usa gummint is the usual sort, staffed by sociopaths and nudged by narcissist plutocrats. that's homer sap for you..
the plebs get on with their lives, however they can. it's getting harder lately, because the rich are maintaining or expanding their take from the national income, while the national income is under pressure from prc and other resistant nations, notably iran and russia.
only an active, large and well-organized popular movement can shake the status quo, none in view. usa peeps are ignorant, cowed, genuinely desperado. whence the endemic crime and occasional mass murder.
i wouldn't give a damn, except the looming climate crisis threatens every living thing on earth, and the orcs who run usa are making it worse.
anyone who is remotely surprised by this bolton brag simply hasn't been paying attention. the classical greeks had a word for it, that's where we get 'idiot.'

when are usans going to admit that they do not live in a democracy. that's a rhetorical question, no question mark. never, appears to be the answer.
so long as you submit to the rule of politicians, this is what you get, and deserve.
democracy is possible. but it needs citizen quality people.
they seldom occur, in an oligarchy.
in an oligarchy, people grow up with a submissive character, never imaging that ordinary people can run a nation. a 'catch-22' situation, oldies would say.
but, begging your masters for kindness never works, and they always fall farther into corruption of character, leaving behind any sense of fairness or duty.
so finally there there will be brutal repression, because no one gives up power easily. this wouldn't matter, but this time over-population makes poor social management fatal.
if you are young, you may wish to organize a revolution. the oldies aren't going to leave a livable space.

@johnriverdavis3497 the principle of democracy is that public activity goes on in public, and is directed by the citizens through referendum and initiative. there is literally no 'government,' only public clerks working openly and without power until directed by the citizens.
currently that is only happening in the confederation of helvetia, among nation states, and not an ideal democracy even there.
the swiss were notably independent during ww2, shooting in both directions, as required. but i suspect the embrace of the eu may have more effect than the nazis, the swiss have had to bend a bit more than their grandfathers did.
the swiss evolved into democracy, and retained politicians. so not a perfect demonstration of democracy. we only have homo sap to work with.
the important point in the beginning of any discussion of political systems, is that electing politicians to rule you is not democracy, not even close.

no legitimacy? putin is doing on a small scale, what usa does on a grand scale.
but usa does murder for profit, putin is afraid russia will be nibbled to death using salami tactics.
usa/cia took pride in installing a billionaire president in ukraine, since then the rest of ukraine has fallen into poverty. well done, cia, making the world submit to wealth.
i am not surprised usa is 'shocked' at putin's action, but it has nothing to do with affronted morality, you are only surprised that someone would dare to confront the evil empire in arms.
putin has gambled the farm on saying "no mas." to usa. if it goes badly, he'll be dead, one way or another.
but it appears he has won. like north korea, he has put his pistol on the table, and it's a much bigger gun. usa/nato has folded. words will continue to be said, and the nazis of ukraine will go on fighting for awhile, but ukraine has been saved from the dark side, again.

the monarchy is a problem. its mere existence means the management of the nation is done to please the monarch.
but getting rid of the monarch does not bring democracy. the power to rule just moves from monarch to politician, or dictator, or military junta.
getting democracy is much harder, than shooting a king. you have to get a populace to stand up and announce, "we are now citizens, and rule our nation with referendum under the control of initiative."
look around you. do you see a nation capable of being citizens of democracy?
it is too hard for homer sap. the tribe is raised in submission to alphas, from days on the african savanna right up to today. that's not just habit to break, that is genetic inclination.
it's not impossible. the swiss still have some kind of proto-democracy, many usa states would be similar, if independent. but that similar is 100 years old, without further progress, and impotent against the power of the federal nation.
so the hairless ape is going to let the alphas destroy the planet.
fermi wondered why the radio spectrum was not filled with communication from the stars. it's because critters that can make radios destroy themselves with powers beyond their control.
