The City of Toronto is very selective about whom it allows to take over its streets. A few weeks ago, parents wanted to block streets to protest Ontario education policies. Police closed the roads pre-emptively to prevent it. Animal Farm: "All animals are equal, but some are more equal than others."

"We have reason to believe there will be a public demonstration in this area causing disruption to traffic. In order to prevent any disruption to traffic, we have closed the area to traffic, blockading it with garbage trucks. This will also prevent the expression of what our Dear Leader informs us are unacceptable views. Thank you."

Yep, the Mayor Chow word-salad NDP approach: (1) Re-name things at a cost of millions, (2) divide people, (3) raise taxes (re-naming them "revenue tools" of course), (4) divert visiting out-of-town shoppers to Vaughan and Mississauga. Well, I can re-name things too: I hereby re-name her Kamala Chow.
61
"Strong criticism from across the country." You mean from a tiny minority of activists. And you forgot about the strong approval across the country. Hoping to lose viewers are you, CP24? May your wish be granted.
52
I am sorry for the great loss to Const. O'Brien's family and friends. It is a loss to his community too, and his country.
50
Thank you, Mayor Olivia Flake. This re-naming stems from an inaccurate portrayal of Henry Dundas in a 2020 film. He opposed slavery. He simply advocated a gradual ban as the fastest way to get it through Parliament. Of Dundas' recommended gradualism, Oxford history professor Brian Young says "Anything other than this would have put back the cause of abolition by decades."
50
Surprising. I mean, he looks like such a nice guy.😄
46
Look at him suddenly pretending to care about Canadians now that his party has just 25% support. It's all part of a nauseating charm offensive which has just started in the past few days. (I stress the word offensive.) Sorry, Prime Minister Peter Pan, not buying it. We can all see right through you.😠
41
CP24 "Political Analyst" Scott Reid: A career professional Liberal: his first job 30 yrs. ago was at Liberal Party of Canada headquarters. Then he was spokesman for...you guessed it, a Liberal prime minister. CP24: "Viewers need political analysis. Hey, let's hire the most Liberal Liberal ever!"
39
This is why the Bayview Village Mall refused a subway station when it was offered/proposed. It was a good decision.
37
It's like going from Broadview out to Dufferin, Royal York or maybe Kipling. Remember, this place is only about two-thirds the area of Toronto. (And I mean Toronto, not the GTA.) All this should've been done weeks ago, except Hamas was shooting people trying to walk away. They want their human shields. There's no major difference between Hamas and ISIS.
37
Breaking news: The world doesn't care what Prime Minister Peter Pan thinks about anything. Only about two or three million morally and mentally lost Canadians have any real interest. It'd shock me if there was even one non-Canadian reporter there. (Unless there was some nice food and free drinks being served. But probably not even then.)
35
He said police released a photo and a description of the suspects. So where is the description, CP24? Give it to us, or do you not think you should? You should. Creating fear as they did, these have all the earmarks of tare a wrist incidents. Don't you want to get these suspects apprehended before any subsequent escalation to serious harm?
34
Canadians: "It's been 8 years of you harming Canada's interests and tainting our reputation. You're seriously imperilling our future. Could you possibly do any worse?" Justin Trudeau: "Just watch me."
34
Justin Trudeau, stop interfering in the news business entirely. Stop passing laws regulating the news, stop funding private media, stop all of it. Leave journalism to the journalists and back off! Defund the CBC while you're at it. People shouldn't get their news from the government, period. The risks are enormous—to Canadians, I mean. I realize that to you it's a political boon, but that's exactly what's wrong with it.
30
(1) In fairness, the frequent pro-H^^^^ demonstrations downtown are 'hate-motivated incidents' too. (2) The spokesman at 1:06, who clearly has native-English-speaker fluency, nonetheless says "reinsure [the community" instead of "reassure." Quality leadership there.😂 Companies in the global reinsurance business must feel threatened by this new competitor!😄
30
It's insurance for the landlord, but the tenant pays the premiums. Great for landlords, a further expense for tenants. It opens up the possibility of charging higher rent in the first place. Great for landlords, a further expense for tenants. Heads they win, tails you lose.
28
CP24: "Breaking news! Trudeau makes demand, announces sanctimonious opinion!" World: [total silence, no tumbleweeds, not even crickets] Crickets: "Hey man, I don't just start chirping for no reason."
27
Well, I'm shocked! PM Peter Pan, the Condemner-in-Chief, has finally after 8½ years condemned something which he should've done. I haven't kept count, but his record now stands at approximately 1-and-2,000. What an improvement.😄
26
Denouncing and condemning long lists of things and people are really all he does. From one hour to the next he's either the Condemner-In-Chief or the Denouncer-In-Chief. This Peter Pan has done nothing real to address Canada's problems. Unless you count adding to them.
25
Besides 'drive carefully' and 'obey posted speed limits,' the moral here, based on the apparent condition of the three cars, might be: Drive the heaviest car you can afford.
24
Would you like to hire me as a headline writer? "Man injured following shooting in downtown Toronto" should be "Man injured in shooting in downtown Toronto" or better yet "Man shot in downtown Toronto" (He wasn't injured following the shooting.🙄 Completing high school is so important.)
23
Why, it's because she's a Trudeau Liberal, of course. How can you ask?
22
CP24's 'political analyst' is Scott Reid, a lifelong professional Liberal: his first job 30 years ago was at Liberal Party of Canada headquarters. Then he was the spokesman for...you guessed it, a Liberal prime minister. CP24: "Hmm, our viewers need someone to interpret Canadian politics for them. Hey, let's hire the most Liberal Liberal ever!"
21
1) To say the dog being off-leash "precipitated this incident" leaves out half of it at least: the dog is clearly a pit bull or pit bull mix. I remember the Attorney General of Ontario banning pit bulls in the province some years ago. What happened to that? 2) That security guard really stepped up. Big respect for that.
21
@MonoIce350s You must be a comedian. (A bad one.) The parents' rally had zero to do with hate. This one is all about support for a hate-based massacre.
20
Time to implement the El Salvador anti-gang model before things get far worse. It's worked extremely well down there, effecting a stunning turnaround in the plague of violence and creating a great sense of relief in the public.
19
The nightly report on how Toronto is being systematically ruined! Ruined! Transformed from its former relaxed peacefulness into violence, crime and strife!
18
So was the robber among the dead?
17
(1) This is autumn. You didn't know that?🤨 (2) "That could change." It might get colder as we move into December? My, what a brave assertion!😂
17
@TheJlee28 Spoken like a true leftist.
16
The police have no problem allowing groups with political power to demonstrate. Think of all the many demonstrations around June through November 2020. No blockades, no interference, just minimal observation. Now that it's parents of schoolchildren who don't like government education policies, they withdraw their co-operation. It shows you who has power and who doesn't.
16
What hind of hiring are you doing, CP24? Someone there actually thinks Queen & Vic Park is "downtown"? 🤨 Is it a drunkenness thing? Marijuana? 🤡
16
Rumour has it that Toronto Police have flocked to Montreal to be their coffee and donut waitresses.
15
We've got to find out why Trudeau keeps showing up in public with funny marks in the middle of his forehead. This is no longer funny. Ok, it's still funny. But now it's totally disturbing too.
14
World Council of Rocks: "Hey, stop comparing us to Melanie Joly's brains!"
14
I am in no way persuaded that Trudeau and the Liberals care one bit about Chinese interference in Canadian politics — except maybe to relish it, since such interference could tip a close election outcome in the their favour. The more Conservatives like Michael Chong are targeted, the better for Trudeau. And I can't see the Chinese government going to the trouble if they didn't think they would see concrete results.
13
"[I]ncident in Hamilton-area highway" is bad, unidiomatic English. No one says "in" a highway. Things take place on a highway. Why do most CP24 headlines have an elementary school-level writing mistake in them? Why on earth? Just hire a bright 15-year-old. It'll be an improvement.
12
Your pro-Chow bias is showing in your obedient adoption of her cynical term "revenue tools." You're journalists, supposedly. Don't cheerlead for Chow. The honest term is "higher taxes and fees."
12
More like the equivalent of the leadership which enacted "agricultural reform" in the USSR and China, the result of which was mass famine and tens of millions of deaths by starvation. The similarity is the devotion to ideology over the vital interests of the country's people.
12
Sherbourne & Shuter isn't regarded as Cabbagetown. It's Moss Park.
11
@garyhaggquist740 I believe he means he'd gladly have intimate relations with her. There's no logical way that makes him a hater of women. So how about you spare us all? Have a nice day.
11
Hey Prime Minister Peter Pan, how about some Emergency legislation to deal with endemic gang violence? You didn't hesitate to invoke martial law when ordinary Canadians were non-violently protesting your policies in front of the Parliament Buildings. Come on, tough guy.
11
Sure, it's guaranteed to cause mass deaths if a road is closed.🙄 That's why many roads are closed countless times a year for demonstrations which the government and media agree with, fun-runs, marathons, Gay Pride, food festivals of many different kinds, Caribana, sports victory celebrations...
11
@HoudsAVProduction Stop spamming that absurd and offensive comparison.
10
Wrong. The investigation lasted two weeks. Police know who is in this organized group, what it was up to, and why. It targeted a Jewish-owned business. Never assume that just because you don't know something, no one does. That's over-the-top solipsistic.🙄
10
World Sewage Association: "Hey, stop comparing human waste to that guy!"
10
@TheJlee28 The word salad continues. Apparently it's contagious. Please, wear a mask and stop the spread. 😆
10
He really ended up not deserving any such honours. City Council's mania for renaming things is disgraceful.
10
Everybody panic! It's going up to 32 tomorrow! 🙄 For god's sake panic! The local weather map is coloured orange! 😂
