  2. I don’t understand Farzad’s last point about why Cybercab should have no windows, presumably because no one needs it for driving. But we have windows on every type of transportation where the passengers don’t do any driving: trains, planes, buses. People in cabs will want to be able to see where they’re going, or take in the scenery if they’re new in town. Nobody wants to travel in a sealed coffin. It doesn’t make any sense, so perhaps I completely misunderstood his point.

  7. I’ve always been a Chevy guy. The 1994 blazer was my first car, reserved the EV and planned to get the RS awd model. I got cold feet on it with the slower charge rate and their decision to change the charge port in two years so I cancelled my reservation. With GM now up raising the price by 8 grand before dealer up charges , I don’t regret my cancellation.

  9. I bought FSD primarily for road trips, because I’m unwilling to give up the joy of driving “Scoot” in town. That said, I’ve experimented with the various versions, just for kicks. V12.3.1 is different, and is fun to “supervise.” That has changed my purpose from curiosity about its behavior, to “shareholder responsibility” for providing data to Tesla. That was a surprise.

  11. FACTS FROM A GM EMPLOYEE A friend at the Bowling Green plant told me it's for those management feel will not be able to transition to an EV mindset. GMs engineers seem to be locked into designing ICE platforms with EV drive trains

As a long-term (40+) yrs of sci-fi and other reading, I think much of the reason why analysts and much of the public automatically dismiss the robot and AI angle is how thinking long-term ahead aka sci-fi has been ridiculed for many decades. Many of the things we take for granted today (smart phones, internet etc.) were foreseen in sci-fi and ridiculed for decades. Same with robots. Asimov wrote about the implications in the 1950s and his thoughts are becoming relevant now. I often think Elon read a lot of sci-fi in his formative years, but without the "it will never happen in our lifetime" bias. I really love him for making it real 🙂

  15. The future of hybrids can be seen in Norway: In August their share of ALL sold cars was a measly 3% , of BEV 94%... 5 years ago it was still 35% against BEV 30%. On the growth curve, China and western countries are about 5-10 years behind Norway. Lately, Sweden (without the huge EV-incentives of Norway) has caught up - Data from September 2024 show 29% Hybrids and 45% BEV - so they are just 3-4 years behind Norway. It is happening fast and accelerating, because the Norway disruption did not bring down the ICE-giants, but if all major markets change, most of the ICE-giants will go down.

  19. In a nutshell, entrenched, previously successful companies who have not been forced to make signficant changes in decades HATE change. ALL of them had access to the same incentives Tesla did over the last 2 decades, but they mostly ignored the incentives and just kept doing the fossil-fuel-shuffle, waiting for their gold watches and retirements. Now, they have no choice but to change, and they suck at moving quickly, do not have the engineering talent, and basically, will fail to various degrees, leading to bankruptcies/bailouts. The unions also didn't do squat for 2 decades to prepare for the EV transition. Now they are whining about it. OK, that was several nutshells...

  20. Totally agree and it baffles me because not a single one of the companies I’ve worked with in the past even gives a fraction of the benefits I’ve seen at Tesla in my 8 months. From health benefits, starting a family, stock benefits, the list goes on of the amount of satisfaction I take in working for this place thus far. I’ve worked in education, health care, and mental health fields up until this point and none have taken care of me like Tesla has so far. If you need help with any content, fell free to reach out. I know there’s only so much I’m allow to say but I’d help in any way I can.

  26. Great video, loving your content! Cool to see how nutty the number get even w/ all those conservatives estimates regarding the AI part of the business. I think it's a useful excercise but any price target is pretty much guranteed to be wrong, if Tesla succeeds on the AI front, they will significantly overshoot your target which sounds insane. Like the 20% fleet adoption for example makes no sense because of the overwhelming financial incentive for people to take part in autonomous rideshare if/when it works. Still really like your thought process and the way you presented all the numbers, I think there's definitely merit in being conservative. Also cool that you're projecting out past 2030 unlike a lot of other people. My same thought was that growth isn't just going to magically stop after 2030 and Tesla is likely to overshoot Elon's "at least 20M cars/yr aspiration", I think Tesla will likely have significant yearly revenue growth and business expansion for at least another 2 decades.

  30. Excellent review. I am a retired Robotics Engineer who worked on Unmanned Systems for over 20 years. Its actually not that hard to build a self driving car that can do 95% of what it needs to do. All of the problem is in the last 5% and the majority of that is in the last 1%. Back in 1991 I did not really believe we would ever get there. Back when a 6cm GPS cost $60,000 and an accurate Ring Laser Gyro based INU cost $90,000 and a $12,000 computer could process 2 frames of video every 2 seconds (JPL stereo vision @$50,000). When the DARPA Grand Challenge rolled around in 2003 that kind of accelerated the development and inspired more people to get involved but it wasn't until 2019 that I really started to believe it could happen. That was Tesla's Autonomy Day. Building their own purpose built boards and other cool stuff I thought was great but when I saw that they were using their fleet to train a Neural Network I thought Holly Shit they are actually going to be able to solve for all the special cases! Right after that I went out and bought 100 shares (now 1500) of Tesla stock. After last nights presentation, I think I better up that a bit...

  38. I recall seeing someone a few years ago explaining how they foresaw the process of the EV transition. We maybe currently in the faze where it is expected that people will hold onto their ICE cars a bit longer longer to both save for the currently more expensive EV's and to wait for the technology and products to mature. This is probably adding to the drop in overall sales

  41. A scaled-down cybertruck, manufactured in Africa, would be a perfect vehicle for that continent; rugged and cheap, in an area where PV tech can provide plentiful energy, it would bring EV to the masses, enabling more rapid economic growth generally.

The reason ford is doing the separation is so when the e buisness can stand on its own they will tie all the debt and liabilities to the gas car buisness and separate them into two separate entities. The gas car portion will go bankrupt and take all the debts with it and the ford e will go forward with zero starting debt and a profitable buisness model, I think that is their intent at least
