BRITAIN: Nobody could EVER screw-up their national aviation base like WE did. CANADA: HOLD OUR MOLSONs....

The Emus WON THE WAR, so they can be called whatever they want...😉

FWIW: I have been living in North Carolina since the mid-1990s, but I was born {in 1961} and raised in St. Petersburg, Florida. My parents never had any pink plastic flamingos in the yard that I can recall, but we had two palm trees that straddled the sidewalk leading from our front porch. I came to realize in my adult years those two palm trees were always my pink flamingoes.

AFAIK, rockets using liquid propellants should be referred to as having rocket engines. Rockets using solid propellants should be referred to as having rocket motors. BTW, this comes from a guy -- ME -- who used to refer to fanged snakes such as rattlers as poisonous, until I learned several years ago the correct term is actually venomous. And that same guy -- YES, STILL ME -- actually HAD a {non-venemous!} pet boa constrictor in the late 80s/early 90s.

I actually teared up just a wee bit at the end of that story....

@The History Guy: History Deserves to Be Remembered >>> regarding the Polikarpov PO2... https://youtu.be/V0zBlkeOkmQ

Taxxachusetts / Massivetwosh*ts residents can just learn to deal with it.

Hey, Massachusetts residents: Pronounce "Kissimmee," the name of a town in Florida. I'll wait...🤭

With the current development work going on in SMRs -- Small Modular [nuclear] Reactors -- I presume the US Army will have at least a working prototype within 10 years.

Although originally from Florida, I have been living in N.E. North Carolina since 1995. That said, I APPROVE the alternate name for the mullet: "North Carolina Neck Warmer." 🤭
1
JHNielson4851 >>> That means a "BFK". A "BIG F---ING KABOOM". 😁

👍👍

@The History Guy: History Deserves to Be Remembered >>> At about 07:03 in this video: You mention "15 square centimeters." Did you mean 15 square millimeters {1.5 sq. cm} instead? Or am I just trying to "Separate the fly [poop] from the pepper?" 😊😊😊 BTW, I recall using microfiche years ago, prior-to the current Internet era.

@TheHistoryGuyChannel FWIW: ALL these REMAKES and REIMAGININGS. I know TWO NOVELS - both by Arthur C. Clarke - that would make EXCELLENT MOVIES: (1) RENDEZVOUS WITH RAMA (2) ISLANDS IN THE SKY 'Nuff said....
1
@TheHistoryGuyChannel >>> "I say we take off and nuke the entire site from orbit. It's the only way to be sure." -- ALIENS [1986] 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊

FWIW: The first large flat screen {non-high definition plasma} television I recall seeing was at a GATEWAY[?] computer store in Virginia Beach, Virginia, sometime during or after 1995. The TV had to diagonal screen of either 60 inches or 6 feet, I cannot remember which, and was selling for $12,OOO US dollars.

@TheHistoryGuyChannel >>> Sometimes truth IS stranger than fiction!

Thomas Fitzpatrick: Operator of NYC's FIRST Flying Car. 😊

DEFINITELY deserves to be remembered....

So in 1958 & 1961, the USAF unintentionally tried to NUKE both of the Carolinas...😊

@TheHistoryGuyChannel >>> I think that might fall under the category of "DEVELOPMENT HELL"... 😊

Just so we are clear: Since retiring from the military in 2003, I have worn my hair long. Usually long enough to wear in a ponytail. It is NOT a MULLET. 🤭🤭🤭
1
@TheHistoryGuyChannel >>> Ask that person to find the "Florida panhandle"* {or some other United States feature} on a map, then respond in kind when they get it WRONG...😉
1
@yondie491 >>> I have been living in northeastern North Carolina since 1995. I STILL hear the term "Yankee" used by locals from time-to-time...🤭 {BTW, I was born & raised in St. Petersburg, Florida, to HOOSIER parents...😉}
1
@TheHistoryGuyChannel >>> Cool - Thanks!

Another great video! One correction: Referring to O'Banion's firearm, I think you meant "magazine" instead of "clip".
1
"SEMPER PARATUS." 👍👍

@The History Guy: History Deserves to Be Remembered >>> As of today - April 29th, 2019 (Monday) - there are 50 "Dislikes" for this video. They are probably ALL from RICHARD PARKERs, but I would like to think of them all as just DICKs. 😜😜😜😜😜😜😜

FWIW: I have lived in North Carolina since 1995, but I was born & raised in St. Pete. I also lived in Dade County from 1988 to 1995...👍

@john_in_phoenix >>> I had NO IDEA that problem existed.
1
Peter Rumsby >>> DON'T START....
1
@kashatnick >>> The problem with the Valkeryie was the Soviets developed SAM technology, or fighter aircraft - or BOTH - that cancelled the B-70's speed advantage

John Burkee >>> Can you get close to this location now? One of my hobbies is kite aerial photography [kap], and for some time I've been interested in trying to take aerial photos of that site. FWIW: I'm originally from Florida, but have lived in N.E. NC since 1995. I have three high school friends {also from Florida} who now live around Goldsboro. I never heard of the 1961 Goldsboro incident until sometime after I moved to NC, and I was somewhat shocked when I did learn of it. ONE THING I have wondered about is whether there has ever been - it could someday be - groundwater contamination from the radioactive material left in the ground...?
1
The History Guy: History Deserves to Be Remembered >>> When I first learned about the Goldsboro, NC incident, I remember reading a quote from one person involved, saying if one of the nukes had detonated, then in place of Goldsboro we would today have the Bay of North Carolina.... EDIT: I just found that Bay quote here: https://www.ourstate.com/hydrogen-bombs-north-carolina/
1
John Burkee >>> BTW, you said your grandmother was a young girl when this happened. I was about 2 weeks old when it happened, so I'm not much younger than your grandmother...LOL

This video is a 9 OUT OF 9. 😉
