Very interesting. I was born and raised in Brooklyn and always wondered why, now I know

Great job on the video. I actually live about 30 minutes from what we all called the castle. I remember back in the late 80βs and 90 riding by it on the train on the way to Grand Central Station, making sure never missed my quick view. In the early 2000βs I owned a jet ski docked never the island and was able to explore it. There was much to see but it was still a cool experience to have.

I live just south of the lake in Tooele, and didnβt even know about the Lucin cutoff! Great info and video! Thanks for making it!

When I was younger I remember driving through the State Street corridor that included Robert Taylor Homes and a few other high-rise housing projects with my dad once. Even as a kid I remember grim vibes coming from them.

What a great, 'warming' π₯ story in history! Thank you so much for sharing it with us!! As a side note, I got a very rare side glimpse of Ryan during his presentation!! How cool is that!! π

A very interesting story. This elevator troubled history explains well why the American political system doesn't work very well when it comes to providing public transportation services to the people. In Europe, Asia and South America, public lifts have been built since the 19th century, and many are still in operation, without any problems and with people's approval. Meanwhile in the USA even the building and the maintaining of valuable and necessary means of trasport causes protests and political conflicts...

π’ The route from L.A. to Big Sur is scary with deep cliffs and roadway failures. It is like a life gamble to commence such a trip.

Great video, thank you for sharing

Excellent Video. Makes me wish to visit some of the classical US railroad towns. Thx

5:45 NYC loved using "V" instead of "U" just for the looks back in the early 1900's. SVBWAY, PVBLIC LIBRARY, etc. I like it.

Very interesting, thanks

As a resident of the city, Iβm hope for a Taco Bell/KFC restaurant.

The Pennsey was one of my favorite railroad lines. Right behind the I.C.R.R. Have a blessed day, everyone.

Cool video. I worked on the renovation for 6 years. Amazing how they saved all of the original features that made it a cool old ballpark. One thing ive never really found info on. The marquee has a green logo on the back. Not sure how old that is. But they turned the sign around and painted the red sign everyone knows. Ive been in every inch of the place except the scoreboard. One cool story. The away team lockerroom bathroom always stunk. The rerouted the plumbing vent into the air ducts. Funny all the things in baseball to get into the other teams head.

This piece was very fascinating Ryan! Thank you for bringing us this interesting story πππΌ

There was a line in Chicago on the northwest side of the city that was revitalized from an abandoned right of way to a park/greenway. The former Milwaukee Road's Bloomingdale line. You may wish to check it out Ryan.

Is there drama involving him? Would take a lot for me to dislike him, hope everything's cool.

I am so pumped for this video! I have several items from the 1893 World's Fair! I Love it!!!! Thank you for this!
4
Back to the classics, nice!

I love these stations being time capsules. Imagine peaking through a crevice in a door to one of these abandoned hallways. City Hall Station Tour would be definitely on my bucketlist when going to New York one day as well as trying to staying in metro 6 to go around the loop.
4
There's a rail and bits of infrastructure that can be found along the East side of Willow Lake where the IND World's Fair Right of Way once ran. I took a hike in the area last year discovering these artifacts.
4
Incredible my brother keep up the great work very informative truly truly great thank you
4
I love the videos Ryan, keep up the great work!
4
great vid, neoclassical motifs dominated the fair but Louis Sullivan's Transportation building, known as the Golden Door, broke rank at least at moments. By far the most deviant of the main attraction buildings.
4
I used to work security for the NUWC and occasionally got asked to overnight on the island to keep an eye on the test torpedo. First time I ever saw an incinerator toilet.
4
