  13. It doesn't work like this. Crimea has several southern/eastern ports (IE Feodosyia) that can be used to resupply it. If the Ukrainians are not able to enforce a real naval blockade around it (and they aren't) the Russians are not going to leave it without a fight.

Sorry, for 6 months the Russians smashed their heads on Bakhmut, not Soledar. Soledar was only one of MANY villages on the frontline, not particularly interested by attacks. THEN, since it was evident they would have never taken Bakhmut, to have a success to show to the public, the Russians attacked Soledar in force, like taking a village without major roads and with a water obstacle west of it has some great strategic relevance.

  25. Russian communicates are bogus, but the drones exploding on the ground in particular is not an evidence of not having been intercepted. The splinters of a proximity fuse shell or missile rarely ignite the explosive charge on the drone (TNT is very stable). They mostly damages the drone engine and controls, rip off wings etc. Secondary explosions, or explosions too big to be justified by the drone fuel (mostly depleted at that point) and charge are a sign that the actual target had been hit.

  27. US pilots are no better than the average western pilot. The F16 is currently in use by 25 countries around the world, with 4 former operators. None of them had a particular difficulty in using it , and their accident rates are no different than the US ones.

They are not in their country, no forests to hide in, completely oblivious of modern warfare, and will be used AS cannon fodder BY Russians, IN PLACE of national Russian UNDER Russian command. The only upside is that they are the only soldiers in the world that will eat better with Russian rations.

  41.  @jamesm875  Again, that's IN AIR. The grenade exploded IN WATER. Water is 800 times more dense than air, and stops bullets and fragments VERY quickly. It only needs 1m of water to stop a .223 Rem bullet (that's otherwise still lethal at 1km). Grenade fragments are less penetrant than that.

Se lì per terra, con la mitragliatrice, a tenere sotto tiro gli "arresi", ci fosse stato, non parliamo neanche di un americano, ma un soldato italiano, professionista, perfettamente istruito sulle convenzioni internazionali di guerra, mi aspetto che avrebbe tirato il grilletto per rilasciarlo solo in uno dei seguenti due casi: 1) quando fosse stato sicuro che nessuno dei nemici più si muoveva. 2) perchè era finito il nastro.
