  13. Saw that. To be clear, it was a motorhome & they had another vehicle. I’m wondering if they would have a choice since it’s considered a vehicle & you’re usually entitled to keep a vehicle. Also, one or both is probably financed. But this could also be a concern when it comes to needing government assistance. You’re only allowed so much in assets. My neighbor had a massive cancer tumor on his head, & since he had an old boat that wasn’t worth anything, it was still considered a major asset because it had a title. He had to pay someone to take it off his hands.

  19. I’m near the Texas coast where I’ve been watching them take over a year to dismantle buildings that were built in the last ten years to withstand the most powerful of hurricanes, only to replace them with yet another cheesy vacant strip mall that can be knocked leveled within an hour.

  21. A former SSA manager says that we need to call our representatives & tell them you want the cap on social security lifted, to make certain that SS will still be available. If not, recipients will see a decrease by 2031. Also, if you’re having difficulty getting through to a certain government agency, let them know.

  28. Absolutely. I was getting calls from a number listed as the Department of Justice, & when I alerted them to it, they said “So, what do you want us to do?”. That was more than ten years ago, hopefully they’ve made it illegal to impersonate an officer via phone. ​ @gloriouslifeonwheels3621

  34. You two gravely underestimate just how wealthy most everyone in congress is. I have many wealthy clients, although, nowhere near as wealthy as those in congress. However, should you shut off half their income, they wouldn’t have to cut back. What so many do not, & unfortunately, will never understand is, whenever someone reaches that amount of wealth, their money makes money, through no effort of their own.

  41. Shingles wouldn’t last if you’re gonna be driving & it would add weight, but definitely needs the ridges coved with aluminum or plastic seams to keep rain out. And caulking & lots of paint will help it last.

  42. Whenever I go near a Walmart, there’s always someone asking for $10. One day I had a headache, & since that was the only place in town that had any fuel left, I had to suck it up. As soon as I started pumping fuel, a lady approached & before she could say “Do you have…” I screamed “NO!”, & she ran & got into a vehicle that was 12 years newer than my old beater. Normally I ask them a billion questions until they give up & try an easier mark, but a loud, firm “NO!”, sends them packing. It was great practice for when I pulled into a desserted station in the middle of nowhere & a car full of people pulled in close behind, a woman & man got out, approached with “Do you know god?”.

As an 80 yr old nomad tells us every morning: “This is the first day of the rest of your life — make it good one. Stand guard at the door of your mind.   46. Right. I earned $18/hr in 1980 for unskilled labor, in TX, while the guys were earning $20-$23 for the same job. Strange how earnings have remained stagnant, while everything else has continued to rise, along with hundreds of imposed fees.

Came out of Walmart after dark the other night, with my usual $20 worth, hadn’t eaten all day, when a well dressed lady complete with jewelry & manicured nails stopped me with a cart full of groceries & a McDonald’s frappé. Claiming her husband was in jail for domestic battery after knocking her teeth out, & her & the kids were staying in a hotel… she wanted a contribution in order to stay another night. Might have a better chance asking someone who’s able to afford McDonald’s.
