At the time the comment was made the only cameras in space were in low orbit. 20 years on there are cameras in geostationary orbit and L1 position collectively taking several full hemisphere shots per hour. Check Himawari-8, Elektro-L and EPIC. You can’t get a signal in a tunnel because the ground blocks the signal. Earth to Mars is open space; nothing there to block the signal.

  28.  @armaankaker  Thinking critically would be asking how something works and what the evidence to support that conclusions is. Folks like FE’ers simply look for something that differs from accepted knowledge and avoid asking such question, believing their gullibility is critical thinking.

  40. The atmosphere rotates with the Earth. Objects can pass beyond the limit of your visual acuity long before they reach the horizon; if they are between the two then you can bring them back but not if they have passed beyond the horizon. Zooming them back before they reach the horizon tells ou sweet FA about the horizon. 8"/mile^2 is a rule of thumb, a parabolic equation (not circular) and assumes no elevation & atmospheric refraction. Nobody has zoomed the set sun back into view.

When the plane is stationary on the ground it is moving with the Earth. It retains that eastwards momentum when it takes off in the same way that a thrown ball continue moving when it leaves your hand.

  50. That’s only because they insist on using the wrong maths to calculate how far they can see. It doesn’t matter how many times its explained to them; the Thinkers are unwilling to think beyond a single equation with only one variable.
