8”/mile^2 obviously.

I’m guessing you’re thinking of Mad Mike, who believed he could build a steam-powered rocket that could take him up to the Karman line. He raised money from FEers by telling thdm he would be able to prove the Earth was flat. The ascent of the best rocket took him to about 10,000ft (not bad though nowhere near space) but the descent parachute failed; he died on impact. The joke has been cracked that a FEer proved gravity exists.

@metadragon7500 Yes, it's that simple. Shipping sperm around is cheaper than shipping horses around for specific breeding programmes.
37
@huismus111 I could joke about NY air pollution obscuring them; I couldn’t see the Chrysler building from the Twin Towers.
33
“Render distance” You think Earth is a computer simulation?
29
@MrQuaiven It’s obvious how 😊
28
Why would the Bible be the only source of information? Why is observing the sun rising & setting irrelevant?
25
How much of the Earth you can see depends on how high you are; the higher you are the further you can see and hence the greater the area you can see. There's no problem with proportionality on the globe; it's the FE'er inability to understand scale & distance.
22
@pastoryoda294 There’s a frequently repeated comment that if the Earth was flat then cats would have pushed everything off by now.
21
If you didn’t see any armed penguins then you were in Area 51.
21
You realise that all they need to do for starters is produce testable hypotheses? That just requires thought, not a budget. The ancient Greeks deduced the Earth was a globe 2500 years ago from observation of the sun, moon & stars; we’re still waiting for FE’ers to produce a hypothetical model that would explain the observable phenomena or even an explanation how they think NASA influenced the ancient Greeks.
20
I doubt you can answer any questions intelligently; most if you have to have the questions explained to you.
19
First produce evidence that it exists.
19
The tangential velocity at the equator would be 25000/24 mile per hour. The rotational velocity is one revolution per day which sounds far less dramatic thus the 1000mph gets quoted by the FE gurus even though nothing rotates in a straight line and the tangential velocity varies with latitude.
19
@daviddolezal7950 There’s no such things as negative pressure (a vacuum is zero pressure). That you don’t know how a planet can have atmosphere is ignorance on your part, not fantastic insight. Parroting what you heard from some ignoramus is not spreading wisdom; it’s parroting ignorance.
19
Evidence?
19
@harrypatton8269 There are currently no direct flights between the southern continents because of Covid limiting flight everywhere. Look ahead to next March.
18
@harrypatton8269 Sea-level refers to elevation, not curvature.
18
Evidence?
18
Possibly claim that the secret NASA programming embedded in the internet has manipulated the pictures en route. 😊
17
Another idiot who can’t understand how masks & vaccines work….
17
Only where cats were involved. 😊
16
Which is how the ancient Greeks deduced the Earth was a sphere.
16
The first is a lunar eclipse; the Earth’s shadow passes across the moon.
16
And hence used to describe a force that gives weight to objects.
16
Rats don’t continually spout gibberish.
16
Neither is your comment if you can’t say why.
16
Watch the video.
15
The motion is similar but not identical; the direction of rotation is in the opposite direction. It’s an ambiguous description.
15
A scientific theory is a comprehensive explanation for a natural phenomenon that is well-substantiated by extensive observation and experimentation. It is not a guess or hunch; that is the vernacular meaning of theory. What do you think the valid FE ideas are?
15
@boterlettersukkel Why waste the energy kicking them out - let them open the airlock on their own while trying to prove there's a studio outside.
14
Under gooseberry bushes. With the decline in home births it has become apparent they aren't brought in the doctors' black bags.
14
You realise that planes require fuel and have both a maximum range & speed?
14
Which of the challenges are you going to try and meet?
14
No, they don’t. Azimuthal projections do get used in aviation but for limited distances and from particular locales, not the North Pole.
14
@Captain Charisma A laser gyroscope demonstrates rotation; Globebusters were kind enough to demonstrate while trying to prove it didn't. Stellar parallax indicates that the Earth is in an orbit; the orbital time and the dimensions of the orbit are what determine the speed. "NASA admitted they're composite" One particular photo composed from shots taken from LEO. FE'ers naturally conclude that every picture ever ever ever taken just gotta be a composite, including shots taken in a single frame on an analogue camera.
14
Numbers seem to be an anathema to FEers; they make claims of knowing the Real Physics but assiduously avoid involving numbers.
14
You think those are the pertinent questions in ascertaining the shape of the Earth?
13
A globe has a consistent scale. Projections of the globe onto a flat surface creates distortion and an inconsistent scale. A flat map of a flat surface would have no such distortion and thus a consistent scale.
13
Asking how we know it is a globe is a reasonable question. Denying the observable reality of nature is not.
13
How did the astronaut/camera come to be on the outside of the impenetrable dome?
13
Try actually rebutting each instead of saying “Nah!”
13
Over the horizon, disappearing from the bottom up.
13
It reflects the depths of their thought processes.
13
Pythagoras was one of the people who deduced the Earth was a sphere around 500BC. It was Eratosthenes who measured the circumference about 300BC. You can demonstrate the Earth’s surface is curved with three or more sticks.
13
Example?
13
@yumm186 Motion of the sun, horizons, angle to Polaris, two celestial poles, all of which you can verify for yourself.
13
It’s the exact alignment of sun, earth & moon casting the Earth’s shadow on the moon.
12
Lies such as what? We’re talking about a few atoms/molecules per cubic metre and a body with insufficient gravitational force to counter the kinetic energy those atoms/molecules have.
12
Motion of the sun, horizons, angle to Polaris matching latitude, constellations changing with latitude & season, two celestial poles and lunar eclipses always having circular shadows. All verifiable by anybody & everybody.
