Highly skeptical of TX (or any other government plan) for charging stations, they'll be 10X the cost w crap performance, misreble to use and half broken-down at any given time if recent history is any guide. Much prefer those monies go to road improvements, we didn't need government gas stations and Tesla and others can do charging.

  16. Not unless governments push it hard which they shouldn't but may. (to last question) Companies will be compelled to stick rigorously to the numbers. I don't think it makes sense to subsidize BEVs either except to reduce dependency on the CCP, not necessary nor very helpful and deficit spending is going to cost us big time.

  17. Not refining so much as extraction, gas and oil come from the same natural processes and usually coexist in the ground. Gas also a common problem in underground coal mines.

  18. R&D spent per car sold I believe includes ALL Tesla's R&D, solar roof, batt packs, bot.....not likely a fair compare to other mfgs.

If you can get one Cybertruck to the Moon for $10M vs. 5 purpose built vehicles for the same price which are you going to do? Besides the fact that no earth appropriate vehicle will also be suited to another body for a host of reasons--vacuum, extreme cold, extreme fluctuations in temperature, and so on.

There are a few compelling options, Polstar 2 (recalled for software that doesn't work) and some other Chinese brands. Fortunately there are many upstarts to take the place of the old failures, creative destruction is healthy. I can't say about German names but GM and Ford have far more debt than they can survive. We used to depend on Sears which is all but forgotten and not missed, same with Zerox, Kodak, Nokia, and so on. You don't seem to have a clue about the hurdles facing old staid OEMs without any electronic or software experience or expertise. They are ALL fucked frankly. They don't even have the batts if they could sell their inferior oferings. And their innovations?? Name them! Never mind Porsche it's a 1%er option. How about for $40k? Anything you'd want to own?

  44. Yeah he impressed me by even meeting with Munro, good free advertising to a limited audience but also a risk as he wouldn't necessarily control the narrative. I used to view him as similar to a football coach. And the Lightening is actually a compelling rig in a space I'm not even sure the CT will penetrate much, a real work truck. Most sales of CT seem to be more of a fashion statement.

  48. Batt swapping must be a massive penalty for NIO requiring 2 batt packs for every vehicle and vastly greater charging infrastructure. I don't see how that model can last long.
