  3. @ That's literally what a mach 3 means - an interceptor. Interceptor = fast speed. That's the whole point of the interceptor aircraft. Besides, it can launch missiles at fast speed.

  7.  @voidtempering8700  1 that's where you've missed it. No tails is not just about the RAM. It's a whole new field of aviation to explore for efficiency and not just the low observability (and arguably beauty as well). 5 none of the 5th gen can control the swarm of drones. There aren't any swarms of drones to be controlled yet. Upgrading a previous gen doesn't mean that it becomes a new gen. It remains to be an improved previous gen. There are also no radical improvements either.

As you guys seem to think that tail is only about reducing it's RCS lol and that is wrong. It is absolutely part of the next gen. We already have a gen designation for stuff that upgrades it's stuff with the 6th gen designation and it's not a "+" designation it's a 4.5, or in this case 5.5 designation. On top of it it's got nothing to do with flying far, as it purely depends on it's role and not it's generation etc etc etc i. e. everything is completely wrong.

  9. @ It's got nothing to do with Boeing to be honest I haven't even seen their design. I personally was brainstorming it myself, and the definition is coming from my own brain and not some one elses drawn plane. Although it is obviously based on the development of the aviation itself. But got nothing to do with that supposed Boeing design. You can say that the 6th gen actually started from the flying wing concept of Hortons design , evolved into the B2 and is only now ready to debut in the late 1920s as the base 6th gen design - though it has a long time for improvements and refinement which will happen in the 7th gen. Yes, everyone was looking up to the F22 when designing it's own 5th gen, because it was officially the first 5th gen (though technically speaking F117 was the first 5th gen, but it was a bad 5th gen craft). So everyone was looking up to it when designing a 5th gen themselves. It doesn't have to be a copy of it. But have similar characteristics and design ideas to it. With main one being - low observability. And obviously higher thrust engines and improved electronics and fly by wire etc.

  10.  @HuntingTarg  That's why I'm not making it up on the spot. I've literally been thinking about it for years. And in my head it's pretty simple. The standard designation is a simple most common fighter concept of planes at a given time period. As simple as that. A fighter jet sets the tone for the generational designation. And everything else is an offset/ a deviation. After you realize that simple fact, it becomes very easy labeling the gens. And yes, every gen design is moving towards pretty much the most slick and the most efficient design, given that the tech catches up to it...

But it is a flying wing concept which is slightly different to the just a no tail fuselage and which has bulges instead of straight lines. But it doesn't have any other prerequisites for the 6th gen. But if you want you could count it as a bad 6th gen or just not a 6th gen at all... It's the same as that guy building a $200k Lamborghini replica in his garage for $2k. Is it a Lamborghini? Kinda but not really. You can call it a Lamborghini but it's not really it. Doesn't have all the bells and whistles of it, even though it looks like it. That is by the way why they are calling the B21 concept a 6th gen craft. As B21 is a smaller version of a B2. Technically you can justify that, if you improve the radar, improve it's engines, EW etc etc etc you could justify calling it a 6th gen. So technically, an improved version of a B2 could be technically called a 6th gen... a 6th gen bomber to be precise. Which is again, technically not the same as a 6th gen fighter jet, but lines do get blurred going up in gens, where the crafts merge different jets and roles into a single jet... But we are not quite there to build one plane that fit's all... So the roles do exist and will exist for a few more gens, which would have different charateristics to the gens between different roles.

  12.  @atticusrussell1225  Well, then it would get too technical if I were to specify it, and would have to fork out into different possibilities (since the gen isn't defined until there's a flying series production craft). With example of an engine as it can be so many different things, which depends on lots of other technologies and directions. The only thing that we can say is that it will be a new and improved engine. As both countries Russia and America have their engines in development for the 6th gen crafts. But it's scheduled to arrive around 2035 which is when the 6th gen fighter jets scheduled to be introduced. But before that point, and depending on which direction they go, anything could happen and it could develop into anything. As it stand, for the current gen crafts, they are just upgrading and will be upgrading it's current gen engines for the F22 and the F35 which is scheduled to be placed in an improved "6th gen" B21 bomber (which is a smaller version of the B2). And anything in those 10 years could change. Including installing previous gen engines etc. so it's hard to call anything at this point. We can just say that it will be improved and that's it.

  14.  @adamb8317  Yep that's the objective reality. To cater into everything that aiframe had to be a bomber airframe. And that is precisely why it's OK at everything, and good at nothing. The thing is it's not a bad plane in theory. But when compared to the modern capable adversaries it looks like a complete joke ( because its a bomber). Good against weak/ semi weak defenses. Bad against the modern highest capabilities adversaries like Russia, it would get smoked if it ever got in contact with the modern Russian radars and AA. That's why they refused to deliver already contracted F35s to Turkey and why they are afraid to put it in U. Because they know it would get smoked immediately. LOL

  15.  @adamb8317  The only problem with those statements is that it's only speculation and theories at best. The real capabilities can only be assessed in the real world combat. And that is precisely why they are not sending it to U. because it would get smoked. Whilst Su57 flies daily in and over the combat zone and hasn't been shot down once. If they say that it's better they should just send it to U. and put all of the critics to rest.

  16. But the problem is that it means there will be no more fighter superiority/dominance jets anymore. Which doesn't make sense from a strategical point. It means that that strategy is relying on them not getting caught out with their pants down. Which is not a good strategy it is a flawed strategy. The last superiority fighter was the F22 and it will be phased out by 2040. If there will be no NGAD. It means the US won't have any superiority fighters left.

  18.  @kwonekstrom2138  Literally everyone. China, India, Algeria etc. (not going to give out everyone, but it is pretty much available and an open formation for anyone who seeks it). Combat losses are insignificant, it stalled the deliveries a little bit, but didn't affect them too too much. Moreover, because it is in high demand of how good the Russian crafts are. Everyone is willing to be waiting in the queue for them for 5 years. As it was reported there were contracts signed for the Su57, but it went on a 5 year queue as far as I understand. So in those few years, the armchair generals on the internet will be saying "why hasn't Russia sold it's Su57 yet if it's so good"... Meanwhile countries literally standing in the queue and are waiting patiently for it, before Russia first fulfills it's own demands for that craft before it start exporting them abroad lol

What did you expect, when you are testing a prototype craft. It would enter service only in a couple of years. In the meantime they will continue testing it, which will inevitable lead to losses too. That's absolutely normal, for a prototype to malfunction. Hence why it is under constant supervision from the Su57 itself. And Su57 is contributing every single day, it flies in and out of the combat zone on a daily basis, and that's why it got bruised in one of the military bases close to the conflict.( all of the aircrafts got already repaired). Can I get a single confirmation of another 5th gen fighter flying inside an active military combat zone? Oh wait... it doesn't exist. The only 5th gen that had already done it and we have the video proof of it was the Su57...

  20. @ and? it is accomplishing it's designated tasks on a daily basis. Serving both as reconnaissance, air to air, air to ground, as well as a drone control, and an AEW duties as well. It is literally serving as an multirole fighter as per it's 5th gen design to begin with. Nobody is going to be providing you with daily reports of what it did where on a daily basis, thats. is classified for obvious reasons. And it is not isolated from the rest of the Russian mil. as you can see it effectiveness overall daily on the b field moving the front lines on a daily basis in Russian favor, in part thanks to the Su57 as well.

  23.  @wisenber  ... they did. Besides you can always calculate the costs yourself, all of the info is open source especially for the older crafts. It has never been that expensive IN HISTORY. That's the point. At most 100 - 200 billion, and the F35 is like 10 times more than any other program combined. The most expensive one in the history of the world.

Yet they are not nuclear capable, you need to modify them first, and second the US has full control over it. And it has no nukes. Also USA invaded Bay of Pigs ( Cuba). Also Ukraine doesn't operate any nuclear capable aircraft yet. There is no way to see this as anything other than a western attampt to reduce poilcitcal backing for Russia.

That type of drone carrier is the only one in it's existence. And it's commendable for them doing something unique.

  31.  @amandarhodes4072  Dude, combat drones on the battlefield only showed themselves as a formidable force just a few years ago when this w. vs Russia conflict started to begin with in Ukraine. Nobody had made it before because it was not a thing. And Iran is now first with this innovation. Just you wait. And it will become a new norm within a few years or more likely decades. That's pretty much the future anyway and Iran was first in it.

But literally presenting literally the same drone in different roles and being proud of it is weird. B21 is a smaller version of the B2. The only impressive thing is NGAD which everyone is waiting for. One trainer aircraft ( again I don't get how that is impressive as that is the easiest thing to do), and a bunch of the same drones with slightly different characteristics. Obviously not everyone would see the light of day too...

So they are stuck between a rock and a hard place. As the F22 frame itself is outdated now, and they need an NGAD frame with a new engine...

It doesn't matter what caused it, it's still a crash. That's the point. And you can disguise any sort of technical problems with "pilot errors" if needs be. And we would never know. The Su 57 flies constantly over the battlefield, and we have video proofs of it. And thank you for finally mentioning that "loss" , as that "loss" turned out to not be a loss. And yes all of the propagandists were claiming that it as a loss lol, and there were no way for me to tell the truth, because they would just ban it lol. So I was watching it unfold in real time, and watching all of the propagandists spewing the same propaganda about it without the actual facts lol. None of the crafts were lost, one went for repairs and is now flying on an active duty. But I knew you would mention it, 2 days ago lol. So I was waiting to respond to it for 2 days 😂. Though it's not his main role since it is trained controlling the S70 drone and cooperating it's forces on the battlefield through reconnaissance and control, on top of it fulfilling it's combat missions with missiles too. It is the most used 5th gen plane in the world. And it hasn't been shot down or crashed even once. Which proves that it's the best 5th gen in the world and nothing even comes close.

So this time I would just like to focus on the engine as one example, since it's the absolutely an unachievable marvel that can't be created by any other country in the world. The Al51 engine (it's derivative). Has the highest thrust to weight ratio of any jet fighter engine, has 3D vectoring technology, optional stealth nozzle, the most reliable, the cheapest, the most efficient, with plasma ignition system, modern computer controls of different efficiency modes etc. an absolute unmatched marvel of engineering. That no one else in the world can match. The only thing that can potentially be better is either the Russian next or the NGAD engine, which I'm eagerly waiting on at this point. That is the only thing that can potentially surpass it is the 6th gen engine. But at the moment, nothing even comes close to, comparing it to the closest rival the F135 engine, it has slightly more max thrust (cruise/combat thrust is about the same) and there are more F135 engines, and also there's an option for a vertical take off variant VTOL... and that's the only 3 redeeming factors to it's closest rival... Everything else is better for the Al51, which is the engine of the Su57M. And is one of the factors why it is the best craft. I am absolutely fascinated with that engine, especially when you learn the history of it and how the school was developed... Not sure if that would be interesting to listen to, but I could absolutely write a book about it...

Armchair generals giving different definitions to what the engineers of said plane had given it. 🤦‍♂ Russia has alot of 4++++ fight jet planes ( Su35 a. e. ) but Su 57 is a 5th gen fighter jet plane. It was designed as such from the beginning. In fact It had started from the Su 47 which was also a 5th gen fighter get plane. Their next iteration the Su 57 was obviously also a 5th gen fighter jet.

  49.  @Canthus13  open up a calculator and divide the 2 trillion over those amount of aircrafts it's almost 1 billion a pop. There's now such metric as "per year" otherwise you would have to compare it to other aircrafts, and you can't because there's no metric for that. 2 trillion is THE MOST EXPENSIVE program out of ANY jet aircraft program in the world. IT IS the most expensive one and that is why it is an F.
