  2. Yeah Trump has made a number of critical errors it all started from choosing JD Vance instead of Byron Donalds or Tim Scott, an African American would really weaken Kamala's base dramatically. The Republicans made a mistake to hold their Convention first, the think that Trump being so loud his clips in the media would over power Democrat convention but instead it allowed the Democrats to replace Biden and leave the GOP with the wrong VP pick.

  5.  @yipu4079  The US debt risk is not on the table, it's not in question. People buy up bonds when they see rates coming down in the near and long term future, it is the last chance to lock in long term bonds from the safest paper on Earth just before we head in to a new cycle of rate cuts with much lower bond returns to come. The FED long term is 2.5% which is a serious serious cut from what it is now. 4% vs 2% is 50% drop in your 30 years of locked in returns is not a minor matter here, this is huge.

  11. Actually how do you avoid recessions? You pump tons and tons of oil out of the ground. Have a look at US oil production VS oil price VS recessions Fracking kicked off what like 2013? 2014? no recessions since then except for COVID.

  13. Deflation is a trap which can tear apart an economy this is named "deflationary spiral". Why is that? Well imagine if every day you look at buying a car yet the price keeps falling, 25,000 24500 24000 23500 you get the picture? Prices keep falling day after day year after year so people just stop buying anything and as people stop burying, companies shrink down and collapse, banks fail,, income and salaries shrink drastically and so you avoid buying even more so. The last time the USA had a deflationary spiral was during the Great Depression. Due to this risk most central banks have a set inflation level of 2% to maintain distance above deflation and also to erase old money and get people to go out and work but that's another story.

What a freaking mess this will become. Tariffs will occur big time which will cause a recession and mass people not working and so protests will be huge, it will make the 60s look like cheesecake.   22.  @Eric-ff2ii  The data from today is backwards that is from the last 3 months that is not looking forward which that data is UGLYYYYY Keep in mind Trump is an INFLATOR he did that in 2018 when the 30 year mortgage rate hit 5% that was Trumps handy work in November 2018. Now we are heading for round 2 of that game. This is just Trumps way of doing things, trigger inflation than panic. Why? Because he did that in the private sector for 50 years so he is kind of stuck on that. He is almost 80 years old Trump so he cannot change his ways at this age so we are stuck with inflation coming. SMart people preapre for that like the spike in imports.

Yes we had an inflation run with the baby boomers in the 1970s-1980s and oil crisis and unions and all that jazz but it's not like that is normal either.

The US Dollar is backed by a country of over 300 million people who go to work every day and make stuff in factories or spend money and no matter the world situation those people still go out there and do things, COVID, hurricane it does not matter, people need things, they need food, they need shelter, they need a billion things so no matter what happens there is a real foundation for any currency FIAT or Gold standard or whatever, a nation and it's people are the value of a currency. However, Crypto has what foundation of what? That people trust new money will roll in the door tomorrow? It is like a team based game of faith, oh oh, here, fall back, we'll catch you bro, don't worry, we'll catch you.

  27.  @QuesoGr7  Look up on google "US Employment Cost Index YoY" The current rate is 4.5% so on average salary is up 4.5% from 1 year ago while inflation is up 3.2% form 1 year ago so yeah people spend more but also get paid even more. Of course not everyone is seeing that increase and also not everyone is seeing higher prices. Here in Seattle I think wage is pretty flat as Tech has been suffering so not much increase in income but food prices seem to have fallen nicely I shop at Fred Meyer stores and I for sure notice a fall in prices. Also Trader Joes is a cheaper it seems but it is a small store.

Well no one wants to see deflation although that can occur in a rate cycle there was some deflation in 2010 I think when things were going nuts back then and again during COVID in 2020 but I have a hard time seeing the FED let that happen as they are in control in this cycle although who knows.

The President has very limited control over the economy, it is just one guy in a white house, he can't force American to go out and buy stuff, or take on debts, or take risks in life, that's not something any President can control. I don't care who the president is it means nothing, people always force politics in to everything but it's just not reality. People blamed trump for a bad economy in 2020 and now they blame Biden in 2024 but it's meaningless, they have no real control over the economy. They can try and boost sentiment, making people feel confident to take on risks but that's about it. They printed 5 trillion Dollar for COVID both Trump and Biden but that;s not the only reason we have inflation today, it's oil prices which is set by OPEC which the USA is not even a member of....

  39. Listen, the inflation rate for the last 10 years was around 1% so they had no option. If this were to fall in to deflation you risk entering a trap like Japan where people stop buying because prices keep falling. The real problem was cheap goods from China and Free trade which kept inflation too low. This was a Government policy by keeping free trade with China going for too long, so not a FED error. It's easier to deal with inflation then deflation which is why the target inflation rate is 2% and not -2% and also it's a tool to erase old wealth to make people have to go out and work. In the USA it's not that hard to work just a few years, save up cash, buy a cheap house in a cheap corner and just retire early. a very resourceful person can play the system so inflation helps prevent that a little by making people need more people as time moves on. It's the same in every country in the world so we are not unique here, only Japan is playing on another level but that is just one country out of 200+

  40. I think the FED has to cut 0.5% again... The next few months might see inflation not fall much further but Q1 2024 had HOT inflation and if Q1 2025 is much lower that's going to bring inflation well below 2% so the FED might fall behind pretty fast. Cutting from 5% to 4% is not easy with only 2 meetings left before Q1 starts so they might actually still fall behind if they switch to 0.25%

  42. ​ @SouthWestCarpHunter  You have a point but 2 things. #1 he manages huge sums of money and that can distort a stock which can impact it badly if people that own it run to cash out so it totally distorts the stock. #2 hHe seems to not targets the peak of a stock he plays the long term move. So it seems like he targets a stock that will rise over many many years to come and not just some quick bull peak for a few months and then a decline but rather long term growth of the company over many years. Just look how AI has wild swings in values but who knows....

  45.  @peterdangelo5882  Well we have been in the same place for a while, nothing new here, we first hit 3% for 1 year inflation in July 2023, then went back up to 3.7% in September/October 2023, then down to 3.2% in November, 3.1% in December, back up to 3.4% in January then 3.1% in February and 3.5% in March.. It's such a tiny move for 1 year inflation data, keep in mind this number is for a 1 year going backwards. The FED goal of a perfectly healthy economy is 2.4% we are at 3.5% for 1 year of inflation, we shall see how this all plays out.

  46. ​ @peterdangelo5882  Well that measure is not great becasue it does not account for our new economic order which has us buying goods from a globalized world which means every time an Americans buys goods made in other countries.... the money they spent is leaving the country so we are always losing inflation out the window. Super core is ignorant of that new reality. However, as we pull away from China, make things in Mexico instead, that will raise inflation here in the long term as more money will come back in to the economy and that can be a problem. Higher rates long term which might be a good thing to keep asset/house prices in check.

This is why we should switch to Electric cars, I am not a tree hugger at all but the faster we stop with the oil dependency the better. I am all for EVs, just to break from the oil price mafia.

  49. Chinese might own the house without a loan but that will not prevent a crash in the market. If I buy with cash a house and then the value falls and I sell it for a loss its still a crash loan or no loan. In fact having a loan might prevent a crash as there is long term penalty and punishment for failing to pay a loan.

The housing and food prices and oil are all 100% internal within the USA so these are easy to fix you don't need 10% you don't even need 5%. Look inflation went from 9% to 5% and soon we will be in the 3% just look at the TruFlation data it is at like 3.7% right now so we are already getting near the target area.
