That almost sounds like you are using common sense, no one is entitled to do that these days.
2
She obviously wasn't targeting babies from that group then?
2
@Ian-xt1mb I bet you don't contribute much to society in general, probably on handouts with your rent and rates paid for. They probably would have rejected you anyway due to you not washing often.
2
@jamieeames8934 It is all well and fine you saying that and obviously what you say is quite correct. HOWEVER, I still find it hard to accept that it took 10 months unless there was procrastination by people who stood to gain enormously by prolonging the case. If they were on a normal hourly rate for a working man it wouldn't be so bad but the amount they charge per hour for nothing much and certainly nothing productive is obscene.
2
@jamieeames8934 It is way more per hour than most decent people actually earn.
2
@Epidian I had never even heard of it until this case!
2
@Hypersonik Have you any clue how wealthy Brand is? I suspect he has way more money than anyone leaping to his defence could dream of and while he might protest, in real terms it won't affect him one bit.
2
@maximisatwat So a serial killer writes his memoirs and makes a fortune from the sort of ghouls who love that stuff?
2
@karenyoung8341 It is too easy to doctor digital recordings and make the police look bad.
2
@topd0wn But when you vote are you not expressing your opinion regarding who you want to run the country?
2
The problem with suing a trust is that the people actually responsible are not penalised and any money you "win" will come from the public purse. The only way to get things changed would be to sue the management (or whoever you feel was responsible) directly.
2
@fluxington He seems to completely misunderstand the meaning and purpose of legal fiction.
2
@richardturpin3665 A tv presenter just used the words baubles which sums up a lot of what Knowles says.
2
@sadtranz4451 Try somewhat the other side of that fence. I someone causes an accident and is found to be DUI then I believe they should have their car crushed and never be allowed to drive again (as a minimum!)
2
It is a bit like pleading poverty when caught shoplifting. Understandable when it is a loaf of bread but not when it is a pair of designer trainers. I wonder how many of these drivers have more than a pretty basic older car?
2
@lxdimension Not another BMW / Audi driver complaining about speed limits on roads were 20 is quite often plenty if not excessive under some circumstances.
2
@Old_Man_Pete People seem to have no concept of average speed and hence journey time hence they think 20 is some kind of conspiracy.
2
@acampbell8614 And it seems that this applies to certain stereotypes of people.

One of the funniest tales of attempted robbery I heard was when a guy I used to work with was in a cheap supermarket in the local slightly rough town. He suddenly realised someone was after his wallet in his trouser pocket so sharply bought his elbow up. The potential victim is a big lad but I am sure he didn't intend to lay the would be thief out cold!
2
A few damaged cars helps with enforcement.
2
Are they incompetent or is it deliberate?
2
@marksapollo The internet is fine but not necessarily always that safe for kids. Look how the looting in Oxford Street was organised for a good example, let alone the poor lad who got ambushed and knifed. It would be fine if the kids stuck to basic phones although quoting crime figures as a reason for them is not meaningful. We had our grandchildren for 4 weeks over in France earlier this year and one of the first things they noticed was less people glued to their phones and therefore much more polite and aware of what was happening around them. Both had their iPhones but often there was no reception or wifi so they were not much use. When one of them managed to break the special charger lead (not the normal USB type) they very soon didn't have working phones. The change to them was amazing! They suddenly started to do normal childhood things and even join in with more grown up stuff. Grand daughter discovered she had a gift for fishing and provided several free meals.

@aitchellarmoire9944 As I stated, I do not really know the answer - I voted Reform in the hope that it might make who ever won think a bit.
2
@S.Trades I have been pulled over only 3 times and all for good reason. 1st time because I misunderstood the actions of the police car and pulled out think they had slowed down to let me,, I was also driving a very old and tatty camper van. A polite response from me to questions and a polite word from the officer and I was on my way without even checking my papers. 2nd time I confess that my actions might have been provocative in a way, but again, politeness all round. 3rd time, yes I had unknowingly committed an offence by having someone riding in the rear of an estate car not in a proper seat. Politeness all round and a ticket for use and construction well deserved.
2
One classic error early on was your statement regarding guns being designed for one purpose- this is totally false and inaccurate!
1
Well said.
1
@jamespurchase4035 As all dodgy businessmen and criminals know.
1
@janyb1907 As long as that holds true in carcinogenic dust laden areas I don't mind.
1
@cplcabs What about tsunamis? We have them quite regularly near here, mostly minor but a couple have wrecked small ships. The real threat is from that big lump of rock likely to fall off the Canaries any time soon which will cause devastation to most of the south a and west coast of the UK and hit the eastern seaboard of the US too.
1
@Inkling777 One 😂our previous cars was an ancient Citroen Visa. Every control was at your fingertips.
1
Does that work for all the banned or uninsured drivers as well as vehicles that are not correctly registered?
1
The big issue with banned drivers is that they already ignore the rules. One way would be to stop them from being able to buy fuel or even make it much more difficult to buy a car due to law changes (maybe along the lines of the firearms laws). Certainly seizing cars and destroying their cars is good.
1
Sounds like he was either being a pretentious knob or might not have been such an ordinary man of the people as he would like to portray when he originally got his account.
1
Should that apply to princes and DJs and Australian entertainers?
1
Apparently in South Africa the power goes off most days at least once!
1
It is quite possible that Brand will get positive benefits from this issue due to the nature of his "fans".
1
@rosemarywalker924 Too many people are happy to hide behind excuses for unacceptable behaviour these days, just look at the JSO protesters and the mob in Oxford street.
1
@gpw203 I am sure that the first two incidents were not exactly as you state (even if they did occur). As for the antique shotgun incident, please describe what type of shotgun it was as a breech loading shotgun could be 150 years old but it would still require a shotgun certificate and thus to possess one without would carry a minimum sentence of 5 years according to the law.
1
@GleeSmee Like squaddies then?
1
@gpw203 Regards the shotgun, you have not said if it was ml or breech - it does make a huge difference legally. If it was a muzzle loader, then he should have got BASC or similar to fight his case (they do so for free). If it was a breech loader (other than a pin fire) it needed a certificate and it was lucky he was not arrested. As for the other two cases, why was the guys house being searched and unless you witnessed the event or have seen footage with sound, I would suggest that he might not have been as innocent as you believe. Same goes for the guy you quote as being hit over the head, as you describe it, it sounds quite illogical so again he might not have been totally innocent.
1
@billybobbins9416 The issue I have with your suggestion is that I have a very poor sense of balance and for that reason rarely use my push bike except on very quiet roads or proper cycle paths. I have been on the back of a few motor bikes but was never happy.
1
@EpeP-qs9xb Lots of things are perfectly legal to do, but common sense tells most people when it is sensible to do them or otherwise!
1
@ferrumignis He is probably one of those cretins himself.
1
I believe more emphasis should be placed on the use of something as a weapon and he consequences of that use than possession of the item. To me if you use something as a weapon that has a realistic likelihood of causing death then you should be charged with murder or attempted murder. I think the Yanks call it assault with a deadly weapon. A length of small diameter pipe COULD be used as a blowpipe to deliver a deadly dart but it could just be what you have in your van.
1
This video is worth a view and covers some scary law changes that are proposed.
1
Of course you could always try to run or drive away and claim the officer was being nasty to you?
1
@ljb9983 Idiot!
1
@AtoZbyLocalBus What if he had become involved with certain activities for which the church has been paying compensation to the survivors of (now they have grown up), of late?
1
@kalinkapavlova9398 It seems vegans views are protected but I have yet to hear of one being charged with hate crimes for some of the vile threats they make to normal people going about their legal activities.
1
If you refuse to cooperate with the police then you are guilty by implication. Best thing to do is to cooperate whether you like it or not. Just think of the guy who tried to run down the offices and got shot.
