"In the latest year for which CRA data is available, 27.5 million people filed a tax return. Of that, over 9.1 million people or one-third of all filers paid no federal income tax that year. Thus 18.4 million tax filers paid all federal and provincial income tax." —Canadian Taxpayers Federation

Mein Kampf 2.0 😂

People don't report crimes. Because they don't see any point in it. The 911 dispatcher gives off attitude like she/he doesn't care, like you're imposing, like it doesn't matter. The cops ordinarily don't show up for many hours. When they do, they listen and take the information, then shrug and leave. The courts...well, you know.

I will be going out of my way not to go back there. Liquor and wine only. The beer is colder at Metro anyway, checkout is quicker, hours are later.

Virtue signalling: "after First Nation [sic] members fall ill." It doesn't matter who the victims are. That they're human beings is all that matters. Un-sanctimonious headline: "Ontario takes action against chemical plant after area residents fall ill."

Leave your blood feuds in the country you left. If you really can't forgo indulging them, then follow your conscience and your heart... by returning to it.

That cat 5 seconds from the end was your thumbnail and you missed it, Global.

Trudeau is in desperation mode and quite rightly, too. He needs to do anything and everything he can to raise his public approval ratings or MPs will start discussing showing him the door. I mean discussing it more.
9
Canada is now like the US: the majority community is quite law-abiding, similar to Europe and Japan for rates of committing crimes. Certain other parts of the community commit crimes at very high rates. Let's start by openly confirming this and then begin talking and brainstorming about what can be done. It's the whole country's choice: more crime or less crime.

@josdav07 Yet it's the dog who will be euthanized.

Just know, Albertans, that a great many people east of Manitoba take your side in this matter. Watch as every region of the country tosses this government out the window in a few months. A Conservative landslide is brewing, e.g., in Ontario. Correction: heaves it out the window with considerable force.

Video title bears zero relation to actual video. Not found or reflected in it in any way. Why use a statement unrelated to the video as the title? Amateur hour, as usual.🙄
9
@sadnucksfan Just as I thought! Not one unit of public housing was "sold off" by the Harper government or anyone else. He cancelled subsidies to provincially- or municipally-owned units, but they remained public housing. Or if any did not, it was a local decision. I wish you well in your career at the CBC.
9
Omg, the first fully rational and knowledge-based comment I've seen. Thank you.

When did the term forest fire get replaced with the 10x more dramatic-sounding word "wildfire"? All I know is that it was during the last five or ten years, right when the quality of journalism fell off a cliff.
9
@jeanbrunma But these overruns were just jaw-droppingly colossal. Staggering, stupendous. Hundreds of per cent, ten of billions of dollars. If what you say is true, fine. But let it be proved by an inquiry. (Which will never happen without a change of government.)

She is, yeah. Problem is, can you imagine anyone owning one if they weren't disturbed?

@Kingdennissinned That's a tough one. I favour gay marriage for its indirect benefits to society. (Not so much on the grounds of human rights.) But yes, it's arguable that it has also resulted in indirect harms, such as what we see today. Mind you, as I understand the situation gay people aren't the greatest supporters of this trans ideology. Many if not most feel it has gone way too far or are simply against it. Many of them would just as soon pull the 'G' out of the alphabet-soup abbreviation.

Surprising level of support for Canada from the NSC. I'd give it about a 5 out of 10, which in the context is really a 7.5. I can only assume that Modi's office tacitly pre-cleared the remarks (which included no actual criticism of India) since the US will not risk a chill in relations with India. Right now it's one of their highest priorities. And no doubt there's general agreement that this will soon fade from the headlines on its own (except in Canada, and that won't matter).

[Of the Houthis:] "Their next aggression may be more about defending themselves." Excuse me, but that doesn't make any sense.🤨

The Freedom Convoy wasn't on private property, it was on Parliament Hill. The Freedom Convoy wasn't calling for the destruction of any ethnic / racial / religious group using the same language and rhetoric as the Naw Zees. The Freedom Convoy also welcomed people of all political persuasions.

Having a military is not some sort of optional frill. It's vital. Breaking news: Canada needs re-building in absolutely every single area. Housing, doctors, addiction care, defense, the works. Never mind a brand-new bag, Papa needs a brand-new everything.
8
Quite right. 🤔I want to know why I can't say such things in these pages.🤨 When I try, it's Poof! and they disappear.

On the plus side, they'll now have the time available to return to therapy.

The high-speed fatal crash was tragic, but the aspect of the fire would be 1000x more newsworthy in its own right if the car had caught fire driving safely in its lane. Perplexity: "Based on the available data, it is not more likely for a Tesla to burst into flames after a high-speed collision with a concrete pillar compared to a comparable internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicle. In fact, the evidence suggests that electric vehicles (EVs) like Tesla are generally less prone to fires than ICE vehicles."
8
@misamisatv You did ignore the original statement and hurled bullying abuse. Being on the left means everything is justified, no matter what. This is the problem. Excessive self-approval. It needs to be examined.
8
Keeping American prosperity and wealth safe means addressing the worst threats to global security. World stability isn't free, sorry to break it to you. But it's worth it.
8
The lead-in to this clip was an actual Christmas shopping ad for Walmart. Real class, YouTube.
8
Spoken like an actual Russian.😂
8
My eyes flitting past the thumbnail registered it as a Hillary Clinton news feature. 😯 And was I really all that mistaken? Not really, no. Not nearly enough. 😱
8
I don't appreciate it when a reporter turns into a ham actor trying to scare me. Cut the crap.
8
@RB-kr1ww Russia, China, Iran and North Korea have ganged up on Russia's smaller, weaker, harmless neighbour, Ukraine, to commit mass atrocities against it. Ukraine had not even so much as tossed a piece of litter over the Russian border. So don't talk to me about warmongering.
8
Prime Minister Peter Pan: "Hey, I'm dealing with this. Canada is short about 4 million places to live, and not many are being built, so I'll admit another 500,000 people a year. I'm also giving out free hard drugs. Combined, these measures will end homelessness quickly."

Steve: Real name Priya?

Now let's see Vladimir Kara-Murza's speeches shown on Russia-1! Yeah, no I didn't think so....🤨 Hypocrite.

Headline: Trudeau Departs Irritated India Rumour: Modi to declare a national holiday.

That is excellent. It means the allies of the US have good quality kit. Long live the US and its allies everywhere. Heaven help us if the Authoritarian Axis ever surpasses the US in this regard.

Helicopter money
7
@Rocksteady-hl2ks I bet you don't, Dmitri.
7
@cacampbell3654 That's an orthodox Western liberal's take, but there's a lot more to international relations than pieties like that. Friendships between countries, like flowers, grow in dirt — as long as they're watered. Anyway, Modi is Modi, he's not India.
7
You didn't spot the word "Thirty" on the line above. If I were a teller and it was under my limit I wouldn't go along with that. I'd make one or two phone calls to verify, and if that didn't satisfy me I'd say no. But you can be certain the teller at National Bank saw it and accepted it. No teller misses that.
7
The sheer gall is infuriating. Simply because they face crushing defeat in next year's election, they claim — merely claim, mind you — that they will do what voters have demanded for years, what they kept calling voters "rheighcyst" for demanding. Suddenly it's not rheighcyst, it's ok! It's sound policy! 🤬Grrr. Vote them out!
7
@tylerdurden4006 I have great respect for you as the Chief Coroner of Toronto, Dr. Durden, but you shouldn't be posting conclusions on YouTube before your investigation begins.
7
@Yuri-z2y Forgetting 1989, Vitaly? The communist government of the USSR fell in 1990, the year following its ignominious withdrawal from Afghanistan. Ukraine War = Afghanistan 2.0
7
@DR-nw7xn Thank you. My rebuke to him was removed by some 3rd party.
7
@alhill1767 I didn't see her smiling, almost not at all. Her face looked like that of someone who's received devastating news. It showed shock and sorrow; nothing of relief. Either his return is a great inconvenience or she is a highly unusual person.

Finance Minister Chrystia Antoinette: 'Let them eat bugs.'

The reporter speaks English like an average Grade 11 student. Clearly she's very lightly-read.
