  8. Grew up in Chicago, had family in Milwaukee, rode the Electroliners many times, and although they were fast and modern, the ride was very bouncy. I suppose the cars were too light for those speeds -- it was a joke in our family, how you'd be thrown around on the Electroliner. -- charlie, sacramento CA. Keep up the good work!

  9. I lived in central Florida in the '70s as a teenager. I remember sinkholes making the local news from time to time. A house partially falling in to one, usually.

  17. A great history of times past. Every generation leaves marks of what they considered to be the ultimate expression of progress. Singer building, an inefficient aristocratic coal burning maze of paper offices and masonry halls was the best they could achieve, but has no place in our time other than as a showpiece. It is only hopeful to be able to look back, looking down, and in equal measure disheartening whenever looking back forces us to look up instead. Hopefully the skylines of America's great cities will, in 100 years, be as unrecognizable to a 21st century inhabitant as today's are to one from the early 20th. Buildings are places for the living, not for the dead.

  26. Love your video! How in God’s name did those people back in those days who drive only horse and buggies possibly build these amazing buildings? Then go back home to there a little wood build homes with out-houses and no electricity? I'm not believing these buildings were built during that time? AND why were they demolished at the end of the fair? IF they were built during this time period. Makes no sense.

When I lived in Atlanta we went to the Underground all the time and shopped, Especially at the Foot Locker in the Underground….Negative Thinking & Speaking People have Negative Vibes & You get The Same Energy what You Emit…Rich In Culture, History & traffic 😅but outside the traffic, That City Was Amazing to Me in my 20’s and 30’s….Miss The Atlanta Peach Drop, too…!!!

  44. I got a call from my Mom's cousin in Nashville about the bridge. My youngest sister passed over it about 10 min before it went down. She didnt hear about it until later on Social Media.

  45. I hate when beautiful old buildings are demolished and replaced with plain, ugly “modern” buildings. I also hate that architectural beauty seems to be relegated to old buildings and that conformity to plainness and ugliness seems to dominate post World War II buildings. The powers that be need to start designing and building beautiful buildings again. The is no reason that all newer buildings have to be plain, ugly glass, metal, and concrete eyesores. The demolition of this beautiful old train station in Chicago reminds me of how just relatively recently Alton, IL tore down their perfectly fine and functional historic train station and replaced it with a “modern” one designed in the obligatory plain, ugly style that all newer buildings seem to conform to.
