Brexit has certainly solved the EU collapse problem. All talk of other nations leaving has grown very silent indeed. Thank you, UK!
302
When Parliament no longer scrutinises government, democracy is no more.
244
"It has already happened". Sobering, that. And true. As the man in the hat likes to say, "numpties put the cross in the wrong box" and gave the charlatan almost absolute power in the UK, much more power than e.g. Trump had. But it is no use looking back. There is a battle to be fought, and it is the battle of common sense. Your channel is playing a vital part in that battle. Keep up the good work!
226
It is quite outrageous that they will not lift a finger for regular unemployed, but will make sure they have a cushy safety net for themselves. The pinnacle of hypocrisy.
205
Excellent video! Keep reminding people of the Brexit lies.
204
"We are a service-based economy" Not any more, you ain't. "Welcome to the Brexit, Sir"
194
The EU has no need to put pressure on Bozo or his clowns. As they say: "Never interrupt your enemy while he is digging his own grave, rather lend him a spade".
175
Brits threaten all the time, then do not carry through. The EU does not. It speaks softly, and means EXACTLY what it says.
145
Brexit is a great example of what a government can do without a free press. The Brexitards don't even know they are being played!
128
The changes in the polls show one thing: the immaturity of UK English voters.
114
It is funny how quickly the Brexitards have moved from "WTO-rules will be fine" to "The EU needs to co-operate with us". Pretty soon they will propose the EU adopt UK standards on food and products, and call it mean for giving them the finger.
84
Canceling the nip in order to make brexit look less bad would be an extremely cruel, cynical and selfish deed. Shows you what type of people the Tories are.
79
This Brexit may not be the Brexit he voted for, but it is the Brexit that was predicted by experts.
78
I was wondering how on earth a UK minister had found the courage to face a critical public and take questions. Now I understand: the audience was carefully vetted. The BBC is complicit in the destruction of the UK.
76
"My friend told me to divorce you." "What?" "She says you beat me up all the time." "But I don't. I am very nice to you. I have never laid a finger on you." "And she says you are very stingy with the money." "But I give you almost everything you ask for, and you are free to use our accounts as you please!" "I am going to divorce you anyway. My friend tells me I will be happier that way." "Well, good luck then. I'll be waiting for you if you ever want to come back. But you will need to leave my house, and won't be able to use my car anymore. As you know, we put that in the prenup contract." "That is SO MEAN of you!" -- A Brexit analogy.
74
To paraphrase Robert Burn: "This house has nothing but poverty; promises and poverty".
74
"None of his MPs understand how the economy works, otherwise they wouldn't be Tories" Great line, Phil, and absolutely true. Humanity works best when co-operating, so when we allow those who work hard to enjoy the fruit of their labours, everybody benefits. Even Henry Ford, for all his faults, knew that taking good care of his workers meant that they took good care of him. For many reasons, not least of which is that when you pay more, you get to choose & pick the best workers instead of getting stuck with the worst.
73
It looks like the EU planned ahead. They couldn't have foreseen this moment, could they?
68
Suffering in silence because you believe everybody outside the country is suffering even worse. I thought only North Koreans did that...
67
Brexit reminds me of me leaving my parental house to live on my own for the first time. I was 6. I got all of 20 meters before I returned, tears in my eyes, as I reflected on the harsh realities of the world outside the parental home.
62
Excellent video, Phil. Life is not a zero-sum game. Brexit, on the other hand, is a negative-sum game. In fact, economical suicide.
60
This is a sad day for Scotland.
56
People who thought that the Tory government was going to level up the regional funding, will get what they deserve.
54
The BBC needs to be very ashamed of itself for allowing the government to use it for propaganda. Lying about Brexit now will only increase the anger when people realise they have been conned.
54
"Helping larger corporations crush the smaller ones" One of the reasons why these raised wages will be temporary. If the unions are not seriously strengthened, the power of the bosses will only increase.
50
There were always going to be businesses that profited from Brexit. Like those that second customs experts or drivers, builders of parking lots or various types of consultants. It is just that these do not increase UK productivity.
48
Facemasks only protecting others? Tories: Great, I won't need one then.
48
And this is why you should never vote based on a single issue. Life is not about a single issue, and has a habit of punishing those that think it is.
47
I hadn't thought of the invasion as a heist, but that definitely makes sense. Much more, actually, than the accepted view that he wants to "restore" the Russian empire.
44
The UK is in a lot of trouble. At a time where the government is facing challenges unseen since 1945, you have a narcissistic pathological liar, who has zero accountability, backed by grifters whose only thought is lining their own pockets at the expense of everybody else's.
42
For those paying attention, the UK economy started to drop significantly before the rest of the world. That means the drop has a different cause than Covid, or at least there is a significant other factor involved. As you say, cause and effect. If the drop in jan 2020 were cause by Covid, the UK economy must have been prescient, as at that time the world was still operating as if nothing was the matter. China was still denying there was a problem.
40
The UK populace kept consuming this propaganda without recognising it for what it is. For at least 3 decades! And still people do not realise who the real culprit is: Murdoch and the other extreme right-wing media. I guess the people need to suffer a bit more until the get sick of the lies.
39
The saddest thing about this situation is that even when after all that pain people do vote for Labour, it will take time before things get better. And voter memories are so short...
39
Thank you for representing the viewpoint of the EU! The EU has been EXTREMELY lenient and patient with the UK, making the standard Brexiteer rhetoric all the more ridiculous.
38
The EU does not want Brexit to fail. The EU was designed to intertwine national economies in such a way that it would be suicide to extract from it, in order to prevent a third world war. Brexit proves it succeeded.
37
This is what you get when you think ignorance is "endearing". It is easy to be ignorant. It should never be a badge of honour.
37
Carl Stone All fascists point to some imagined point in the past where their nation was the King of the World, and then had their "Rightful Position" taken from them by "The Enemy". Hitler had the dolchstoß anti-jew theory, Mussolini pointed to the Roman Empire, Trump has the "Lost Cause" myth and the Red Scare anti-democrat lies, Putin points to the glory of Stalin and how the west destroyed the USSR, Brexiteers point to the glory pre WW2 and the EU as enemy. It is the sentiment of betrayal that makes fascism so hard to beat. Everybody who tries to talk some sense is made out to be another traitor.
36
As the Dutch saying goes: "Better a good neighbour than a far-away friend".
36
@peterparker219 Absolutely right. The UK in its current state would fail the convergence criteria. Amongst others, the un-elected House of Lords has to go, or be replaced by something that is democratically elected. Lord Frosty is going to be so upset about this...
35
"He needs his braying donkeys behind him" I was waiting for that line ;-)
35
The government is desperately keeping up appearances. It won't last.
34
All I can say is: British journalists still have a lot to learn. Glad to see some are growing a back bone, though.
34
About the Yacht: Exactly what I thought when that plan became known. The Brits aren't particularly know for building super-yachts. The Dutch, Germans and Italians, are.
34
It took some time, but the pigs have finally taken over the farm. And they are making a right mess out of it. Oh, wait that was another of Orwell's books.
34
The British people have been bred and trained to obey those greater than themselves. Only an extreme pressure can break them out of that mold and force them (or at least, some of them) to start and think for themselves. Will Brexit finally do it? Yeah, Yeah, I now, gross generalizations here, but their continued support for the Conservatives shows it is true to a large extent for about half the population.
33
They will be permitted back in the Single Market & Customs Union. Just not as a member of the EU. They will be taking rules, but have zero power to influence them. And they will be fined big time if they fail to adhere to the rules. So much for sovereignty.
33
The most despicable part of this is that Patel's parents were immigrants. Utterly shameful.
32
The UK used to be inter-dependent as an equal among the EU nations. Now it is quickly becoming dependent on foreign aid. Well done, Brexiteers!
32
And both are ruled by the gutter press.
32
Has anyone noticed that they way these PPE contracts were awarded would have been illegal in the EU? Given that UK manufacturers of PPE tried to be couldn't sell PPE to the NHS, serious fraud was involved at the highest levels, that willfully endangered the lives of NHS staff and patients, causing actual deaths. It would be a gross miscarriage of justice if those responsible did not land themselves prison sentences.
