@honkhonk8009 Ah, but if lazyness is your thing, I'll have you know that metric is an extremely lazy system. Since it's based around the number 10, it makes it very easy for anyone with their ten fingers intact to make calculations on it, if they're too lazy to carry numbers in their head. 😏

@rocknrm99 : "Meant to be eaten"??? According to whom?
3
Molly Holly: Frankly, I think the chinese have bigger and more domestic issues rather than vying for some east asian unity. Like the fact that they are still ruled by an oppressive, unelected, socialist government.
3
Completely agree. If anything, stores should give you discount coupons for purchasing condoms and do what they can to promote safe sex.
3
@陳潔明-w6y : Why should I have any problem with "whitewasing"? It's not my film production. Therefore it's not my choice of who gets cast for what role.
3
@018pod6 : That's not really cultural history but scientific history. The scientific community is more international.
3
@aspireistoinspirebeforewee3519 The mongols affected pretty much all of the known world during the zenith of their civilisation. Even threatening European kingdoms at the time. Hua Mulan did not affect Europe or much of the world. Only in China is she a relevant historical figure.
3
@effygram8159 It most certainly has. Luckily, more and more women are waking up to this fact. Since surveys are showing that less women identify as feminists with each passing year.
3
Well, now I know what Kei looks like in a pink wig! :P

AngKear: I'm not american or chinese either. What you fail to realize is that american citizens are still the primary customers of most american companies. America is where the money is. If you start making more americans unemployed and removing larger portions of their disposable income, then the american companies who think they have profits to gain by outsourcing all the jobs to china, india and mexico will start seeing the opposite: losses in profit because their american consumers are too afflicted with unemployment to keep up the necessary consumer levels to sustain these businesses. It's not like mexicans, chinese or indians are going to "take over" and start shopping at Walmart or dining more often over at KFC. The practice of outsourcing is extremely short sighted.

Nope. Don't need to fight any tears. I have come to terms with the world being what it is. The only thing I can do is try to change it for the better. Sitting and crying about the state of the world solves nothing. Solutions come only from action.

@TamaraZeiKhvibliani My advice: help those close to you first. Start at home. Make it a norm. People should feel bad if they abandon family and friends in their time of need. After you've got that sorted, then you can move outward. Don't do what many people do and just "donate to charities". 90 % of all donations to charities just end up in the pockets of so called "charity workers", because they basically turned charity into their "job".

HIV increases is not uncommon in conservative cultures. Mainly because conservative cultures tend to oppose proper sex education in schools, and also oppose contraceptives. So it's no wonder at all that HIV infection rates increase with such a cultural backdrop.

olivia menin: Foreign companies that the corrupt communist chinese government invited and basically gave them a carte blanche to do as they please as long as they raised China's GDP. If the government actually cared and weren't composed of typical oppressive communist oligarchs, they would've imposed restrictions on private businesses and their release of pollutants.

PhantomGlitch You think "size" determines how effective a military force is. I guess the U.S is completely fucked then, if China ever decides to declare war on the U.S. But most of us who know something about military matters know that is not the case. Also, after the top 3 militaries there's a pretty huge drop-off rate. So saying that Japans military is "7th biggest in the world" doesn't really mean anything.
3
what what: Exactly. U.S warships should stop patrolling the south china sea and start patrolling their own coasts.
3
I guess I have to leave the cobras to the asians, and go for the anaconda diet then.
3
@OwO-up5tf It was the Indian courts that ordered these videos to be censored in India. Not "one youtube channel".
3
@ChurchOfThought So when people do dogfighting you reason the same way? Or do you make an exception for dogs?
3
@frankiegamble92 It is actually related. Wallstreet is not a large enough sample group. But if you look at national levels, you'll clearly see a correlation between high average IQ and high empathy scores, whereas nations with low average IQ also score lower in empathy levels.
3
A great trend in my opinion. Wonderful to see veneration of ones history and heritage, instead of mindless consumerism of modernity.
3
@cherryblack420 : You can get "real" chinese food in america. It was after all imported to the U.S by actual Chinese people who migrated to the U.S for work on the railroad network.
3
@linustw : I'll try anything once. In my country we like to eat fermented herring in the summer. The smell of which makes most people in the world gag and nearly vomit. So century eggs does not scare me. But you're being disingenous when you portray it as if the chinese kitchen is only composed of century eggs. There are a plethora of authentic chinese dishes that are very palatable to pretty much any human in the world, regardless of which country they're from. It's food for humans after all. Not aliens from some distant planet.

30 years old here. Still have to show my ID to get into bars and buying booze at the liquor store. :)

Geography is only really important if you're gonna send troops or nukes to a foreign country. It doesn't really impact people's everyday lives. I can honestly say that I don't know exactly where all municipalities are located in my own country. I know the most southern parts, as well as where the capital is located and some of it's neighbouring municipalities. But the rest are a jumble. But I don't consider it that important because I don't regularly go to these places.

Japanese women are just woke I guess
2
Rina Mimira: That's why japanese women are more attractive than entitled, western bitches.
2
Cristina Príncipe: You can't "educate" harassers and rapists not to harass or rape. It's about as stupid as thinking that you can educate murderers not to kill, or thieves not to steal. The real world will always have it's criminals. Regardless of "education" or legal punishments. That's just the way it is.
2
The Taiwanese deserve freedom of speech and democracy. "Unification" will mean that these things are taken away and Taiwan will be subjected to CCP Tyranny.
2
@FeeDBacKMKII : Don't worry. Only white women would object. Because they're jealous. Asian women tend to be better at taking a compliment and feel happy for it.

I always try to be punctual. But it's hard sometimes when buses and trains are so extremely unreliable. Japan is at the forefront of this. They beg for forgiveness for an error in the time schedule of 20 seconds. In my country, they flat out write on the time tables that buses and trains may arrive around 5 minutes early or 5 minutes later than the listed time in the schedule. And that's considered a "normal" everyday error. Sometimes they're held up for several hours if you're really unlucky. But if that happens, then naturally you call or text the people you're supposed to meet and tell them what happened. Even though the Japanese deem punctuality to be important, I don't think they would consider it reasonable to depart several hours on beforehand just to guarantee that you don't get screwed over by tardy train or bus traffic.

Shynell Vaux: it's not privilige. It's just marketing. The natives realize that english speaking tourists bring a lot of money with them, so the more accessible they make their country by including signs in english, the more money they stand to gain. They're not bothering with english signs out of the kindness of their hearts. :P

I have to say that I'm not sure if China overtaking the US in global trade is a good thing. Please don't misunderstand, I don't want to deny the chinese people increased prosperity. But looking at the chinese regime, with it's totalitarian government as well as the worrying system of "social credit", internet censorship as well as the heavy CCTV monitoring of regular citizens in it'a larger cities might spread and become normalized outside of China if the country becomes a more powerul global economic influence. The U.S isn't perfect and far from ethical in it's international affairs, but the society is still based around a constitution with unalienable freedoms and liberties (like the first amendment), whereas China is an oppressive regime where the regular people have no rights, and the socialist party ruling over them have no responsibilities to it's citizens whatsoever. If China moved away from it's current system of governance to a more liberalist system or governance with democratic elections and a constitution of rights, I would be more optimistic to the development of an improving economy. But looking at China right now, it's like seeing the Third Reich or the Khmer Rouge gaining more economic power and influence in world trade. I want the Chinese people to have better lives, but I don't want the socialist party ruling them gaining more and more power.

Jesus also taught us to kill children who dishonors their mothers and fathers. :)

Having a "rich country" does not mean you have a "rich population". Whenever you hear discussions about economics, always try to find out of they're talking about GDP or GDP per capita. A country can have a high GDP with a piss poor population (since the government or the capital owners run off with all the money). High GDP per capita = good for the population. High GDP but low GDP per capita = good for the wealthy, bad for the population.

@deeroberts8090 : It invariably applies to psychology as well. The brain is a physical organ, and we know for a fact that sexual dimorphism applies ti brains as well. Which in turn affect behaviour.
2
Gage Cabani: Well, satellite surveillance, thermal cameras and attack helicopters on stand-by would've been cheaper than a wall. A wall is however much more friendly to the illegals trying to cross the border, since a wall won't hurt them. Trump could've much more easily use my method. Oh and placing landmines across the border as well. So the mexicans thinking of crossing into the U.S illegally should be grateful that he chose to build a wall instead, despite the costs.
2
Well, at least they don't demand you to perform harakiri or yubitsume for running late. :/
2
VaultBoy: Yep, that would actually be a good form of banter and would probably actually impress the Mexicans.
2
Maria Ramirez: No, i'm perfectly serious. And no, I won't leave. Argue your case, or concede that you have lost the argument.
2
@Priya-bt3oj : But we in the west appreciate slim, female bodies. Fatties are just unattractive.
2
@VoltPercival : No it doesn't. It's the opposite. Tensed up meat flooded with adrenaline from the animals time of death become overly chewy. There's a reason why the cattle used to make Kobe beef is fed beer as well as being given daily massages. The perfect meat is from a relaxed animal with as few muscle tensions as possible and the perfect fat to muscle distribution. Every chef in the world knows this.

"China has a really big influence on our way of life" he says, while every other word out of his mouth is in english, mixed with the native language. Yeah, China seems to have a HUGE influence on the Fillipines...
2
Mucha Ho: Language is one of the most influential factors in human existence. It governs the way people think to a large degree. I don't see every other word out of their mouths being Chinese...
2
SANHA'S ULTIMATE FANBOY: Words that most young Filipinos probably don't even know. Because they barely know their own native language, yet all of them speak english (and not chinese). That doesn't tell you anything?

To claim that the character of Apu has been under criticism "for years" is a bit of an exaggeration. He's only come under criticism very recently. Not a single indian american cared for most of The Simpsons run, because the practice of being offendee by everyone and everything is a new phenomenon. These people don't care about Apu as a character, their problem is that they are racists who can't stand that a "white man" is doing his voice.
2
WithBrittany: Beautiful culture yes, but hopefully there's room for change in some small parts of it. Change so that parents don't feel that they have to give up their children for adoption for such minor reasons. Do you agree?

I can't remember noticing chinese tourists behaving badly. The only east asian tourists that come across as a bit peculiar are japanese tourists. They often have several cameras with extremely long objective lenses hanging from their necks, and they also take the practice of selfies to a whole new level. It's not really annoying or anything, just peculiar. :) A friend of mine however really can't stand japanese tourists. But it was mostly due to the fact that she worked in a popular tourist hotspot (it was a costume-wearing type of job) and she thought japanese tourists were both wierd and a bit intrustive.
2
MH Khoo: Unless you are free to express what you think in spoken, written or recorded words, then you are not free. You are a slave.

Well personally I'd say that it's an unfair comparison since the "fusion rolls" aren't really sushi. That's not to say that they taste bad. I've had california rolls that were delicious. But I wouldn't call it sushi. There's a somewhat different approach to flavors in Japan and the West. Many dishes in the Japanese cuisine seem to pursue subtlety and put much more emhpasis on texture. Sushi in my opinion does not taste "much", but it comes across as fresh (like the seafood version of crispy fresh vegetables or fresh fruit) and the texture is very special. Western cuisine put much more emphasis on flavours and smells. Food is supposed to have ALOT of taste in the west. Preferably several different kinds of tastes at once, because complex tastes and smells is what westerners find exciting in food. But this philosophy of cooking does not really apply to real sushi.
