Fascinating! If I'm ever in Philadelphia, I'll have to pay it a visit!

Dallas, Minneapolis, and Philadelphia have their share of underground (or bridgeway) pedestrian connectors as well.

I lived in Chicago during that brutal winter of 94-95. Deep sub-zero temperatures so cold that it made most of Lake Michigan freeze over. I needed to walk from the Loop, just west of the Art Institute to Navy Pier that day for work and I happened upon this interesting network of underground walkways. It didn’t take me all the way to Navy Pier but it kept me a lot warmer than I would have otherwise. On a typical warm spring or summer day I never would have thought of checking it out. But that day I really needed to minimize exposure to that windy frigid cold! It’s definitely one of those little known gems of Chicago. Thanks for posting this!

Awesome yet sad video

5
Interesting as always.

Hope you're feeling better soon!

I want to thank everyone who posted Sopranos jokes. You made my day.

Your channel is such a rich resource of NYC history. As a subscriber I really enjoy them. Hope you do a piece on Robert Moses too, a controversial figure but still a great planner of his time.

@johnkeefe20 As a lifetime Lehigh Valley resident, I had to correct him! Lol.

My GF's grandparents were among the first to drive over the bridge when it opened in the '60s. They had just moved from Brooklyn to Central Jersey and it made it much easier to visit family still in the city. It's also my favorite part of the annual 5 Boro Bike Tour, but my least favorite when driving over (the toll is outrageous).
5
That was awesome, do more castles and their history.

Ryan Socash - always a Win! Im a huge Enthusiast when it comes to NYC, hope I'll make it (to) there some Day. But that RCA-Buildung was News for me - Stunner! Regards from out of Dschermany, Frank

Anchoring cables.

I grew up 10 minutes from Sandy Hook! Many great memories in that area, and I took my fiancé on a tour of the fort the last time I was home 😄 thanks for the nostalgia!
5
I would love to stay out there!

Great video.

Thank you!!!

I spent many vacations with my parents, down there. Dean Martin, a friend of my Dad's, told us about The North Shore. Mom and Dad became members of the Yacht Club!

My 99 year old gma (we are a Chicago family) spoke of such mythical tunnels, myths for the most part in her youth as well. But thanks for this video, I love this city and am always happy to know more. PBS gets something’s but not all the wild and crazy things this city has done!
5
The first concert I ever went to was at the Civic Arena, 1996 Smashing Pumpkins

I'm born and raised in Chicagp and never knew this building changed its name and its 2024. It will always be The John Hancock Building as the Sears Tower will always be the Sears Tower.

Thanks for another good story man❗❗👍☮️✌️👌

Many of the grain elevators still exist in Buffalo. I know, I live there.
5
A video on "Euclid Beach Park" and/or "Geauga Lake", both just east of Cleveland would make good subjects to continue the theme of old & much loved parks that are no longer with us.
5
Excellent! As a pre teen I had the privilege to ride both Broadway Limited and 20 th Century Limited! Now as an old guy wish they were back! Outstanding history ! Thanks!

Thank you for making such a fascinating channel, full of stories about places and things I've never heard about.

What a great story! Thank you for sharing this with us.

I see you now have Stevie Wonder narrating this video?

Been to Cook County a few times, worst times of my life. Dirty, rodent infested, with disrespectful, power tripping guards. You left out division 5, although closed, it is still occasionally used for overflow, and intake and release goes through there.

Been there once during my Air Force days, 1970s. I "was chosen to drive a deuce and half though the forest and along the coast line from Travis AFB up to Crescent City, OR. I was able to drive through the tree. We went to many of the mountain tops to calibrate radar equipment for the Over the Horizon detection system. A nice 30 day trip.

This was a gem. Stanhope is what I search for

I never heard this before and I'm totally amazed that it did happen. I love trains but right now I'm speechless.

Interesting, I never knew the history of Scripps and I've been to La Jolla and that particular bridge before.

Didn't expect to see a history video about the university just down the road today.
4
About time you were able to making a video about the Hell Gate bridge. Great job!
