Tee Jaye Get a job, get a LIFE. Good Grief.

@kevinwake8789 MY point was U can't stop every source of ignition. T-storms happen, have forever. Flammable landscape is the problem. Wasn't always like this even in warmer times some 2k yrs ago. We F---ed things up, most but not all of which we can fix (can't replace 300 yr old tree), but not easily. Justice system reference a glib tangent.

BEVs catch on fire 1/10th as often as ICE cars. Pics show gas car which always burn eventually. lol Try again.
1
Very rare circumstances, 1000X more are in danger from other avoidable factors.
1
Poor disposal, they'll just float on down stream, may as well toss them in the river, easier.
1
NO. Probably not much worse than a typical home with a wood stove.

@thornil2231 Up to 30ft or so I believe. Not good. It won't rebound much, it's a permanent loss of capacity for your biggest best and, usually, only reservoir. Glacier ice aside, about 85% of our liquid fresh water is in the ground.

@thornil2231 And other food crops. We all eat but there have to be limits on pumping. Ultimately SoCali should probably rely on desalinization extensively, using less doesn't seem to be feasible. Long ago wrecked the Colorado River, Owens Lake, etc., for Los Angeles growth....tried to destroy Mono Lake too but the courts stop them. (my old man fought for Owens Valley against LA in the '90's, they won a few, mainly Mono Lake)

I guess DEW spared the few who stood up to it. lol. Nice examples!

This is a "record" for some small region over small time frame since 20 yrs ago, just for perspective. lol.
1
Don't be too sure about that, pretty common s3x position in some 'alternative lifestyles'.

@imd1b4u That aquifer is a big part of the ground water in question.
1
@imd1b4u The ground water we were referring to Good Grief.

Luckiest winter for Cali since 2017, drought buster!

Trailers are throw away structures not equipped to withstand anything slightly severe.

No development is possible without individual home owners demand.

@Sir_Wellington I compost everything, if it was recently living. Fish tho is top shelf stuff. :D)

It's the soft scared administrators....typically a bunch of wimp wannabes. :D

@kittymeekins1682 I can't say "the winters were harsher", we remember the exceptions. I woke to look out my window to see my even my upright bicycle buried in snow. It was thrilling near Bishop CA where one foot was about max in the "rain shadow" of Sierras. School shut for several days! YeeHA! (naturally prudence required shoveling some roofs as they were approaching max load if we got more snow, and manually clearing walks, driveway, what kids are FOR) Dad a geologist scoffed at the idea of glaciers growing out of the E. Sierras. "Yeah they would but every yr isn't going to be 1969 most likely."

@Ysckemia Just use some common sense, I definitely check them out as I approach. I normally have my wallet stuck between the passenger seat and transmission/drive line tunnel (I like rear drive manuals) and I do put that away. I don't want anyone dirty or sketchy but most folks are fine and very grateful for the ride. The worst experience I had was a guy who stunk so bad I let him off early. It feels good to help and I know exactly what it's like to be stuck on the side of the road somewhere. It's MY understanding that the American FBI fabricated the notion that it was dangerous to hitchhike or pick them up, they managed to set the tone for decades about a risk that never actually existed,...presumably to get back at the Hippies in the 60's, sounds unlikely perhaps unless you consider the vitriol between "establishment" and these renegades who challenged everything in particular law enforcement abuses. Hippies were the predominant hitchhikers back then, some traveled the nation that way while the rest used it as an emergency option if your car broke down or whatever. Us kids used it to get to and from town a few miles away or home from school if missed the bus, etc. I developed a simple strategy to get rides quickly,....and don't even try after dark.

Not to be dismissive of East side damage but West side is 100% healthy burn, over half the area so far. Forest Service has been wanting to burn Ishi wilderness for yrs but afraid to do it and knowing it was just a matter of time anyway.
1
@MadlyinLovewithJesus-1953 We tried but LA Times and rest of Machine fabricated nonsense about his replacement, Larry Elders. But at least we had a recall mid term revolt.
1
Having experienced couple dozen 'human detectable' earthquakes--this was one of the smallest. 5.5 is tiny.
1
Over half the burn area is 100% ecologically healthy, Forest Service has been wanting to burn Ishi land for yrs but afraid to do it, now it's being done just as they knew it would.
1
@ProLogicEnt1 SHEEEESH. Is there nothing you won't fall for? Like a high speed rail is going to EVER be built in rural mountains to nowhere. How gullible are you?
1
PG&E was in a no win situation and they only ignited the tinderbox, they didn't create the conditions that would have been lit by lightning if nothing else anyway. The real problem is mismanagement of wild lands.
1
@ProLogicEnt1 You need to start asking ME questions, your idea of "research" is feeding your naive preconceived notions. I LIVE HERE and know what happened, how and why. In fact WE had expected this to happen for at least 30 yr.s now. I had ash all over my yard Sport, it burned out many I know and right up to my town. Go ahead and ask instead of pretending you have any idea what's going on.
1
@KC-ww3zh What are you yammering about child? Are you even sober?
1
Situation normal.
1
Tough decision as to leave or stay but it looks like these folks could have, maybe should have stayed....easy to say in hindsight.
