@n2nursingu the problem is that with these videos, you never see the full story and you only see one side’s version of events. We don’t see what happened before the “record” button was pressed.
23
@ayatahery1427 no one is entitled to a raise at all. You accept your hourly wage when you agree to take the job and show up for work. If you want a higher salary, feel free to ask but if they say no then that’s the end of the discussion. Otherwise you can find another job that pays more. People have such a sense of entitlement these days...
7
@ayatahery1427 you’ve got more BS excuses than a late airline passenger
7
@ayatahery1427 well I read your entire comment, including the part where you wrote ”Some White people really wanna victimize themselves” . And here you are pretending to care about ethics when in reality all you care about is race. Typical Leftist, how sad.
6
@lisawilliams6423 first of all, stop saying “go back and what the video”. I don’t know if you realize how stale that sounds after a while. How do you know if a pay raise was promised? You don’t, because the media did not reach out to the manager for her side of the story. So don’t tell me what was or wasn’t promised. For all we know any such pay raise could’ve been contingent on other criteria such as attendance, job performance, etc etc (if there was one at all). “Broken verbal agreement”? Jeez the kind of ridiculous nonsense that comes out of you people. Ever had a friend make plans with you and then cancel? Ever had someone borrow money and fail to pay back on time? The very idea of bringing your family into your place of employment to confront your manager about your salary is beyond absurd. It’s just plain creepy, and wrong. You try bringing your family into where you work to confront your boss like that. Let me know how it works out for you.
5
@zeevee2090 who the hell brings their entire family into their place of work to gang up on their boss asking for a raise? That’s the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard. I believe these people went in there causing a scene especially seeing as the company had originally reported statements from independent eyewitnesses confirming this.
5
@cloudatlas349 including the people who filmed the video, who were probably screaming and cursing right before Mr. Slick pulled his phone out of his pocket and hit the record button
4
@nengyang1895 well we do know a little more, because there was another Salt Lake City news channel who did their diligence and researched both sides of the story, unlike Fox News 13 who only gave one side. Apparently witnesses reported that the employee's children had walked into the restaurant and were behaving aggressively and making threats. I figured this had to be the case. If you'd like, I can share the link with you.
4
@cloudatlas349 here is the link: https://kutv.com/news/local/utah-restaurant-manager-fired-for-viral-rant-after-company-initially-backed-her Please read the entire article and let me know what you think.
4
@lisawilliams6423 funny how quiet you get when someone makes a valid point and asks you a question which completely discredits your bogus logic
4
I personally contacted the woman to get her side of the story, and yes you're right, there's a lot more to the story.
4
@GalagaKing2 okay fair enough 👍🏻
4
Holy Spirit Filled that’s obvious. I mean unlike 95% of the dumbasses posting comments, I’d like to know the WHOLE story, like what happened before that clown pulled out his cell phone and began recording. People just don’t get angry at the drop of a shoe; they clearly said and/or did something to provoke the woman.
4
@StayPositiveLLC another thing...the fact that this news channel failed to reach out to the woman for HER side of the story goes beyond irresponsible journalism, it almost borders on defamation or libel (which is a criminal issue). This woman lost her job as a result of this; if she had any brains she should've consulted an attorney to see if any action could've been taken against the news station, as she was publicly portrayed in an unfavorable light and not given the opportunity to respond. I'm not an attorney but that doesn't seem fair to me.
4
Have you never gotten this angry before in public? After people provoked and/or threatened you?
4
He wasn't a child. I'm looking at those so-called "children" and they look like young adults to me. Like so many others on this board, you got duped by the headline. I blame the news reporter more than anyone.
4
@Dylan McHarg thank you, for being objective and rational (unlike 95% of the rest of the clowns on these boards).
3
cloud atlas no problem, anytime 👊
3
Exactly. And if you leave your job and find another one, who knows? You might get a higher hourly wage and you won't have to bother asking your manager for a raise.
3
Because you didn't see what happened before the phone came out of the pocket and the record button was hit. You only saw the aftermath.
3
@Nancy Samuelson I contacted the store manager through social media. She says none of the local SLC media ever reached out to her for her side of the story (typical modern-day one-sided journalism...and the ironic part is that her next-door neighbor is a local news anchor). This led to her and her family receiving death threats and her children being bullied and harassed in school. She further told me (as I had suspected) the employee's family had come into the store earlier that day and had caused enough of a commotion that other customers started complaining. Even if you don't think this excuses her anger in the video, at the very least it can help you to understand it. Although she was fired, she was allowed to collect unemployment benefits, which was a bit of a moral victory for her because it proves she did not commit misconduct (no state will allow you to collect unemployment if you've done something really bad). The rest of you clowns commenting on these boards need to do a little more fact-finding before just jumping to conclusions.
3
@biancamichelle11 when you bring your two adult children to your place of employment to get in your manager's face about your salary...that's just plain creepy, and wrong.
3
@danielgarcia-yw1ym because I actually took the time to look into the story further. I have something called "common sense". People don't just flip out in public like this unless they're provoked. You're only seeing what happened AFTER that idiot took out his cell phone and started recording. You didn't even stop to consider what happened before. The lady's children went into the restaurant earlier and they were using "aggressive and threatening" language according to WITNESSES (a "witness" is a person who actually saw what happened). Mall security had to be called to remove them. So then they went back a second time. So I can understand why the manager got so angry. You'd probably be angry too in that type of situation. Anyways what the hell are two adult children doing discussing salary with a manager when they don't even work there? If I wanted to ask my boss for a raise, I would either learn proper English or use Google translate. I wouldn't bring my whole family to my workplace and have them get in my boss' face. That's creepy and ridiculous.
3
Sonal Nayak first of all how do you know that manager was the one who hired her? And why do you keep saying the manager should learn Spanish to be able to communicate with her employees? What a stupid thing to say. This is an English speaking country; the employee is the one who should learn English if she wants to communicate with co-workers and customers. And I don’t believe for a second that the employee can’t speak enough English to simply ask for a raise. Can’t use your phone during work hours? Then write down the words on a piece of paper! Not that hard, jeez.
3
@shellpoop2338 I consulted something called a "dictionary" (do you know what those are?). Here is the definition of "child": "A human being between the stages of birth and puberty, or between the developmental period of infancy and puberty." ...uhhh yeah, those kids look well past puberty.
3
Finally someone gets it. I actually contacted the manager on social media to get her side of the story. I should not have had to do this - this is the media's job.
3
Exactly, I'm glad I found someone in these comments who gets it.
3
How do you know they harassed the manager?
2
@Glum1964 oh I’m not disagreeing with you. Regardless of the manager losing her temper, I am certain of two things here: 1) bringing your adult children into your place of employment during work hours to confront your manager about payroll issues is not only bizarre but also creepy, and 2) the media ran this segment without ever reaching out to the manager and offering her the chance to tell her side of the story. I’m not a lawyer but that just seems libelous.
2
Cute Shoes and Bags whether the manager is a man or woman doesn’t matter. There’s more to this story than what is being shown here. Don’t be so gullible.
2
A C don’t judge and don’t make assumptions. YOU WEREN’T THERE.
2
Because the woman’s kids had come into the restaurant earlier and caused a scene, and had to be removed by security. They returned a second time a couple of hours later.
2
@VONiiE8 I don't know if you saw my previous comment (if you didn't, please go back and read it). I contacted the manager through social media to get her side of the story. ( Note: this is something the media should've done. ) The manager says every local news outlet in Salt Lake ran the story and NONE (not a single one) reached out to her for her version of events, and ironically her next-door neighbor is an anchor at one of the local news stations. As far as I'm concerned, when you make an accusation at someone, in my mind you automatically lose ALL credibility if you only present one side of the story. Now imagine if someone sued you and you were hauled into court, and the judge never let you say a single word. Imagine if our court system worked like that, and judges and juries ruled under the assumption that all accusations were true and we should believe all accusers by default without hearing all evidence. When I talk about "lack of credibility", I'm referring not just to the media but also to the employee and her family (because THEY are certainly not going to give you the full story either). Common sense You can argue all you want that the manager was unprofessional or rude blah blah blah or this and that, but if you had seen and heard what transpired before these people took out their cell phones and started recording, you would've at least understood (if not condoned) the manager's anger.
2
Maybe she did say that. Else why were the employee’s adult children there during work hours? Answer me that.
2
@GalagaKing2 at lots of companies (almost every company, in fact) certain employees get paid more than others depending on a number of factors such as seniority, skill level, education, job title, etc., I don't see why people like you have to race-bait the issue and assume it's due to race or nationality.
2
That's not the reason Jason. It's because all the local news media had this story running and they were concerned about being labeled as racists and being boycotted. Think about it.
2
Shhh 🤫 Tracey you’re supposed to just take one side of the story (the Latina woman’s side) otherwise you’re a racist. Didn’t you know that?
2
How do you know they stayed calm? You didn’t see what they said or did before the camera came out and the ‘record’ button was pressed.
2
@DanRaidersWarriorsSharksGiants lol, you're right. Snowflakes are easily triggered by facts and logic. 🤣
2
@empire7179 "I was a Manager in a restaurant,, you cannot talk to your employees in that matter whether they're right or wrong it just makes it bad on you, which most likely the reason why she was let go" ...initially the company released a statement in support of the manager after conducting their own investigation. They only terminated her after this video went viral, apparently because they were afraid of political backlash from the woke crowd. The woman's family had come into the restaurant earlier that day and were being loud and disruptive and using threatening behavior. The manager had to call security to trespass them. Despite this, they returned a second time, and this time they were so sure they would elicit a reaction that they came prepared with their cell phone camera rolling. "Okay Sean, but...but....the manager still shouldn't have talked to them in that manner, she was rude" ...you can argue this point all you want, but the fact is that this other information at least provides some context and can make us understand (if not condone) the manager's angry reaction.
2
@lakergal07 "Even if the kids demanded, they are kids." ....they are NOT kids. They look like fully-grown adults. "No one got offended, no one was rude, no one got kicked out and no on got fired." okay this is where you're making a lot of idiotic assumptions. The manager could've done a better job of controlling her temper, but people just don't fly off the handle like that unless they're PROVOKED. Something had to have happened BEFORE the kids took out their cell phone and started recording. I contacted the manager to get her side of the story. She told me the children went in earlier in the day and were loud, belligerent and threatening. They caused a scene and disturbed other customers. Security had to be called to trespass them. Despite this, they returned a second time anyway AFTER they had already been told to leave. So that tells me a lot right there. You can say "Well Sean that still doesn't excuse the manager's behavior" ...I'm not saying we should forgive it, but at the very least we can understand why she reacted the way she did. In any case, the employees' kids' credibility in this whole matter is trashed because they left out the part about them yelling and threatening the manager and the fact that they had gone back there a second time after being told to leave.
2
Edgar are you a stand-up comedian? You could seriously be one. I mean your comment was so funny, so witty, so charming...it could only come from a brilliant mind like that of Edgar Castellón.
2
So then am I supposed to say "my apartment" or "my landlord's apartment"? If I say "my landlord's apartment" my friends are going to be very confused when I invite them over. Duhhhh.
2
@danielgarcia-yw1ym sure I'd be happy to. Here is an article from another Salt Lake City news station (KUTV) which also covered this story: https://kutv.com/news/local/utah-restaurant-manager-fired-for-viral-rant-after-company-initially-backed-her ...pay careful attention to the first letter which was released by the company CoreLife, which said that during their investigation they had spoken with witnesses who reported aggressive and threatening language from the woman's children. Read the letter thoroughly; I've included the link below. ( https://kutv.com/news/local/gallery/utah-restaurant-manager-fired-for-viral-rant-after-company-initially-backed-her#photo-3 )
2
Sonal Nayak did you ever bother to read the other article? According to multiple witnesses, the woman's kids went there earlier in the day and were being aggressive and making threats. Security had to come and remove them, but they went back a SECOND time. That's according to WITNESSES. (do you know what a "witness" is? A witness is someone who WAS there, who saw and heard what happened). "The manager could've hired another employee who is bilingual or she could've just went to school and learned Spanish." --> no, how about the employee could've just used Google Translate? "So stop with the you weren't there bullshit." --> no I won't. If you weren't there, then you don't know what really happened before the cell phone started recording and you don't get to make judgements.
2
Sonal Nayak also that’s crap. My managers will allow me to use my phone on the clock for legitimate business purposes. If I have to ask my boss a question and need to look up information on my phone that’s fine with them.
2
Miesha Tate's fart box actually the termination was lawful. If she’s like most employees she’s an “at-will” employee so she can be fired for virtually any reason. However, she should file a complaint against the news station that ran a story on her without reaching out to her for comment.
2
David it doesn’t matter if there’s more to the story, you’re supposed to just take one side of the story (the side of the Latina woman) otherwise it’s racist…didn’t you know that? 😁
2
That’s the media for you
2
@shellpoop2338 How do YOU know how old they are? And if you lack the brains to see all the race-baiting and sensationalism in this news story then I'm sorry but you're a lost cause...
