@rj8u Interesting. I'm still not convinced Munro will have glowing things to say about them in final verdict, but I've never been on board with Sandy on H2. Having a prototype that 'works' (ostensibly, short trip empty isn't entirely convincing) is a far cry from production which is still a long way from a viable company. I'll be very surprised if they exist in 5 yrs.

(I stand corrected that this wasn't the FCEV version, but BEV)

@D0li0 Everyone has the right to be wrong sometimes, Sandy also confidently predicted 5 months ago that FSD would be ready by yr end when that was obviously not the case , he didn't realize what FSD was attempting to be. Take every source for what they have to offer, there never was a time when one can be so lazy as to subscribe to everything anyone else thinks. Conversely, a wise man can learn something even from an idiot. I knew a very bright if arrogant engineer who was working at a service station repair garage back in the day while in college--he was struggling with a tiny spring for carburetor (fiddly things they can be) and a coworker that he estimated to be the dumbest dude on Earth walked past, showed him a little trick that made it right in seconds. That's when he realized he could learn SOMETHING from anyone. :D
2
I doubt they want a bunch of spectators around.
2
@markplott4820 My old BMWs, 2001 and 2011 do that but they don't lock anyone in against their will.
2
I recall some 15 yrs ago BMW 'planning' on going 48 volt, didn't realize it went back half a century of nothing but talk. Obvious perhaps but unmentioned here--most of the components driven by 48V should also be smaller, lower mass and eventually cheaper, not only the wires.
2
Few X per week.
2
@mrknesiah Yeah I was amazed when 1st learning that, losing engine power should never result in loss of steering but it does for at least some of those trucks.
2
@Tooradj Sounds reasonable. I'm guessing this rig will cost on the order of 2 or $3M per copy minimum, at least foreseeably.
2
@davidwong825 Doesn't happen at that age, more like 30 to grow up to that point.
2
@davidbeppler3032 How about some brands giving customers the choice?
2
@4literv6 What I need isn't about to happen, it's a big market segment but not comparable to a pickups. A replacement for traditional 1-ton service chassis that accommodates existing beds. I have excessively expensive specialized custom bed fitting traditional frame dimensions. (440V 3-phase power would be a huge plus too)
2
@4literv6 That sounds about right. Likely beyond my retirement unfortunately. "Retire" seems like a slow death, lol, not fond of the concept but....
2
@Zorkmid123 Sure. I don't think the economics of FCEVs are close to competitive but there will be exceptions, niches where they may exist in small numbers. As to if Tesla say, can make the 500 mile semi without compromising payload remains to be seen in my eyes, but Elon has pulled off bigger surprises than that. For shorter range FCEV semi is doomed IMO, simply no reason for the extra upfront cost, complexity, and triple the fueling cost.
2
Much prefer leather over plastic, be nice if Tesla had that option but I get the minimization of options and the emotional vegans make the most noise. :D
2
@lockbert99 I'll give NKLA 5 or 10 yrs to prove to my satisfaction that they are viable just as I did with Tesla. I don't think they will be around that long but it will be interesting to see. Hopefully Trevor will be stripped of ALL his wealth as a token of justice and recouping to shareholders.
2
These two are very good at this!
2
@KrustyKlown And we y'all know ya gotta do better job. (just toying w ya, engineering background here too)
2
@ThunderAppeal Do know your own name?
2
Interested in chargers tear downs. :D
1
For a taxi one might prefer more standard handles, not like the Model 3 or this Ford but what everyone knows how to use.
1
@gregbailey45 I've only been tightly tuned in for about 15 yrs, beyond my general engineering background and 4 decades contracting for heavy industry. Why don't you school me? What am I missing?
1
Love to see that look! 5:00
1
Air filter access difficulty means it's not going to be replaced as often as you'd like or it's going to cost you.
1
@TheEvilmooseofdoom It appears to only be removable toward the front of car, otherwise there'd be all that air manifold in the way on the cab side and it's in front of 'firewall'.
1
@rkan2 IDK, hard to make sense of.
1
How many major auto companies can justify the $100k price for report? How many are really going to be able to benefit that much minus those who don't necessarily make the best decisions anyway?
1
@themonsterunderyourbed9408 Likely, but that's not the point, see above.
1
@subwarpspeed One thing for certain, Munro knows best the customer potential for any given report. Amazes me that basement dwellers apparently hating on Munro for over priced bottle opener, it's a fund raiser, don't contribute if you don't want to.
1
GAUD that styling is horrific.
1
I tip everyone suggesting they should buy share of TSLA.
1
3:30 That charge door is very cheap and cheesy.
1
Fascinating indeed but I clicked immediately.
1
Totally dismiss it, not 'kinda'. :D Should be a penny stock they don't have a viable plan.
1
Worth revisiting, always miss something first time.
1
Hahaha...Sandy is struggling with that weakness and he gets an earful from his compatriots, he's mentioned a couple X. It can be frustrating.
1
@oldfarthacks New drivetrain would be far more than that, IDK what the point of doing less than a drivetrain swap.
1
The vilifying of fossil fuels is childishly mindless.
1
@TheMagicJIZZ What's not true?
1
@dogbreath6974 Not as good yet but if priced well below and getting better? We'll see.
1
So out of character gotta suspect sandbagging. He could have answered that differently without risk, he banned that topic for now.
1
@etbadaboum NOT to the world, just to the treacherous morons who virtue signal whilst doing evil.
1
Never doubted Sandy's integrity but obviously some will and he, like anyone in such a situation, needs to defend himself on occasion. I expected Tesla wouldn't be entirely pleased with a lot he says about them.
1
@John-209 Munro had a great answer to a childishly naive question, glad you asked it anyway if only for the few others simple enough to 'think' in similar fashion.
1
@John-209 That explains it--you also believe in that fairy tail. Any nonsense you don't fall for? How about chemtrails?? lol.
1
I put that same corrugated wrap on all the wiring of my custom 1-ton service truck in the late '90's. lol. My old BMWs have the same click together hose fittings.
1
I too was expecting some exciting wiring advancements.
1
Loved it. :D
1
Next time lift car to tall guys preference and let shorter guy jump and reach. 😊
1
LOT more than $200k....my speculation.
