Brexit is what you get when you give a bunch of in-bred, over-confident frat boys the keys to your apartment. It doesn't look pretty, and it stinks.
5
I experienced my first Bonfire day in Scotland, and thought it quite cheeky to celebrate an attempt to blow up Parliament...
5
I love your bit about peeling the orange ;-) A fitting rebuke for putting a foot on Macron's antique table.
5
Brexit is the result of a long, systematic mis-information campaign. The UK media have been blaming the EU for everything wrong in the UK for some 3 decades that I know of, possibly longer. And the UK government took personal credit for everything the EU achieved in the UK, helped by the media. Now they are paying the price for not differentiating between propaganda and facts. For the life of me, I can not understand why Murdoch and the other media moguls did this, but they sure have something to explain when they approach the Heavenly Judge. They single-handedly destroyed a nation, causing incredible grief, all to enrich themselves that little bit more?
5
No way. They will keep gaslighting the public and blaming the EU for every ill in the UK. The UK MSM is not innocent in Brexit. In fact, it is the main driver behind Brexit. UK politics follow the MSM. I do not know what their motive is, but you can be assured there is a LOT of money involved.
5
@RealMash Yep, it will at some point come apart. The UK government will do all it can to direct that rupture away from itself. I pray to God they will not succeed, and those that are to blame will be blamed by the People. Many regimes in similar circumstances start a war, like Argentina did in the eighties...
5
@williampatrickfagan7590 Add a zero to that. 50,000 officials by them selves cost several billion pounds each year. IF you can find them.
5
To be honest, I was rooting for Italy. Bozo and the other Brexiteers were already insufferable after the previous match. Waffling on about Brexit and how great England is, suddenly acting like great fans. And because of the unfair advantage of having only a handful Italian supporters compared to the mass of England fans. And because of the way they won their previous match, compliments of a laser pointer. If England really was so good at football, how come this was their first major finale since 1966?
5
Somehow, the Etonites have not yet learned that vital lesson that all cities are three meals away from revolution. They will soon.
5
Unicef is already treating you as a third-world country, so yeah.
5
We are seeing yet another exciting action in Project Save Big Dog. Get on with it, put the dog down already.
5
@nettcologne9186 Same for the Netherlands. There are debates on how to keep the Dutch Language alive in Universities, English has become the norm. PhD students have been majority foreign for a loooong time.
5
Until the right-wing press starts pointing it out. I.e. NEVER. The Tories are doing very well out of Brexit, turning the nation into a totalitarian Kleptocracy. With them the winners.

@hannahdyson7129 "army on the streets" It is that belief that makes it so. The French put it to the test. Most of the times, the People won. If things go as I think they will, the British people may soon have no option but to take to the streets.
4
Just imagine, your ex still wanting to drive your car? Brexitards 🤦🤦🤦
4
A LOOOOOT of people. They'd better learn to be paper pushers, that is the current area of growth.
4
Many people know the quote "There are lies, dreadful lies and statistics". But most do not realise that the fault lies not with statistics per se, but with the people who purposely abuse them to mislead those who do not understand statistics.
4
@BENTWOONEZERO Of course it is not growing. Trade is down, services are down, pigs are culled, crops rot in the fields, many workers have left, many more are filling in new forms instead of producing things of value, the HMRC has warned for lower tax revenues, of course the GB economy is shrinking. But the UK government is very good at hiding such things... Also you need to take inflation into account. That is why GDP's are compensated for purchasing power when compared.
4
Apart from a great tactical move by Truss, this is the perfect type of red meat that continues to save Big Dog. The only reason to give it attention is to demonstrate the utter lunacy of the derailed Tory party.
4
It isn't the politicians. It is the garbage media that dictates the public debate in the UK. For England to begin to heal, the Sun, the Daily Fail, the Telegraph etc need to go out of business. And the BBC needs to be cleansed of all political appointees.
4
Well said. News papers are not diplomatic channels
4
@pauln6803 Make that "selfish short-term political gain". His scope for decision making is weeks. The decisions he has made will cause the long-term destruction of the Tory party, but he couldn't care less. Like his great example across the pond.
4
@rippspeck If (when) the UK splits into three or four parts, most of those parts will I think be very welcome. The England-part will not be welcome until it has been thoroughly humbled, adopts the Euro, and changed its constitution to have direct representation. No more district / First Past The Post voting!
4
@blameyourself4489 Try explaining that to a Yank. Trust me, I have.
4
Pretty soon they will be seasonal workers tugging their fore-locks for the new owners of what used to be their land. The nasty thing about Brexit is that you only get to make that stupid mistake once, and then have to live with the consequences.
4
"This country is lost" It breaks my heart, but I think you are right. As long as they continue to blame the EU for everything that goes wrong in the UK, even now when the EU has zero power over the UK, there is no way the UK can learn from its mistakes or reverse its course. There is a nice spot reserved deep inside Hell for the main instigators of Brexit, but that will be small comfort.
4
Given that the Tory government consistently acts to hurt Scottish interests I am amazed there is not more desire the break off the UK. The UK is on a strong downward path, I'd leave the ship as soon as possible.
4
@vectravi2008 "The fault that the EU must accept" The EU did many things for the UK that should have been noticed by the public. However, there has been a consistent anti-EU campaign in the right-wing media for at least 3 decades now, and UK government has also consistently been blaming the EU for everything that went wrong in the UK, and taking credit for things the EU did for the UK. The ultimate fault is with the UK populace that chose to listen to the lies. The UK needs to grow up and start taking responsibility for the state it is in. At all levels, starting with the populace. Government won't change until the people change.
4
Excellent analysis as usual!
4
All over the world, Murdoch has created blatant fascist propaganda channels that brainwash whole populations. That empire needs to come down. A few good law cases might do it, like the Dominion suits in the US. Even better would be some in-depth investigative journalism pieces revealing how and why Murdoch manipulates nations. There must be illicit financial links to political parties or nations intent on destroying Democracy.
4
I am sure Bozo will claim he inherited a mess from May, come the next election, and that she is guilty for the Brexit fiasco.
4
A trade war with the EU has a BIG benefit for the Tories: it would mean they can blame all England's misery on the EU again, no matter how unfairly. For this reason, I doubt the EU will take decisive action. They will certainly wait until the Ukraine war is over to avoid dissensions in the anti-Russia alliance, but probably they will wait until 2025 when they pull the plug on the financial centers in London. Which again would suit the Tories fine because that will be after the next GE. It is unimaginable and revolting how much damage these clowns are willing to do to the people in the UK, only to stay in power a few more months. As Tusk said, there will be a special place in Hell for these monsters who betrayed the trust of their People.
4
@Kohanman We did NOT elect said blatant racist. Wilders got less than 25% of the vote. He still needs to form a government that can count on the support of the majority of Parliament. If he is unable to do that, someone else will be PM. And even if he is able to form a government, the moment he acts on his racist impulses, his government will fall.
4
"whose bacon looks to be getting saved" Thanks, Putin. In fact, I wouldn't put it beyond him to have organised this whole kerfuffle to keep Bozo in the saddle.
4
I still remember the arrogance with which Bozo rejected the idea of an extension. The EU is having a good laugh, and I think Gove will return empty handed.
4
You are incorrect about how Poland is being treated. It is being fined 1 million euros PER DAY for its government control of the judiciary, and its Corona support of 13 billion euros (of the top of my head) are permanently frozen. Also their seat at the ECJ has been taken away. More sanctions will be taken as and when necessary, but let them chew on this for a week or two (these sanctions were taken last week).
4
I think they will. The withdrawal agreement was between two nations in a trading block, but any changes to it will be between the EU and "a third nation", ie. subject to WTO scrutiny.
4
There are lots of little ports in France who are also getting a piece. We can't be selfish.
4
@matthewq4b Same troll using a different screen name.
4
Great point! No sending off of the brave troops this time, just needing to pay a bit more for specific items, and a few companies going bust -- that just happen to be in e.g. Johnson's district.
4
Excellent summary of what has been going on. Keep up the good work! At some point, the Brits will become sensible.
4
Big thing is, you can prove you deserve better -- by doing what is necessary to change this situation. If you don't you are indeed proving you deserve this government. (talking about massive protests, Gillets Jaunes style)
4
@Nettcologne: your comment hit a nerve: the resident trolls are stirring! Well done.
4
A Tory. Straight from the mold of Ebenezer Scrooge.
4
Yeah. It is high time for the EU to step up to the plate, economically, politically and militarily. The Euro will soon replace the USD as the currency of choice for international trade. The USA will be focused inward for the next decade at least, and the leadership vacuum it leaves must be filled by someone. Let that be the EU, that would be much better than China (the only other serious contender).
4
@mixodorians12 If you had made your plight known to the EU, they would likely have acted on your behalf. As I understand it, it was up to the UK government to list which areas were up for EU subsidies... You should have protested, vigorously, against the UK government. With Brexit you have made things MUCH worse for yourselves.
4
Brexit is giving the UK a crash-course on the value of experts. So far, its students are failing at the exams by ticking the wrong box...
4
@geraldhewing2076 "he's doing his best" No, he is using the opportunity to siphon money into his mates' pockets...
4
It isn't the call for ceasefire by itself. But this call is one-sided, and penalizes the defendant in this situation. Hamas is undoubtedly the aggressor, and that should be reflected in the motion.
4
@jjefferyworboys8138 They may not vote Tory, but given enough hunger, they may well hunt Tories.
