  2. Super frugal, only thing I ever purchased new was underwear, socks, & shoes. Saved enough for a down payment on a house when I was 27. Got it paid off even though I went through a couple tough years. Then things got tougher when I got cancer, about the time I had run out of savings, I found work I was able to do, but it was only a couple hours a day, but it did help rebuild muscle. About the time I was to go full time, my well went out, & the city that had annexed my place wanted over $20K for the privilege of tapping into their water & sewer. Now the roof needs replacing. I think that’s a bit much to pay when rest of life expectancy is only 4,745 days.

  3. You’d be hard pressed to find a one or two bedroom home available for purchase, unless it’s to be moved. Been on that hunt going on 9 years. I have one, but can’t afford the $30K it will take to get running water.

  4. I’m about to retire on less than $950/month. Paid cash for every automobile I ever had & paid off a house with a $9/hr job. What is the point in working 60 hours a week if it only gets a room?

  15. A comment suggested that in the previous video, Carol replied that she didn’t want her getting hurt trying to excess it. But it might be cheaper & once it was full, she probably wouldn’t have a need to retrieve anything.

  18. So very thankful that I grew up with floods & hurricanes, & even more grateful that I went from news junkie to no tv at all years ago. Honestly, it only exists to sell things — that’s its ONLY purpose. Radicals are so self-absorbed, that they assume anyone who resembles them, sides with them.

  20.  @lydiastevenson8502 There as so many who enslave the homeless here, many under the disguise of non-profits. There were two that I knew of in the tiny town I grew up in, both are still operating, even tho the founders have long since passed. Found out through one of the founders son, & the other by a good friend who had been enslaved. 40 years ago, while staying in a resort town, a man escaped terrible conditions & torture, to report that there were 11 more being held against their will. Not so long ago there was a major meat supplier that had enslaved mentally challenged people under horrific conditions. None of which were reimbursed.

  21. 20 years ago I remember the women I worked retail with, it was their way to afford insurance. Their husbands earned good wages, but were also dependent upon overtime, which put them in the highest of all tax brackets.

  24. Very true. I cringe wherever I hear women , who cannot afford rent, so determined to have a baby before their biological clock runs out. None of them appear to be healthy enough to survive childbirth, little on raise a child. And I get it, I really do, bc when I turned 41, I was dating an older man who had a good job with the state, & he was begging me to have his child, & I was thinking, “its now or never”. Thankfully I came to my senses in a matter of a week, & 22 years later, I’ve never been more grateful. Every. Single. Day. Grateful. Every time I get on fb to see if anyone has a request for something I may have, there’s as many as 5 young girls asking for diapers or formula, & most are already pregnant again or have more than one in diapers. The future is not looking good for these young mothers, & even less so for their children:

  25. Please find a somewhat newer vehicle. Chrysler has always been difficult to find parts for, and any vehicle 2006 & older are becoming extremely difficult to get parts for. Long story short: you can order them new, but they’re made so cheaply, they arrive broken or break during installation. Best place to look is someone you know, like a neighbor or a mechanic. And if you can, Honda or Toyota, both are quality vehicles. Just say “no” to any high dollar maker, like BMW, not even for free, because you must go through them for high dollar maintenance & repairs, otherwise, they will never touch it after anyone else.

  27. Thank your lucky stars you have electricity & water to cut back on. I have some solar & somewhat of a roof over my head, so I count myself fortunate. However, I won’t ever live long enough to afford the $15K the city wants for water access. Even if they had pity on me, a plumber is another $17K or more. On the brighter side; me living in a vehicle isn’t going to be that much of a stretch.
