Frankly this is disturbing. I will advocate for progressives to seperate and make their own party. I am aware of the vote splitting and what this all means but this is unacceptable in a system which is designed to be 2-parties only. It means there never was a democracy in America and the game was rigged from the start. We will see how the Democrats can survive without the progressive voters. And if this means the Republicans will win for a while or that even Trump or someone like him comes along ... so be it. It is time for reforms.

Don't call them stupid. It only pushes them further away. Don't try to ague with them based on facts. It pushes them only further away. They can't defend themselves against you that's why you only push people further away. If you make a mistake and argue wrong you can even make it worse. If you really must than argue from yourself by explaining why you think what you think and how you come to this conclusion. That way you do not attack those people directly with arguments and appear less aggressive you open up a way for them to understand you without being coerced into it. Try to make a connection on the emotional level. It's the only way to get through to them. This is especially successful when you are family, related or friends. Make them understand what effects their thinking, saying and actions have on you and your relationship with this person. To most persons family or friendship are more important than political opinion. If you can try to avoid political subjects, again try to connect on personal, emotional or family level. Try to seperate people from political media but carefully not by forcefully taking it away. Offer them something else to engage them in something more intresting for them. The longer you can keep affected people away from any political news and opinions for a while the better people change and even might lose interest. If you yourself are affected by this. Just try to ignore all political media for 2 weeks. Just shut it all off and do something else the world can and will continue without you. You lose this feeling of "missing something important" this strong hunger for more input after some days and you have a chance to go back to a normal level. And be absolutly honest to them. Don't try to hide things or even lie it can destroy every progress you made if you are found out. If you don't know anything be honest and tell them. People can understand that you don't know things but making something up or lie can make it worse than before.

The thing with the "everyone thinks it, so it must be true" has actually a name: Confirmation-Bias you could also call it "group thinking". But it's a terribly unreliable and dangerous especially with channels like Fox, OAN, Newsmax around who all say the same and all who confirm you watched the same channel. This is actually the reason why the same people say: Don't watch CNN or MSNBC or Left Social Media because they actually say something else and might give you an information the other hide from you.

"People prefer a comfortable lie over a hard truth."

And they wonder why people grabbing for the pitchforks in America if this is just ignored and allowed.
8
More like an excuse so their own or their donors taxes are not increased. Still not realized, but taxes reduce inflation.

When misinformations and lies costing lifes ...

Sometimes even a calculator is not helping. Simplest case: How much percent is 7 out of 83? If you don't even know how to handle this question even a calculator is not helping. And it's similar with even more complex matters. How do you check facts when you don't know how. How do you detect lies when you fail at simple logic.

@uncockblockable1235 If they don't pass this the Republicans can continue to use the state legislature to undermine the democratic vote ... and they (Democrats) are potentially not elected anytime soon. It's as simple as that. Even the centrists should have an interest in passing this or the Republicans will make sure the Dems are not voted anytime soon again. I would expel everyone from the Democrats who do not vote for this bill. They are either corrupt, secret Republicans or simple have the wrong mindset for the Democratic Party. In any case they support the Republican party indirectly and vote against democratic principles and should therefore be banned from politics ... at least on the side of the Democrats. And everyone from the Republicans not voting for this are against fair and correct elections and are therefore against the US Democracy ... no matter how much they say they want to protect it. They simply lying. This bill contains laws which are standard for most of the western democracies it's strange the US still havn't them.

Why the hell not? These are just laws. Laws can be ammended.

I have two theories on this: a) Matt Gaetz will make a plea-deal to escape prison and deliver a larger fish to the prosecutors. b) Matt Gaetz has a pardon from Trump he didn't showed anyone yet and his lawyer will present on trial. By showing it he admits crime and by using it to get a jail-free card he admits guilt. And even implicates Trump to a point because he gave thim this piece of paper. Either way, his career is over and his reputation will haunt him for the rest of his life.

Good one.

I saw an informative 22 min video about the Theory of Stupidity yesterday. And I immediatly recognize what this is. They checking up if Gibson belongs to them or to the "others". They checking if he is subscribing to the groupthink. I have to say I always thought malice is scary but not as scary as stupidity.
7
Trump is weird.
7
Nice. There is just one problem prices do not fall not even with zero inflation. Only higher income can counter inflation.
7
Better prepared than surprised.
7
This is not okay. If the local representative changes party or goes rogues the constituants in that district should be able to recall their representative and hold a special election.
7
There isn't even a culture war. "Culture War" is an invention by them. The culture is: American.

Cenk says nothing else. He is not suggestion to vote for Trump. He is just suggesting to not rely on encumbancy as Trump did in 2020 ... and lost.
6
@gaulindidier5995 I'd suggest you watch the video before commenting.
6
And was there ever a debate when one side was as bad as everyone expected and the other side shocked the nation with his performance because the people around him managed to keep it under wraps for a longer time?
6
Trump: "I take credit for failing to break NATO."
6
Don't overthink it .. just vote who you disagree with the least. You have only that or not voting and not voting is not an option you just leave the decission to others.
6
Sounds like someone watched the new series "Zero Day" on NFLX.
6
Imagine a school and that you have kids. Trump is the schoolmaster. Would you give your kids every day to that school?
6
I've see your effing post now on multiple video regarding antivax. You claim to be not be anti-vax but you have a cleverly crafted text that is arguing exactly that. I will report your post from now on as dangerous content.
6
I wonder if the stigma of quitting in the anglosphere also has something to do with the language. Other languages have different words for ending your job and "giving up" which gives quitting a different undertone. You not see it as "giving up" but as finding a better opportunity or as said ending one path to begin another.
6
@whyamimrpink78 Thanks for confirming my opening comment. Everyone is entitled to an opinion. Now what would happen if person A gets the real facts and person B slightly changed or even totally made-up ones. They would made their opinion on them and come to different opinions and they will debate until hell freeze over because they started not from the same base information. This is why lies or misinformations are dangerous because they create debate, division, anger and hate ... because both think they are right and based on the facts given to them they may actually be ... but one person got false facts.
6
Trump "woke" everyone up from the slumber of ignorance and indifference about politics.
6
Imagine how dangerous this is. As long as they are not called out or found out they continue lying and lying more and when they are found out they say "just kidding". Do you really believe if this has no consequences they will stop?
6
I wished people lying in public would get a jolt everytime they lie. Matt Gaetz would have been able to provide enough power for all of Mar-a-Lago on this day.
6
There is a difference between cooperation (Bi-Partisonship) and collaboration.

@xx3astmanxx928 I'm against it. Crypto mining allows everyone to mine or better the people with the cheapest power and the most CPU power ... in other words private rich persons. National money printing is bad enough but leaving it to private person is of which the richest have the easiest way to make more it corrupt. And I have not even started yet talking about Climate Change, Tax-Avoidance, Tax-Fraud, Illegal money tranfers, terrorism, illegal goods payments, and and and. But I will no continue here and now to discuss it because it's offtopic.
6
Don't allow anyone who tried to profit from Jan-06 or supported Trump in overturning the election to escape consequences! If they escape responsibility for their actions they will try again.
6
What I would want is that all wages, benefits and pensions are bound to the inflation rate. Meaning they have to rise at least by the inflation rate automatically. This would make inflation neutral for people on earned income (working people).
6
You know what this is really about? About the inability to say two things: 1) I don't know. -- When you don't know. 2) Sorry I was wrong. -- When you realize you were wrong. Edit: And I would add ... 3) I havn't made up my mind yet. -- Instead of making a quick decission based on feeling.
6
@danielessex2162 They should at least be aware that unless you earn more than 400,000$ per year GOP's policies arn't helping you.

Germany and the UK have publicly funded media. They collecting funding directly from the population in some kind of mandatory fee for people to fund themselves this makes them independent from special interests and from the government. Two factors are essential here: 1) Funding has to be collected from the public without government involvement or involvement from companies (via ads) or even outside private funding for example from billionaire or they have leverage over the media 2) The management/control of the media has to be outside the influence of government. The latter is currently a major issue because in the UK the BBC managers are appointed by government and the current Tory government gone a little overboard with their attempts at taking over. Ironically this is exactly what David Pakman or other channels like TYT do just on a much larger scale.
5
He hasn't noticed but it all goes down to wages (income) and that there is not enough of it due to inflation. This is because wages do not rise at least the same as the inflation rate and this is happening since the 70ties. However not all wages mid and low wages. The high wages however exploded. And now we are back at income inequality and the question how much of the revenue you make with your work goes to you. And this looks awfully bad in favor of shareholders and owners. In short ... greed and unwillingness to fairly share.

There is a movie I really like which seems harmless if not even naive at first view but it perfectly represents what is happening in America. Maybe in slighly different topics but you can find all elements. This movie shows it in the most American way possible. I highly recommend watching it and think about the parallels: The movie is called "Pleasantville".

Who is crying?

Title of the video is exaggerated. I didn't hear lunacy or insanity but I got the feeling this called starting to feel something is not right with Trump otherwise he would not have considered apologizing. The problem is not Trump the problem is the caller. Admitting what Trump is requires admitting Trump conned you and betrayed you and considering how many years and on what cost for Americans and America this came it is not easy to admit especially if you actively helped him on social media and also voted for him. It will take time. Trump will be gone one day and America will need decades to deal with the aftermath.
5
I wished you had ask him: "If 2020 was stolen why not 2024 when it mattered even more?"
5
As long as Bernie is not intentionally lying to you and you can criticise him constructivly without being thrown out everything is okay.
5
He also sells in Britain. For a while he even pretended "My Pillow"-Pillow is made in the UK to convince Brexiteers to buy his pillows. Like some "patriotic" pillow.

Remember, Remember, the 5th of November History has the unfortunate nature of wanting to repeat itself. That's why people who don't know history are fated to repeat it.
5
When it looks like Trump wins I would have my passport ready and/or renewed ... just to have options.
