He cancelled subsidies to provincially- or municipally-owned units, but they remained public housing. Or if any did not, it was a local decision. I wish you well in your career at the CBC.

But yes, it's arguable that it has also resulted in indirect harms, such as what we see today. Mind you, as I understand the situation gay people aren't the greatest supporters of this trans ideology. Many if not most feel it has gone way too far or are simply against it. Many of them would just as soon pull the 'G' out of the alphabet-soup abbreviation.

I can only assume that Modi's office tacitly pre-cleared the remarks (which included no actual criticism of India) since the US will not risk a chill in relations with India. Right now it's one of their highest priorities. And no doubt there's general agreement that this will soon fade from the headlines on its own (except in Canada, and that won't matter).
