ย @GWNorth-db8vnย Well, I decided to do dog into this a bit, and it seems that some cruise missiles are able to be retasked after launch, and, even be remotely controlled.
Google using as easy to search as it was decades ago, so finding what I want is harder, as it wants to hold my hand and return what if THINKS I want. (eg, I searched "cruise missile" and it returns results about Patriot air defense... ๐)
That being said: Here's one example...
The US AGM-84 SLAM-ER [Wiki]
"The SLAM-ER can be remotely controlled while in flight, and it can be redirected to another target after launch if the original target has already been destroyed, or is no longer considered to be dangerous."
And the Shahed-136... [Forbes, via Defense Express]
Apparently it's also capable of being reprogrammed in-flight; however, cannot be remotely controlled. But it is very much a pre-programmed flight path and therefore can only target static targets. ("pre-programmed" in that it cannot make dynamic changes to its own flight path; not that programming is only possible prior-to the launch)
(but yes, I'm familiar with drones previously being in reference to remote targeting drones, which are usually just inexpensive purpose made aircraft, but then eventually also included re-purposed jets; the F-4 Phantom II were turned into targeting drones, for example)

"and it is obviously not good for peace"
No, Putin is not good for peace...
This, I think, is a rare occasion where sending a superior force in, WOULD BE good for peace! As doing so would put an end to Russia's tirade, since it seems like the majority of Russian soldiers (based on intercepted phonecalls) are motivated because of their hatred of Ukrainians, but already feel overwhelmed...
So, if NATO โ or the UN, but we know they won't do shit โ were to enter the fray, I'm quite convinced that it would be enough to hastily defeat and push out Russian troops from Ukraine and Crimea in about a month's time. Even if it takes 2, it's far and away quicker than this war would be resolved if left to only Ukraine fighting.
Russia has_ALREADY_ made this a war that's effecting the whole world, so it's a bit silly to keep on like we are. Russia isn't impacting the grain export to hurt Ukraine, because we're still going to send the needed supplies (since Ukraine isn't paying for it 'on delivery'), and reparations will make Ukraine whole after this is all said and done.
I dunno... My two cents...

Unfortunately, they still feel like they're winning, because on paper (maps only) it could be argued they are, and will come to the table thinking they're in a position of power...
Reality is, they're not, and the war of attrition is not currently in their favor.
Problem is that Donny feels the need to flex and be a negotiator, a role he's I'll equipped for in too many ways... Which as we saw last time he was in office, if he doesn't get his way he'll throw a literal tantrum! (see: him wanting dirt on Hunter)
Problem is, I don't see Puddin respecting any other country as a mediator. I doubt France anymore, given their willingness to help out with boots on the ground now. So it's pretty much a situation where neither side will agree to anything (not that Ukr should), and I feel like the only way this stops is through someone's surrender/withdrawl... ๐

ย @surpriseitsus9622ย Thanks! I've found a few checks I can perform to tell if my comments removed... Although, technically, they are only 'hidden', as they still are in our comment history.
I'll share them here for you and anyone else to utilize if needed:
When making a COMMENT (not a reply), you can click on it to go into the "comment thread" (even if no one has replied... If it's been removed, you'll get an "Error" and the "Retry" button. The automated system (algorithm based) usually removes them within 30-45 seconds after submitting it.
If you're REPLYING to someone, that method isn't possible... BUT, if you wait a minute or so and then Edit your reply (clicking the three-dots to the right), make a change, and then try to save it... If it fails to save then that again means it's been removed.
(this also works with commenting, but it's just easier to click your comment to check)

As much as I would love to think that... Sadly I doubt it'll be the case, and here's why:
- First and foremost, anyone considering buying from Russia will be drinking their kool-aid, and will believe anything they are told. Therefore, is Russia says these systems are infallible, with a perfect record... the buying country will believe it! Furthermore, If they are willing to go with Russia, they've clearly not been paying too close of attention to the war, which is also why they'd but into whatever they get told...
- Second, if they are willing to buy from Russia, that pretty much means they're shunned from buying elsewhere, leaving them no choice BUT to buy from Russia (or Iran, but they have their hands full and likely won't want to export anything currently). OR, they are already under sanctions and that's why.
- Lastly... Price... There's probably going to be a fire sale soon! But even if there isn't, their prices will likely be low because RU needs to make a buck, which we all know they will be desperate to do, if they are still a nation in the coming years! (my prediction has been that things snowball in 2025, and split up in 2027)
[cue the YT automoderation algorithm removing this comment, because I've said not-nice things about the invading nation...]

So today I am pretty sure I figured out the reason or motivating behind why Putin does what he does.... Simply, it's because he's fucking bored! ๐
Seriously, think about it. When a dog is bored, often times that's when they become destructive. How about extreme sports people? They didn't start there, they worked up to it...
Welp, that's Putin. He was a spy once upon a time, thrilling work I could imagine, even for the ones that were data analysts (not saying he was) since you'd always have your brain firing on all cylinders. Which on top of that, for an in-the-field spy, there'd be adrenaline rushes.
Now as time marched on after he became a politician, and the world climate stabilizes, what's there for him to do? For a guy like that I can't imagine running a country is all that fun. He had reached the top. He has the ability to do whatever he wants and likely has done most of it early on....
So when he gets bored? What, you expect him to play video games or read a good book?
Fuuuuck no! He's like a dog and wants destruction. He rigs an election (or, fixes it after losing), or starts shit by invading a country, or ways to screw with economy or supply chains, or have his critics killed!
Thing is, I don't know if this is better or worse than my initial thinking, where he was terminally ill (but has some years left) and is trying to leave some kind of "legacy" by increasing Russia's borders in a meaningful way.... Meaning he isn't wanting Russia to be in a bad state when he finally kicks the bucket, so he'd be conducting major actions BUT would only be bluffing when it came to using nukes...
Because now, if the last 15 years have been boredom-fueled, I'm worried that means he might go nuclear ๐ Right now, his carelessness seems to be very much like a man who's playing the boardgame RISK. His army, to him, are nothing more than plastic pieces on a map, not humans going to slaughter ๐
Thoughts?? ๐
Am I onto something, or just on something? ๐คช

โย @flouisbaileyย Unfortunately, the last one we had, allowed way too much to go on, withholding aid over a personal vendetta (aka childish reasons). I'm just glad he wasn't around for this invasion, otherwise Ukraine would've been steamrolled ๐ (hell, he probably would've tried to ASSIST in said steamrolling)
I'm just glad this administration had enough foresight to sign us up for 8 years of guaranteed aid to Ukraine, just incase Mr. ๐๐๐ did end up being reelected.
But you're not wrong... FAR too little has been done! We should've had troops helping with frontline defense since June of 2022, as it's the least we could do to make up for letting Puddin Pants get away with the various shit he's started over the last two decades... all of which inflated his ego and made him feel like he could do WHATEVER he wanted (because let's face it, we let him).
But more specifically, for us pledging our support to help protect their sovereignty in exchange for giving up their nukes (Budapest Memorandum), and then letting all the crap happen over there! Which you know the only reason the US and UK were signers of it was solely as an assurance that the other signer, Russia, would keep to THEIR word... because oh look, they didn't!
Still... Even IF most of what's gone on in Ukraine since becoming a sovereign country was related to internal corruption and thereby nothing we could get involved with (as per the Memorandum), Crimea should NEVER have gotten to the point of annexation. ๐
Our complacency was, and continues to be, completely inexcusable... ๐ฎโ๐จ
(I'm almost positive the automoderation system will strike this comment down, since I've used trigger words AND it's "strongly worded"... but maybe not ๐คทโโ๏ธ๐ค)

Small additional point on Cluster Munitions:
The big dislike is against DUMB Cluster Munitions! They are fired and dispersed, with zero targeting abilities, so the bomblettes will strike and explode any target in range (note: they typically disperse in-air to widen the impact area).
The use of Smart Cluster Munitions, are not frowned upon, stove each bomblette then can target something of its own (example: the "BONUS" artillery round that can drop multiple parachute munitions behind the primary round, each parachute device can track and streer to its target).
Another big difference, it's the Smart munitions have self destruct timers, in the same way that all modern infantry landmines are supposed to have self-disposal timed detonators (ahem, Russia.... you've already been caught not using them, after running out of the smart variants!)
So the US is free to send cluster munitions, and Ukraine free to use them, SO LONG AS neither their self-disposal, nor their smart targeting features, are tampered with.
BUT... And this is the interesting part... The treaties state that (closely paraphrased) "once a banned munition is utilized, it 'unlocks' then for the other side to utilize, without fear of legal repercussions".
In other words... Due to Russia having used many of the various types of banned munitions โ chemical (speculated), flechettes (unconfirmed but photographed), white phosphorus (undeniably used), dumb-cluster bombs (early days; undeniable) โ IF Ukraine wanted to, they could.
However, Ukraine is playing this war very very smart, doing everything as by-the-book as possible. They DO NOT want to be looked at in the same way we all look at Russia, as that would risk their much-needed support.... a very commendable stance to take, since it only makes their tall that much harder. ๐ข๐ซก
( P.S. - the "shotgun" analogy isn't great, since they use a HIMARS round that is literally just that, containing something like 160,000 tungsten rounds, to shred any light-armor/soft-body targets below its airburst detonation point. )
[source: one of the many banned munitions treaties; I went down a Wiki rabbit hole last year, so I'm not sure which specific one I read, but I think it was the same the detailed flechette rounds being banned (looking at you, AGAIN, Russia! ๐)]_
That being said: Are smart cluster munitions still a problem for civilians, despite these safeguards? Certainly. Other than for the obvious fact they're still explosives, their safeguards undoubtedly have an "acceptable failure rate", causing them to fail to self-dispose, or for their targeting to fail and hit civilian inhabited buildings.

Just another person here, wanting to express his gratitude for what you've done with these Summary Videos. Unfortunately, I live in a 'rural' part of podunk Tennessee and as such I'm not blessed with access to any semblance of modern internet, so I don't have the luxury of watching (long) live streams thanks to monthly bandwidth allowances.
Sadly, I only stumbled onto you just around the time you had started to get burned out... ๐ฅด
Anyways, thanks for enduring all that you have (and still do) in order to make those summaries! I had always assumed they were just cut-together segments from your live stream... As a thought, maybe that's still possible, to spare having to re-watch things, particularly uncensored things? Then, instead of including new voiceover, it could instead be captions (as I'm assuming that often, the live stream commentary would not be suitable/succinct to use)?
But I digress... What you've provided, it was invaluable on account of our American news having (understandably) shifted focus to covering our own unending nonsense; therefore, thank you for filling in that gap! ๐ค
