  10.  @ivanstrydom8417  Ethiopia went to war with both eritrea and Somalia because of colonization if it didnt happen both countries wouldn't have existed and the horn of africa would've united avoiding all the war and poverty plus the whole reason hailesilassie was deposed is because he failed to industrialize Ethiopia this happened because the economy of Ethiopia was utterly crused because of ww2 and unlike Europe Ethiopia wasnt repatriated hey only gave Ethiopia 25million dollars while it lost billions of dollars plus Ethiopia lost the deal with japan ( japan agreed to send thousands of people to help industrialize Ethiopia and make the Ethiopian part of the blue nile a huge cotton producing giant ) all was lost because of italys colonial interests in the horn of africa Ethiopia is a landlocked nation till this day because of the same reason

  12. I think countries like Mexico,egypt and the horn of africa had potential. Ik the horn of Africa isnt a unified country but if they had any sane leaders they would've united ages ago they are their own culturally,genetical and historically distinct fromm the rest of Africa only resembling each other so why not?if the scramble for africa didnt happen Ethiopia under emperor Theodore would've conquered the rest of the horn and industrialized swiftly ,reading about the guy makes me believe they would've gone in the same trajectory as japan but with much more valuable land and resources,japan has no major natural resources to speak of , Ethiopia has very fertile lands so it could've supported a large population with the addition of the longest coast line on the continent placed along babal-mendeb they could've become a second tier superpower or things go south and they become even poorer than now, when it comes to egypt it has much to do with the scramble for africa aswell if they kept their territories that spanned to even central africa they would've not been too dependent on the nile and even if they stayed that way they manage to profit enough from their territories and they could've (still doubt tho) defeated/conquered Ethiopia at some point having control over the entire nile and the entire african side of the red sea would've made them filthy rich cant say much for their subjects outside modern egypt tho
