none. All we are doing is adding the conditions back again.

This isnt so much a left vs right issue. Its a bureaucracy vs population issue. Right now the bureaucracy is controlling the government with the lack of tech. Modernize it and you vastly reduce the need for bureaucracy. Right now that is a threat to the left, since their people largely control it. But if this happened in the 1950s it would have been the right in control. At the end of the day though, this is a fight to the death for the bureaucratic class. You will see more and more violence because of it. If you dont believe that all you have to do is look at China. The bureaucracy of today is little different than the legions of eunuchs that ran the Chinese empire.

I killed a terrormorph at level 2 and had to use every round from every weapon I had. At lower levels you need all those different types of rounds. Bet they do a "gun runners" DLC like in Fallout.

I grow cane sugar in my yard. Stuff is full of omega threes and anti oxidants. Super high in calories though. But sugar isnt bad for you. Now High Fructose Corn Syrup, probably aint the best for folks.
3
None of that matters with the horrible writing teams they have in Hollywood now. You need a good or even decent writer who has a plan from start to finish. That will never happen. Everyone needs to put their stamp on it to make it their own.
3
@JonahsWail People should have known what was coming when JJ Abrams was given Star Wars. Since then almost everything has gone down hill as far as movies and whatnot. Such are the times.

Same thing is happening in Oakland California. Road crews have refused to work anymore because they keep getting weapons pointed at them and the policy there, due to political pressure, wont do anything to curb it. So the roads there look like a third world nations.

The flaw in your argument is that these people on the left aren't against masculine aggression. They are against white masculine aggression. Any time a person of color is aggressive or violent the excuse brigade comes out to make any and all reasons for it. The white woman who was raped in Haiti by a Black man blamed racism against Blacks for the rape. The two women who were raped and murdered in Turkey it was because of colonialism, even though Turkey was never colonized. I can keep going, the list is pretty much endless. This is anti white. And its overt. And even people who arent white are beginning to see it. Smart people will know where this ends. It always ends, unfortunately, in an over correction. The last 3 decades have been a nightmare for race relations, and it keeps getting worse. How did we regress so much in the name of progress?
2
My side smart your side dumb. This is just political tribalism wrapped in a scientific lab coat.
2
Gas pricesa, adjusted for inflation, are still below historical norms. Something to think about. This is of course dependent on where you live. Places like California pay much more than the mid west, for a number of reasons, most of them self inflicted. You cant cry about inflation and then judge everything in nominal dollars when in real dollars they are lower in actual cost. This is the literal definition of talking out of both sides of you mouth.
2
The median house in 1960a was only 1200 square feet. Currently the median size home built in the US is double that at 2400 square feet. Then you have the added taxes on everything, the added building codes, etc etc. You cant really make an apples to apples comparison between today and even the 1980s let alone with the 1970s and earlier. And mind you, this is the median home. Not even a lower middle class or a working class home. The home my mother grew up in was 600 square feet, and that was her parents, her and her brother.

There is an easy way, you give them, the bureaucrat, a cut of the money saved. Say 10%. You would see budgets being slashed of waste. Same in the military. If the rank and file got a cut of the savings, you would see the military budget get cut in half.
2
@alessioraccagni3753 Nah, the price to build one is roughly 150 bucks. Thats with American labor. If a company wants to charge 8k for it, thats up to them. They will just go bankrupt.
2
Studios dont let artists make their art. This goes for video games as well as TV and movies. Because of costs everything must be perfect, everything is test screened and then re cut and re re cut it then do re writes and re shoots. Its no longer art at that point. Its content. Its lifeless. Its sterile. Now dont get me wrong. The Acolyte was never going to be art. It was a self indulgent piece of content at best, ideological nonsense at worst. But the executives trying to put a tie on a turd, well, thats what the Acolyte is. A turd with a tie. There are very few artists in Hollywood or filmmaking anymore.

@PhunkBustA hate to be that guy even people in the Renaissance called themselves "modern". It was just a designation to separate them from the Classical era.
2
Thing about the AfD. They have a website, that is unfortunately in German. If they made it in English, the globalist left would be less successful in pasting them as far right. They are so far right they are led by a lesbian woman, Alice Weidel, who's partner is a Sri Lankan woman. The AfD's biggest sin is that they are nationalists, an unapologetic about it.
2
@Olivaro10 most of the original jurassic park is animatronics. There is like 5 minutes of cgi in that movie. That's where the genius is it. They used both and it's difficult to tell where one starts and the other begins. I wonder if that kind of talent still exists in Hollywood?
2
This is naive. There have always been homeless. And there always will be. The question really is how to limit the damage.
2
@graysaltine6035 Thats a good point. Tom Cruises character is the stand in for Americans, or any non Japanese person, to experience an alien culture. Hes not a hero, hes not even really a character. Hes just a vehicle for the audience to experience the film.
2
They still have factories in the US, well Honda and Toyota do. Honda has factories in Ohio, Indiana, Georgia and Alabama. Toyota in Kentucky, Texas, Mississippi, Alabama, currently have a plant under construction in North Carolina.
2
Starfield feels like a game that is still in Alpha. More and more companies are doing this because of investor demand. Its a shame. Its why the best games now are from small indie studios. They dont have that pressure. Games are art. And rushed art is crap art. Imagine the Medici's rushing Michelangelo or Brunelleschi. Starfield is like da Venci doodling on a cafe napkin and tossing it on his desk only to forget it. Its unfinished. And it shows.
2
Buy backs should not be allowed, or if they are they should be taxed at 50% of their value.
2
This guy is gonna get back pain from all the fallacies he is tossing about.
2
@Tespri Sure its true. Native peoples lived and farmed those lands for thousands of years. But just because you dont know how to do it, it cant be done. How self centered do you have to be?
2
Rumor is they axed Chief Crowley because she was complaining about budget cuts. Id also like to point out that Crowley was on the Office of Homeland Security Advisory Council that supposedly advises the President. I'd wager this isnt over yet.
2
@sableyez Thats why it will happen slow, like most union jobs. As they retire. Most of these guys are getting older, typically retire at 50 to 55ish. Average age of the members is 49. do the math.
2
@sableyez You make the assumption there are younger people. have you looked at the American demographic pyramid lately? Few want to do that work now. Why do you think the men that do work there work all that overtime? Because they cant hire anyone. Either they cant pass the security clearances or they have some other issue that makes the unhireable. I get it though. thats always the union line. And I think automation in this case is dumb. Most folks dont remember a few years back when the pipeline got hacked and the east coast was out of gas for a week. Do people want that to happen to the ports too? Sometimes a job is so critical it needs to be less efficient so it can be more safe. But the reasoning behind it is different I guess.
2
Yup the best thing they could have did with Mando is keep all known previous Star Wars characters out of it.
2
@desaranfenrir9295 Thats the issue, its not my log in information, it would have been my fathers. And if you read most of the typical digit user forms the information is non transferable. So again, you dont really own it. Which is my point.
2
This happened with the Walking Dead as well, when Glenn gets killed. It stops being a fantasy show about zombies and survival. It becomes a show about war and fighitng at that point. The same happened in the Last of Us 2 when Joel gets kill. Oddly in the same way. I think it has a lot to do with how the characters were killed. Their heads and faces were destroyed. Its the ultimate insult. They are no more, nothing of the person that they were remains. I dont think many authors understand the impact of these kinds of deaths on an audience.

@dantethewanderer4989 Ireland took in a bunch of Muslims. There were probably a lot of plants in those numbers.

If Trump was guilty of anything, it was a single misdemeanor charge. But they wouldnt be satisfied with that. They wanted blood and they got nothing now.

"military is where we waste a lot of our money." Military spending is between 11-14% of total government spending. A lot of folks think we spend much more on in relative to our total spending than we do. We spend more on servicing the national debt than we do on our military now. Social services(SSI, Medicare and Medicaid) account for 64% of Federal spending. That said there is a lot of fraud waste and abuse in the military. Imagine how much is in the other places.

Remember when Pakistan housed Osama bin Laden for over a decade. The Paki's have no friends. They have constantly been the aggressors and a huge Blue Falcon.
1
all these government jobs with systems that are 60 years old are simply welfare programs. Like the legions of school administrators who do nothing except actually get in the way of the very few who make things run.
1
The Big Mac has always used the same beef patty that was on McDonalds cheese burgers and hamburgers, 1/10 of a pound. I think a lot of people assume it has the same patty as the 1/4 pounder with cheese. It never has. Its why if I have to eat a McDonalds burger its always the double quarter pounder. Its the only one with actual meat on it.

@JonahsWail Lets not get it twisted, Legends had its issues too. Luuke and Luuuke. lol Some of Legends is just as soulless, just as much a cash grab, as Disney Star Wars.

A huge issue that most people are not looking at is population. The gamer population is going to start shrinking soon. I started gaming in 1979. I am 49. I am a Gen Xer. A lot of Millennials are gamers, but they arent making any more Millennials. A lot of Zoomers are gamers, but they are less than half the size of Millennials. And then there is Gen Alpha, which isnt even half as large as it was suppose to be. What about the generations after, ever smaller. Ever fewer gamers. But you know what makes things cheaper, scale. What happens when your scale goes the wrong way and the ability to provide a cloud service becomes more expensive per person instead of cheaper due to a growing population? People are utterly ignorant to what is about to happen to most industries business models.

Starflight was an amazing game. I played it on my PC when it came out in 1986. Borderlands is no Starflight, even after near 40 years.

Complicit or incompetent. She needs to pick one.

Firewalk studios looks like a classic pump and dump scheme the more I look at it. Sony got involved with them, ProbablyMonsters, in 2021 to develop Concorde. Then they agreed to sell Firewalk to Sony two years later in 2023. At which time ProbablyMonsters culled all its other subsidiaries. Take the money, step down and run. Sony got scammed. I bet someone at Sony got a huge kick back to set this deal up. I would be checking everyones bank accounts who had anything to do with this.
1
That would require a change to the constitution. And thats not going to happen.
1
@baxykilafsh1313 The US Federal government ran off tariffs and alcohol tax stamps until 1913. What folks like you dont get, is nations that export need the US market. If not their national economy implodes overnight. In the US people just wont be able to go to walmart and buy junk. The two are not the same.
1
Black Panther did well because the character Black Panther in Civil War was amazing. The movie Black Panther was an actual step backwards. It, like Captain Marvel, did well because it was in the whole run up to Infinity War.

Putin doesnt have anything left. If he did, he would take Ukraine.

You can tell this is an organic protest. There are zero signs in English.

These are the same people who locked their citizens down for two years during covid. They dont care about freedom. Dont let them BS you.

The issue here is that everyone in the United States has their rights protected under the Constitution, citizens, legal residence and even illegal aliens. This mans right to review his legal status, which was protected under a previous court order, was violated. Thats all the court ruled. They wrote the following, "properly requires the government to 'facilitate' Abrego Garcia's release from custody in El Salvador and to ensure that his case is handled as it would have been had he not been improperly sent to El Salvador." Facilitate does not mean force. They can ask, El Salvador can say no. The issue here is the Trump admin did not abide by the standing legal order. All they had to do is go to that Judge and say, we want you to lift said order because Garcia has now been classified a terrorist due to his association to MS-13. And the judge would have lifted the order. The law protects all of us or none of us. The Trump admin messed up. They need to fix this. They dont even need to bring him back, just go to the judge and let him know so he can lift the order allowing him to stay. Thats all.
