Great detail in your explanations. I love how the simple graphics make a complex idea easy to digest. Keep up the wonderful videos please. :D

We're already seeing the better air quality and quieter roads. Eventually we'll be back to clogged, noisy, smelly roadways and cities and people are going to remember this and think, "Hey, if cars are electric it can be like that again."

A warning for anyone using cast iron on an induction cooktop. Because it heats and cools quickly it can warp the cast iron. Also, if you have older cast iron (mine is 80+ years) the ferromagnetic material may very greatly between pans the pans can heat up very quickly to over 500 degrees. I’m not knocking induction. The bit of research I did about using cast iron induction did not bring up these issues with older cast iron pans so i want other people to be more aware before they start warping their great-grandmother’s cast iron.

Tesla: we don’t need no stinking turbo Porsche: they won’t know the difference

I visited Sagrada Familia about 4 years ago and was fascinating. This architecture is mind boggling. You must take an elevator to the top of a spire and walk down the stairs.

By far, the best 7 seat review. Exactly what people need to know. Congrats and thank for sharing! By the way, not as bad as I tought, perfect for short trips with whole family and grandparents in just one car.

Nice video, thanks! As a Model YLR owner, I don't see any downside for you moving from the 3 to the Y. I have several friends who are making that move even though they love their M3s and all of them feel they made the right decision. Good luck!

Chewie's dying of laughter with your Star Trek hand gesture. 🖖 My wife and I always knew induction is better. Nice to see it actually shown! Live long and prosper! :goodvibes:

Heatpump. Most underappreciated invention ever.

They remind me of the simple hand windmills we got as kids, a short garden cane with a foil windmill on the top. uncannily similar design but the propeller version is elongated. 🤓🤓🤓

Pretty awesome to see your coverage of a company that I love! Nouveau Monde Graphite is doing something truly unique.
27
Thank you, that was well researched, and I deeply appreciate the time invested , and knowledge shared!

Loving the evolution of your videos since I've started watching and man I can't get enough! Keep it up! Please YouTube algorithm if you're listening blow this channel up!!

That finish was great. Trying to efficiently use the remaining energy. Creating symbiotic engines.

"and just remember, the future is going to be awesome." Great outro piece

We have a couple round-a-bouts where I live. The problem is that most (stupid) drivers come to a complete stop at the Yield sign even when no others cars are in the round-a-bout and it backs up traffic behind them.

The elephant in the room isn't the cost of the panel or the efficiency; it's the $850 of installation cost per panel. Breaking that down, being generous, it's probably $150 for mounting hardware and inverters and the rest is what the contractor is charging for labor, so $700 per panel for labor. Over 30 panels, that's $21000. There is clearly room for that number to be lower. I mean you watched them install it, how many man-days was used for the work? Again being generous, maybe 4 man-days? It's literally just someone climbing onto a roof a couple dozen times with a load and screwing it down; it's less labor than installing an actual roof. How much does someone need to charge for 4 man-days of labor and run a profitable business? Maybe $5k? Installers are treating early adopters as a gold mine; they are charging what the market will bear factoring in govt incentives and local electricity rates to get a decent ROI. If they charged a fair price of $5k, bringing the total cost of a 12000W system to $14k and a breakeven ROI of less than 2 years, everyone would sign up. The problem with solar isn't for lack of breakthroughs over existing panels. The problem is the market and competitive landscape of installers to charge a fair price for an honest day's work.

At 11:30 the video takes an interesting turn to see past all the glamour and beauty. Definitely worth a watch! Things get real!!!

Such a fantastic idea! Thanks for picking it up and sharing this with us. From all renewable tech channels you always pick the best technologies and ideas 👏🏽👏🏽

I can,t believe that you think this will be low volume. I'm over 70 years and this thing looks beautiful to me. Most of you younger people seem to be too stuck in your ways. The only constant is change. Embrace it or it will run you over. This will be my first truck. I'm heading for the reservation site. (Actually now I pre ordered the 2wd version.)
26
Really enjoy your smooth, low octane coverage of technology with your calm voice and deep insights.

Model S officially 402 miles range with Plaid Plus set to deliver around 520 miles in 2022! Great video about Aluminum Air.

Getting your editors to do plumbing... That's quality content!

Great video with enough detail to be interesting but not confusing. Well presented and beautifully made... thank you :)

Considering Tesla cars are like Computers and Operating Systems - my belief is only good things happen when you wait for 2.0 or 3.0 - in this case the $35k M3. By the time it makes sense for Elon to make the entry level 3, most mfg. bugs will have been identified, the software will be mature and the machine learning will be a lot smarter as the intelligence grows in a logarithmic manner. Of course that price point will be a little crowded by the time the $35k 3 comes what with Kia, Hyundai, Nissan and others killing it with their new SUVs and crossover plug-ins. This will be fun to see how it goes !!!! Ultimately the consumer should win! 🚗

This is uplifting and informative. I didn't know the UN took action and slowly but surely we're on the road to some recovery. Thanks Ricky, great way to start the weekend 🎉
25
Wow, how do you not have 10 times the amount of subs you currently have. Super underrated!
25
Remy has to be the happiest little kid I have ever seen! So great! And you beat Ben Sullins to be the first to post a video with the Model Y 3rd row seating too! I think we may have a YouTuber war on our hands! Haha!

Excellent video. There's nothing I can add that hasn't already been said! And on top of that, PVs have the added advantage of almost zero maintenance, and there are no failure points short of the transmission line back to the utility itself that can take down an entire solar PV plant. Everything is so modular that there is literally no need to ever shut a PV plant completely down, even for major maintenance. -Matt

I always thought metals were colder just because. It never occurred to me that they are the same as room temp, just better at absorbing heat from the skin. Thanks, I might do an animation of this too in my future uploads

400 gallons A DAY!!!! Holy crap! What a waste! Well done Ricky!

You couldn't be more right on the Tesla insurance thing, and where they could take it. It's a huge opportunity for them if they choose to take it, and it seems like they made the choice to start down that path with doing the initial setup in CA.

Most places will require a permit for the connection of the Ecoflow Smart Panel which is a transfer switch, to the main panel. While the Ecoflow Smart switch takes care of making sure you are not back feeding the grid. The potential still exists so that's why a permit may be required. Also, while transfer switches or in this case a (Smart Panel) are fairly easy to install it still should be done by or at least checked by professional before you test it out of connect to it. The Ecoflow and extra batteries are a little pricier up front than a standby home generator. The Ecoflow will cost a small fraction of what a gas or propane powered generator will cost in a grid down situation. Best of all the potential to power all or part of your home using the sun becomes an option that allows it to pay for itself over time.

Every time the power goes off and it’s cold AF it’s been a blessing to have another source of heat. With a gas stove we can still heat our home.
25
I have had my ground source geothermal for 5 years and coupled with my solar panels have been net zero home for energy. I don’t pay any type of gas bill and my Solar array has eliminated my power bill. There have been many comments about not being worth it and being complicated. It has been around for a long time, it is simple and after tax incentives not IHC more than typical natural gas/ propane for install. It makes your home heating and AC needs all electric and you can easily counter those energy needs with solar. I have a whole home battery back up system to go along with it making it possible to run in grid down scenario. Good stuff.

Albeit a Model 3 owner, I'm rooting for Lucid's success. All the ingredients are there and they have the right person at the helm who also came from Tesla.
24
For a few years it may be easy to find my cybertruck in the Costco parking lot. I’m looking forward to that! Thank you Tesla and Elon!
24
Great video. Same experience for me with my Model 3 Long Range. More that 110'000km in 3 years, in Switzerland (35degC in summer - 10 degC in winter), driving daily. I had no repair to do at all, just changed tires and wind shield fluid. Running costs cannot be lower (30% of my previous car, a Ford Fiesta...) and the car has not aged at all. Amazing.
24
YouTube recommended this video to me. Sometimes, YouTube nails it!! :-)
24
12:00 been watching this channel didn't know you're an engineer amazing, what a time to live. YouTubers are now legit engineers
24
All these EV options are really helping the industry move forward with innovation. We all win from this.
24
Very helpful and informative, thank you! 🙏

I've seen those in Spain as well (i think it was Spain). Would love to hear about other places in the world using the same technology and how it differs from the US and chinese version(s). Thanks for the video!
24
Imagine living in a future world where the only power source we need is the sun. There will literarily be no need for wars and conflicts.
24
Hey Ricky thanks for this interesting video! Of course going deep into this subject would take more than 15 minutes but this is a good overview of the market and technologies, so thank you. Btw you definitely have to check Synhelion, a Swiss company that makes jet fuel out of solar energy (with mirrors, not PV panels). Cheers from Switzerland!
24
Excellent review video! I placed my $100 reservation the night of the official launch. Living in CA I’m so ready for this truck and to say goodbye to $4.00+ a gallon gas. I get to leave the house every morning with essentially a full tank :-)
24
As a Dune fan, that was fun. Thanks Ricky!

Hi Ricky, just traded in my 2019 USA built M3 SR for a 2022 China built one. The 50-60kwh upgrade is great and the LFP battery means i don't have to worry about overcharging. The heat pump (which i think is on US models now) is fine no difference in heating here in mid UK apart from the power consumption which was the point of it The build quality is far better than the USA model from 3 years ago but i think the USA models have improved too The paint is far better too, after taking delivery of mine in 2019 i took it straight to be coated and get the paint sorted won't bother this time Just some insights for UK buyers looking into getting a M3

As a Cal ME grad who worked at the Berkeley composites lab, I too can’t understand who in their right mind would use carbon fiber in this use case. The engineers who made it belong in jail.
24
Congratulations on the sponsorship. Thanks again for another edifying and insightful exposition.
