  4. You don't need to mandate every damned thing. Rental property owners will provide chargers on their own as an easy extra incentive for renters, they often provide far more expensive infrastructure like gyms and swimming pools that few use. Currently there just aren't many econobox BEVs available for the peasants, that will change fast in next several yrs. The real problem is the vast expansion in grid capacity required.

  13. 4:25 arguably a safety error to turn wheels while stopped, should wait until executing the maneuver as it only takes a bad bump from the rear to knock vehicle into oncoming traffic. Believe it's also the law in most of the USA, one that most ignore or ignorant of.

  15.  @mac_mcleod  Care is definitely required. Always did my own mechanicing and maintenance. Starting out post high school say, it's the only way to go IMO, old econobox and learn how to repair and maintain. The one car I really wanted was double what I was willing to pay new and yrs past production anyway. Low miles BMW E92-M3, last expensive ICE I plan to run as long as practicle.

The "Big 3" were upset and down sized back in the early 1980's to a much lessor degree due to lethargic complacency and lack of competition/garbage products, then it was superior Japanese brands, this time around the upset should be much bigger.

  21.  @unbelievabubble  Some of us see car as LT tool/toy and liability more than an asset. Will latest cuts effect 10 yr old Tesla value? Not much. Any car beyond bare necessities.... '94 Civic would do the job for cheap', sort of beyond my econobox decades. Mine 12 to 23 yrs old already, lol. Cars depreciate always have always will, typically by far the biggest cost of a new 'premium' vehicle. Listen when Elon says: "Our prices are embarrassingly high." New improved cheaper Teslas, better computer, efficiencies, charging sp... progress equals depreciation of the older versions. Can't have it both ways.

There is a major backlash in the USA almost entirely driven by being "forced" into EVs, frankly I sympathize with it but it should be a backlash against government overreach, not so much a new technology.

But I'm 'proud' of my old BMWs and the Germans who made them, many feel the same about their old Toyotas for good reason. But if you really think XYZ are a fraud (cough, cough...Trevor Milton/Nikola) then it's fine to express such in harsh terms regardless where they hail from. And I don't hate on the likes of Mark, he and his kind have literally made me a modest fortune, but I can sure make fun of him especially if he refuses to learn his lessons and remains arrogant after being proven stupidly wrong repeatedly.   44.  @Frank_W.  I guess it dates back to Reagan--"remove 2 regulations for every new reg" Simple but possibly good idea. Better yet, or in addition, all new laws should have an expiry date and new laws or extensions should require 60% vote while removing old laws should only take 40%...something like that should be built in. (sort of Elon's take) Revisit every law in say 20 yrs or it expires with exception of The Constitution and maybe a high hurdle for a few other exceptions. But yeah--try to terminate 'food for fuel' ethanol program and your going to lose support bc only those profiting on it care enough to vote on that single issue, no one else cares that much. It's the classic "distributed costs concentrated rewards" scenario. Or how Cuban Americans have driven the entire toxic Washington Cuban policy for half a century...only they will vote strictly on that issue while the rest of nation has other priorities.

  48.  @bangerbangerbro  The stock price largely reflects not only past performance/profits but more so future expectations. "Market Capitalization" is simply the number of shares X the price per share which defines the total value of the Co. It was only a few yr.s ago a common topic of market speculation who would become the very 1st trillion $ company, now that several have breached (at least temporarily) that psychological number it's been sort of forgotten about. Both Amazon and Microsoft make much or most of their money on cloud services. Apple makes most from it's "recurring revenue stream"--monthly fees for services not hardware anymore as one might think. All 4 are worth considering to own long term, I'm in MSFT and will get back into AMZN again. I'd suggest you owe it to yourself to dip your toe in the market, just a few shares perhaps at first, in a company you have confidence and conviction in. It's still the best way for most of us to grow/multiply our hard earned savings over time.

  49.  @bangerbangerbro  IF that sounds compelling your first response would likely be: "I don't know where to start!" Fortunately it's far easier and cheaper today than a couple decades ago. One simply opens an online broker account, it's free until you buy/sell a stock then you pay a modest transaction fee of maybe 4 to $7 regardless of the size of purchase/sale. Then transfer $X into broker account from your bank account and your on your way. Once you purchase a few shares, maybe just one share in a few different companies--you will automatically begin your self education on the topic as you'll be invested, however small, and become at least a little interested in market news, strategies, etc. (Pardon unsolicited advice from a stranger)
