Theirs are glide hypersonic. Basically ICBMs which we've had for decades technically. Much different then what the US wants. Which is something with a flatter trajectory and flies lower through the atmosphere like a cruise missile. That's the difference and issue.
2
I want to see a full test. New weapons on it as well. Like that new hypersonic missile that a F22 can carry or a combination of the newest Naval a2a missile the AMG 174 I believe? It might have 600km or miles worth of range, and is basically the Navies SM6 converted then carried on an aircraft. Imagine how many of those each aircraft can carry! Especially the hypersonic air to ground one. Tiny mofo. You could knock out a fleet of defending aircraft then come into to do a ton of strikes against Chinese radars. In theroy, because I seriously doubt they want to get that close.
2
@chrissmith7669 Yeah probably trippd some servo. I didn't want to read through a huge PDF file on the wire harness and analog computers/servos. Not that I would understand it I'm just a layman and need that shit broken down. Now I'm curious what types of protection against EMF certain helicopters have. Like the workers who use helicopters to get on high voltage lines without shutting off the grid, and other tall objects that generate a shit load of EMF. It is stupid on how such a simple thing can cause such a headache and loss of life.
2
For a second I thought you meant the A 12 OxCart. I was like no way that would be suitable for the Navy.
2
@jimmiller5600 Haha yeah especially for those fucking craft. My grandpa worked on them and said they thought they were making some missile or something and was blown away that they added two to it. God I wish I took the time and asked him more about his work. Then again the military back then would experiment with some pretty wild ideas. Would not surprise me if some knucklehead asked engineers to maks it happen. I think today's true lesson is to finish the damn video before typing in comments.
2
@jimmiller5600 Whoa they did a U2? That's funny you said that because I was going to type something along those lines. Hats off to that pilot. The F 35B may have flaws with range and combat load, but that's exactly something it can do well. I can't wait to see how some crafty commander or pilot uses it. "Surprise MOTHA F***A!" I just learned the marine corps also has the C variant which I thought odd. Also curious on how bad the downwash is on the F 35B in VTOL. The Osprey is notorious with ripping shit up.
2
F 35a is so cheap for what it gives. It is expensive now to run. Yet the apparatus to maintain it logistically isn't up yet. I think Alex said it wouldn't be ready till 2027. So that price will drop I think. I disagree with Alex too. Simply since you probably need less F 35s to win a war. Therefore by shortening the life of a conflict through air dominance? You can win a war therefore decreasing the overall price of it. The Ukraine war is weird, because Ukraine doesn't have the ability to actual strike Russia where it counts. At home. Hitting the northern refineries, and Russians ability to produce weapons. While the F 35 is able to create corridors for other aircraft, and can deal with defenses better. As for Red Flags. I don't trust them anymore after reading how they change rules of engagement to give people fighting chances. Either way it is a great plane, and perfect for Sweden, and other airforces. I'd still take an F 35 all day long. Especially with Block 4 coming out.

These shapes! Haha. My friend and I absolutely saw one(tr3b) late at night when he was bringing me home. I saw something and was like huh that has weird lights. You see that? Is that a helicopter? So he stops the car and at the time we are thinking it is coming towards and nearly right above us. Yet after looking for a minute it hasn't moved at all so I tell him to turn off the car. Still nothing! So we get out of the car and it is just floating above us. Now here is the weird thing... We could see the silhouette of it in the shape of a triangle against the night sky. It had three light, and one bigger in the middle that reflected light weirdly - almost like looking at a red marble with an inner light. Yet there was no noise at all on top of it. So that either means the thing was massive and high up in the sky. Or super quiet and low to the ground... So it couldn't be a helicopter as I'm use to them. Anyway we are standing there for five minutes and this was right when cell phones had cameras so it had like 1 mega pixel, haha. He tried though. Anyway then it took off like a bat out of hell. There was no acceleration. Just standing still and full speed. It traveled north about a mile before going over a hill and tree line and then a split second later appeared where the hill dipped heading east over the ocean. With how fast it popped east I doubt it even turned - just a hard right like a upside down L angle. That acceleration and G force would have killed anyone. I only told a few people about the story. Years later an ex I told it to showed me a story about the TR3B and sure enough it is it. Amazes me how so many others seen it. I'm a skeptic yet I cannot deny what I saw. I won't pretend to know what it is or speculate. I just know what both of us saw and know how fast the f***ing thing went and that it was silent. I wish I had something to judge the size or speed of it, but it was a bright night sky with only some clouds. Darker then the night sky though! No sonic boom by the way - complete silence. Again it didn't acceleration not like a rocket. Shot off like a bullet. Total time was probably a bit less then ten minutes. When it was hovering it did absolutely nothing. Just hope it is on my side!
2
@nomercyinc6783 And if you watched the videos he already made a statement saying how he is branching out to voice and talk about other military systems. Jesus. Go look for yourself.
2
I thought they are. The Lancer that worked with the F35 too which will be a missile ship.
2
@EtFoff Yeah this is the cost of the airframe too which is ridiculous. I mean you don't go buy a car with let's say for 40k and you'll know you get 40k hours out of it. Gas costs 10$ per 60 miles.. You say it costs 10$ per hour and not 14$. Just a little I weird. Also the crew salaries will be getting paid whether you're flying the aircraft or not. Military spending though is in a league of its own.
2
Isn't Quicksink just a bomb and not a missile? Think it is similar to a JDAM where you can use mostly any bomb in the inventory and equip it for it to easily target ships which are harder to hit naturally since they constantly move in 3d space. More advanced kill chain or something like that. Not sure what the differences between that and the JDAM are quite honestly so a thorough breakdown which Sanxboxx does best would be great for sure. I mean the freaken JDAM literally has an air to air kill from a F15 Strike Eagle on a Helicopter. How much more accuracy do you need! Also a long video on the old and newest improved Tomahawks that now have the ability to hit ships. I've read in comments that one version of the Tomahawk had the capability to do it like over two decades ago but they removed the feature?! There's just a lot of random information on each iteration of the Tomahawk since its development so a video on it and all the differences, pros and cons would be very interesting. Also after watching videos of the Quicksink being tested I can say with 100% satisfactory guaranteed that the name is perfect, hah.
2
That is a good point I didn't think of. Honestly if you have the money then doing it like this is the best option for simulating an aircraft or vehicle. VR is cool for other video games, but if you had the money you'd prefer it this way over some headset for games with aircraft, tanks, cars, etc. I'm honestly surprised they didn't make this sooner... They should have enough for pilots to be training on one daily quite honestly... For all of our jets. Not only would it save money, but it would give them the edge for sure if they are getting 20-30 hours a week in it.
2
After witnessing what is happening to helicopters in Ukraine. It makes sense. Besides our war is with China in the pacific. The money would be better used for other projects or keeping new ones updated. That money wasn't wasted. It continues to keep our engineers busy, and in America. That technology will be moved I am sure. Let us face it. Traditional helicopters have reached their physical limits. I don't feel like the Raider X or Defiant were going to be cheap craft or easy to maintain either. Tilt powered craft are the future.
2
And our cheese reserves!
2
@triadwarfare Osprey at least from 2022 had the best saftey record of any VTOL aircraft in current service according to top brass from the USMC. Turns out. Flying VTOL is dangerous. Sure a lot of people are going to die when the aircraft routinely flies with 20 plus people, and something happens. Each crash does suck. As for things like cost or maintenence? Yeah, it was a state of the art aircraft ahead of its time with capabilities beyond any helicopter in terms of speed and range. It also likes to set the landing pad on fire. Both are valid cricitsms. People acting like it is a death sentence being in one however are simply repeating news headline agendas. Or not comparing it to other aircraft like the Blackhawk or Stallion series. The later are more dangerous, and costly for example. Making massive reliable VTOL aircraft is simply hard due to the sheer amount of stress generated from the forces involved. Now that hate is transfering to the V 280 Valor before it even gets put into service. People think all tilt rotor are flying coffins when there is no data to back up those claims.
2
Agreed and I'm glad the AF finally doesn't have to waste money trying to make it viable. There is still debate on how effective the gun actually was anyway.. I wouldn't want to do strafing runs when a random infantry can come out from under a rock at anytime, pull a MANPAD out of their arse, and send me to the ground. We can use the money to design drones that can do the job while also being more proficient.
2
@txtworld Now I can imagine a V-280 putting it on loiter mode while he and the co pilot pick up some guns and shoot out the door haha.
2
@massemiable Uh that isn't just what stealth is about. Stealth is about limiting radar range, and TARGET LOCK ON like I said. Yet stealth also includes thermal, electric magnetic, visible light, and noise reduction. Anything to hide from identification for as long as possible. I was just saying an other guy said it was really silent for a helicopter. Which would be one hell of a feat to pull off. You do realize F-22s are spotted on radar and tracked all the time right? It is one thing tracking a stealth aircraft, and an other getting a good enough lock on for a kill. It is said the F-22 can be detected at 200 miles (or nm?), but can only be locked on at 20. By then it would launch its payload and retreat.
2
@anthonysaponaro6318 What are you mumbling about. People who don't have an actual argument always go back on, "but but freedom"! I love the F-22 but if it was not procured? Do you think the wars in Iraq or Afghanistan would have been any different? Or legacy frames couldn't do the same job? Pesky Chinese Balloons would have showed us if not for the F 22! Eh? (Just playing). Tons of projects were canceled due to cost. The F 22 was in development before the USSR fell. We were smart in canceling that after there were no threats available even though it was the best. Building cannons when pistols are good enough is stupid, and many projects get canceled due the price. Quanity does have quality. Just not on its own.
2
What I find ironic is that our issue with scram jets outside of materials is keeping them lit. You'd think humans by now would know how to start a fire, and keep it lit seeing how intrinsic fire is to us. Making fires predates home sapient, and we still haven't mastered it. We are natures pyromanics! You'd think keeping it lit would be easy peazy. Anyway I know it is a lot more complicated. Rotating Detonation Engines will be an amazing leap. I'm excited for them. What is weird is we've had scram jets. We've had hypersonic. Yet we haven't made a production plane since the SR 71. (I do believe we've had a successor that is secret.) Solid video as always.
2
Your numbers are way off. Aircraft carriers don't cost 120 Billion dollars. They cost 10 billion. Russia spends 60 plus billion a year on defense and has a GDP of over 1,500,000,000. Maybe under this year due to sanction.
2
Yeah I am suprisred how dismissive Alex, and especially the Admiral. First time I heard a general be so blunt. Usually they make the enemy seem like the enemy is superior to try to get more funding. Here he is just like, "They are truly stealth as they don't even show up on our threat radar. Flocks of birds around the runway will cause more damage. The losere." Anyway I prefer us not to underestimate our enemies. China was hiring ex pilots, and stealing any information they can get. Yet most importantly they have their hands on super computers along with AI. I imagine it is a lot easier to make iterations with them. It doesn't have to be better than ours to be dangerous. Just good enough, and who knows how fast China will be able to make a fleet.
2
Should be called SRS 2033 by the time it comes out! (S for strike at the end.)
2
Hear me out. How about. We negate this range tug of war. By putting Personal Defense Cannons on air craft. Essentially a turret that can shoot down missiles, much like a trophy system. Yet with guns. We do have the tech to do it. If we could find people smart enough to combine the sensors, a turret accurate and reactive enough. Combine the turret with proximity ammo with a uniform spread. (Like the AHEAD ammo Germany makes.) We have smart bullets that can change trajectory. Why not. Bam. Have aircraft with turrets that can pop out, shoot down missiles, and pop back in. This system already needs to be made against drones for tanks and helicopter ASAP. Literally every branch of the military would benefit immensely from that technology. We need to do it. We already are sort of making it for lasers.
2
@spartanonxy You're thinking too big mate. Think helicopter turret size. We already had planes with turrets in the past. F15ex has been known to have over 12 missiles. Technically 22 structurally max according to Boeing. We definitely could design a turret that is aerodynamic when not in use or one to fit in a weapon bay, or wing that conforms with the aircraft. With modifications of course, and not for every aircraft. Like an F 35 wouldn't be able to have one plus offensive weapons at the same time. Yet it could fly in a squadron with one defending the others. Or a drone wingman with them. No it would not be simple. Yes it means less missiles. Yet it also would mean you could defend yourself. Missiles are pretty sensitive during flight. When AHEAD ammo explodes it sends the tungsten fragments in a uniform pattern covering a wider area. A flak PDC using it would create a temporary wall of tungsten with a high probability of damaging the missile enough to miss. You use the missiles kinetic energy against it. PDCs will be the future. Mark my words. For ground vehicles and some air. I think some are already working on it. I hope China isn't. It is worth pursuing. Even if it is just against slower stuff.
2
@appa609 You know what? It was GE. Not Boeing. I kept thinking last night that I was wrong so I looked for the video today. Don't know why I kept thinking Boeing. Anyway, my bad. ! I'm excited for those engines though. They will be game changing if they can get them to work. Rotating Detonation after burners, and hybrids with SCRAM/RAM.
2
Don't forget engines. We are on the cusp of both ram jets, and better - rotating detonation engines. So add in new engines, AI, and I'm sure new stealth materials. So I'm sure they are incorporating all of it. I feel like one huge advancement is behind the scenes with powerful hardware and software allowing design iterations to go much faster than even ten years ago. Arsenal ship here we come!
2
Thought he said he would be doing Ground Power or something like that. Can't wait for that and hope the reporting is just as informative and unbiased as Air Power is! Anyway yeah I will take all the content from Sandboxx. Hands down my favorite military channel that isn't super biased towards either side.
2
No it makes perfect sense for a stop gap. With technology moving so fast it might not make sense to make orders for 2k airframes just to have them out dated in five to ten years. Not like upgrading airframes is cheap. We are spending a fortune doing it. We are on the verge of Hypersonic and RDE (engines). We are on the verge of aircraft that use no flight surfaces that will help stealth designs immensely. Forgot the name. Air to air seems to be highly dependent on who detects who first, and can reach out further. Which means big sensors, and a big interior bay for larger missiles. A war against China means we need extra range. You can't fit that into a fighter. So I've been questioning wouldn't it be amazing if the B21 took over as a missile boat for a2a. We know if has great sensors as it's job is also for recon, stealth signature, and large enough bay to carry missiles. It could literally dominate a2a along with something like the F 35. (Ya know if it can target and fire at multiple aircraft using the F 35 sensors. Or a recon drones. ) Anyway I think the AF is pushing for autonomous aircraft. Where manned aircraft are there as directors if you will. We don't have enough pilots. Think 600 short at the moment. So having drones to fight China who has a massive population advantage is paramount. So I think this is the future for sure. Long gone are the dog fights of the past or need for insane agility.
2
Was it? Out of all the technologies I wish we could declassify short of the TR3B which I've also seen back in 2007ish in Groton CT with a friend which was stupid silent and this. Also the TR3B was incredibly fast - zero to near supersonic in a blink of an eye. No sonic boom, which makes me wonder if they do have some noise canceling technology, or somehow they fly with a pitch outside of human hearing. You're the first to say it was super quiet. So now you really piqued my interests! Always wondered how stealthy they are. When I first heard of a stealth helicopter I thought it was the dumbest concept ever to be honest. Helicopters as we know it are going to go obsolete in the next few decades anyway, or should since they are hitting theroitcal limits. Maybe get a few more like the new small scout helicopter, but that is it. Tilt powdered aircraft are superior.
1
@djoswald9128 That or they can function in a Hz range outside of human hearing. Would be cool if they could send or project waves to cancel out certain sounds ahead of something. I've seen the TR3B with a friend. Thing was completely silent! It also took off like a bullet - no acceleration. Seemed like it basically hit super sonic, but no boom. While I didn't see the turn it must have banked at a right angle as it was only out of sight for a split second. It all happened in seconds just about. Years later one of my exes I told the story to freaked out, and asked me if that is what we saw since it fit the description. Sure enough it is. I was shocked when I saw Sandboxx of all places freaken reporting on it! Let alone Alex seeing it. Only place I completely trust with information and no propaganda.
1
@DUKE_of_RAMBLE aren't both AMD and Intel expanding massively in the US on top with FABs while locking in some newer machines from ASLM PLUS TSCM? It is why China is so angry. I wonder what are the majior companies who make the parts and tools that those two juggernauts use. I am a layman and only recently had these companies brought to my attention and it's interesting. No one ever thinks about the physical aspects of chip manufacturing but only software. I can't find any easy digestible reads on the ground up on how logic gates can make a video game. Trying to learn on architecture and the therotical possibilities of that.
1
Add me to the list. My friend and I absolutely saw one late at night when he was bringing me home. Groton CT! I saw something and was like huh that has weird lights. You see that? Not just better range. It will be like the Tomcat I suppose or other interceptors. Massive, fast, and larger payload both internally and externally so they can carry some truly massive missiles. Agile? Just enough but I think they'll go big on being fast and efficient first and use other methods like thrust vectoring for maneuverability. I'm not convinced that a gun is necessary TBH. Missile and computer technology has improved. When was the last air to air gun kill? 1980? A-10 against a helicopter? Oh and I'm sure they'll want a lot of extra power. Especially if lasers for defense are actually going to become a thing. EW warfare is one thing I cannot speculate on. This thing after all isn't just going to be a fighter unless they are going to use the F35Cs and Bs for strike missions.
1
@johndoh5182 I hear that AWACs is the coach. F 35 is a QB. The F 22 AND B 21 are WRs.
1
I do not think we do have anything better, that is reliable. If it was as good as Alex is making it I think the AF would have picked it. Like someone high up in brass told a reporter. Would you rather get one hypersonic or 100 regular stealth cruise missiles, along with decoys? Which is a valid point. The military shouldn't care about vanity on making the fastest for the sake of being the fastest. They need to make the most cost effective weapons, that get the job done. I'm not sure how often you need to destroy the target ASAP quite honestly. Personally I thought this was an air to air missile which made sense. Yet I know it is hard to make targeting systems at those speeds. Something about the atmosphere around a hypersonic vehicle causing interference with any signals. Personally I think range is the most important thing. Hitting the enemy before they can hit you is the way to go.
1
Honestly I don't believe that for a second. Everything fails. I have seen it, but won't sit here and say it was aliens. Anyway maybe aliens don't give a rats ass about staying hidden. I won't pretend to know what I saw and I definitely won't pretend to know it's purpose or motivations. I just know the thing I saw made no noise. Didn't accelerate. Went from hovering for five minutes to over the horizon nearly faster then my friend and I could track. Before making a directional change right as it hit the horizon to head east over the ocean. I couldn't see the turn for that second it went over but it seemed like it made an L shape turn before finally setting off towards the ocean never to be seen by me or my friend again.
1
@JacobSmith-xo8sm Damn so it was massive then. Yeah, with it being night time? It was crazy to seethe silhouette on an aircraft making no noise! Then once it took off with zero acceleration? I was flabbergasted. I didn't really believe in any UFO. Man made or otherwise. Still don't know what to make of it honestly. Pretty fair to say was in denial. I'm so glad my friend was with me to see it. How long ago was this for you anyway? What is crazy is we don't have any modern videos of it. Now that we can actually get pictures or videos with zoom at night time! Maybe whatever it is? It is more careful.
1
@kameronjones7139 I bet just as overhyped as the "insurmountable" 400. With the crap talking out of the way I know if it a system you don't want to be flying against. What is crazy about Russian AA missiles is how large the fuckers things are. They remind me of an ICBM. Now if we can take out their EW too that would be great. I'm not sure how many Russia has though, but they are jamming our munitions and throwing them off a considerable amount.
1
I seriously hope the B 21 can do air to air. Maneuvering on a dime isn't important. Having huge sensors, and being able to see the enemy before they see you using stealth, and out ranging them. Is the only foreseeable way America will win. We cannot out produce a country triple our size. A country who can make their citizens do whatever they want. Who can pay less on everything from wages to benefits. I don't have high hopes for Trump to make any global pacts, or have any political tact at all. In fact quite the opposite. He will weaken our alliances. So unless we are smarter. Or lucky. We seriously need to figure out if the future war will be cheap drones, which we are behind, or expensive platforms with exquisite performance that stomps everything. What we need is a bigger budget suitable for a cold war damn it. Why have Republicans gone from Cold War Warriors to licken a (Russians) Putins boots. We are screwed. I don't have faith in our politicans nor our military industrial complex to do anything, but milk, and get rich first amongst all else. Even to the detriment of the future. Or Americas place in the world.
1
Yup. We see it in the Ukarine war when Russia had a huge advantage and was stopped due to it (add in underestimating Ukarinin resistance ). It's why Americas military is the best in the world. Other countries may have comparable weapons and systems but they don't have the logistical capabilities relative to America. I was just reading a conversation with German and British soldiers. They said that's one thing their respective countries need to work harder on instead of relying on America. I guess they were impressed with how quickly US would move large amounts of supplies.
1
Practice what you preach. I'll ask you one more time. What happened to the fucking last six cookies? Hmmm? HMMM? 🤔
1
Wait till Rapid Dragon improves. Will be able to take out a squadron of aircraft with F 35s giving data. Not just that. Maybe one day they will be able to take out say a squadron, and send ground attack missiles at aircraft on the runways at the same time. War is going to be dicey. No one is going to trust any transport plane.
1
GIVE them point defense turrets from the Expanse damn it! Turret stays hidden. Missle locks. F 35 picks it up. Pilot turns belly into missile if need be. Turret opens up from the bay. Shoots down missile with 25mm cannons. Retracts.
1
They did a U 2. Landed it too I believe which is insane. Also they put a F 35B on a Zumwalt I guess haha! Seriously why not use the JTAO systems. Rockets are reliable and cheap so I never understood why we don't create some reusable rockets for STOL.
1
@fatdoi003 Nah they are building new F-15EX. Keyword is building as the older frames reach their service life. (Wonder if we mothball them because theoretically they may still be able to be fixed? Keep parts still able to be used? Sell them to desperate countries? Scrap?)
1
@justiron2999 Yeah or sell them to countries that are willing to have older airframes and possibly recycle the money for an other aircraft. Give them to the USMC haha. I have read we cannot recreate the B1-b pivot joint. I call pure BS on that. I bet we could do better even with newer production and material processes. It's a shame that beauty is going though as now the closest thing to a low altitude supersonic bomber is our strike fighters. Then again maybe we don't need super heavy bombers at all with prescicion guided weapons and Bombs like the CBU. Project Mayhem is in the works and I've read the AF is considering a program for the F16.
1
@robertrider1251 Why?
1
@divermike8943 Well yeah. Who knows. I just wanna say I say a verifiable UFO with a friend. I will save you the story. I seen the same thing as Alex here did actually, in Connecticut no less. Anyway when my friend and I saw it there were no cell phones with good cameras. Especially at night. Long story short it hovered for a few minutes before taking off over the horizon, popping back up seen cutting right towards the ocean. It had like no acceleration. My friend for the next month called me at all times of the night asking me to look X direction of the sky. Ugh it was annoying. I had to be like dude I can hear the rotors it is a helicopter. Or be like that is definitely an airliner. Anyway just was saying paranoia is real when it comes to these things. While we both did see something crazy. We haven't seen an other since. First one was unexplainable for being silent while hovering before taking off like a bullet. All the other ones clearly were traditional aircraft. What I seen is known as the Tr3b. Found out years later online! Use to be a common UFO. Alex saw that shit right above him. Answered the question myself friend and I didn't know. If it was big high up or small down low. Turns out it is simply massive.
