This borrows from their strategic surrender to Germany in ww1 where the Germans absorbed so much Russian territory it was difficult to administer it. They plan on forcing the Ukrainian army to spend so many resources dealing with surrendered soldiers they won't have spare capacity for offensive operations.
1
And it needs do be better than lead. It's a pretty low bar.
1
You lost any credibility whatsoever when you suggested that the only thing stopping Russia from taking all of Ukraine was they hadn't decided to. And I'm going to give a contemptuous laugh at the idea of Russia being able to do well in WW3. It's about as believable as you actually being French. (after all the people I've come across who claim to be from English speaking countries who support Russia but obviously speak English as a second language)
1
@jjt9201 you're following an overused script. "I'm not pro Russian, I'm just here spouting Russian talking points" And it wants allies because what benefit is there to going it alone? Russia and the PRC would love allies, but they're both such terrible countries they're not going to get any. They're not even allies to each other.

I think Putin is comfortable with being a hypocrite. And as far as Kim goes..... He's the morbidly obese leader who's telling his subjects that two (one, zero, I haven't kept up) meals per day are healthy. :P
1
It feels like you answered your own question.
1
@alegro4046 he could accidentally shoot himself twice in the back of the head. There's a whole range of things that can happen when you don't pay attention. Clumsy, clumsy man.
1
How would actually going nuclear help Putin? The threat absolutely helps, but what good would actually giving the other do him, and what good would obeying the order do for everyone between him and them? Keeping in mind missiles can go in two directions, and everyone involved in the launch process is aware of this.
1
It takes a special kind of idiot to need to ask if you're free to talk about these things in America while he's freely and openly talking about them on an American platform.
1
My guess is if they went, they'd use the trans Siberian.
1
If wonder if they'll respect their agreements as much as Putin respected the Budapest agreement.
1
"On 18 January 2017, Russia and Syria signed an agreement, effective forthwith, wherein Russia would be allowed to expand and use the naval facility at Tartus for 49 years on a free-of-charge basis and enjoy sovereign jurisdiction over the base" What a deal! I'm sure they'll respect it!
1
@viixx7928 or they're just talking bollocks, hoping to apply what polish they can to this turd of a situation and keep a gullible populace from getting upset at what's been lost.
1
looks at the PRC I mean.... I know what you're saying, but considering that all Communist parties have failed to reach Communism, as far as using the flag goes.... looks at the PRC again
1
It's easier to list countries that the PRC hasn't screwed over since 2020.
1
That's not a cause for concern among the Russian leadership.

An armed mob. Armies have organisation and discipline

I've enjoyed watching people trying to make the same arguments about historical claims to Australians on Australian news sites. The same Australians who only made the final legal break with the UK in 1986, when the privy council stopped being our final court of appeal. (the king of Australia is a separate legal entity to the king of England) I somehow don't think they understand their target audience.
1
And in the decades since, it was the Russian state that collapsed. The USA remains and looks set to continue to remain. Edit: misread. 58k soldiers in 8 years vs 59k Russian soldiers in 8 months. (more or less)
1
The problem is they then sell it as soon as the govt has propped it up. Forcing the cycle to repeat even faster.
1
Basically if they're making money doing this, they're making money off Putin.
1
The point here is that unlimited friends don't take advantage of their friend when it's desperate. China isn't Russia's friend, though. Anyone who thinks that it's forgotten about the land Russia took from them or what the Soviet soldiers did while they were in Manchuria is sadly deluded.
1
I doubt this war will go on for that long, but there's another bigger war with the PRC coming.
1
Because the only thing that's bad about their targeting Intel is it gives the location of those who have learning disabilities. But as long as they're in the same building at people who aren't addicted to lead paint, it's still good.
1
The generals are a trap. Removing them from command helps the Russian army.
1
The British empire was at its peak when people wore top hats. Coincidence? I no longer think so.
1
If (when) China invades Russia to take back what was handed over during the unequal treaties (plus interest), would you be inclined to lift a finger to stop them? I wouldn't.
1
Russia has destroyed a huge amount of HIMARS rockets. They cunningly position their ammunition depots so they're in a good position to take out as many missiles as possible. There's nothing like a few hundred tonnes of shells, etc to ensure that the missile that tries to land near them gets well and truly destroyed.
1
I guess stockpiles aren't a thing that exists.
1
I also hear bad things happen if they hit you at high speed. These bullets are clearly dangerous.
1
@moenielsen3218 if the people they might have collided with kill, rape or torture these civilians, that's also cause for concern. Depleted uranium might cause cancer. Russian soldiers will rape, murder and torture civilians
1
Yeah, until my daughter had her first pair with laces, she hadn't. The point here though is that she's a kid. This is an adult.
1
@nickbrink3668 it's an adult. Either way, it's very different to a six year old (or a ten) I've never met an adult who couldn't tie his shoes.
1
According to Russian tradition, they wouldn't "find him" for at least a day after the heart attack.
1
Operation Fishkill writ large
1
I enjoy watching trolls grasping at straws trying to pretend BRICS is something it isn't Not a single one of those countries that won't let Russia lose voted in favour of Russia on anything war related. Russia's so desperate for friends it counts fence sitters and bargain hunters
1
Why don't you think he could last a day? He's the material from which Russian generals are made. Each private should carry an advertisement for a yacht in his knapsack for the day he becomes a Marshall.
