There's always deals that have to be fulfilled before they'll accept something, even if temporary. Why can't they get a partial deal now, because many need help,NOW, not a month from now. Then work out arrangements for talks about other financial aid in a month or so. Many need help right now. It was stupid to give the 600 a week out to people earning 400 a week, if they don't put the excess away for a rainy day. If the bank was gonna run outta money at the time when the 600 stopped coming. Now, all those people that were getting 600 a week when they used to earn 400 a week, have blown through it , thinking, yahoo! Extra money to have fun with.
Also, the 1200 one time, should never have gone out to people who didn't need it. They just shoved it in their banks or bought a boat or whatever, when it was meant for hardship money, not splurge or savings boost funds. My son makes almost 80 thou a year, and has three kids. So not only did he get 2400 for his wife and himself, but 1500 for the kids. Where a poor family could truly have used that money just to survive. But it was given to a family doing just fine. Ridiculous. And we wonder why our deficit is so damn high.

@michaelgl8516 The thing is Ruth, things like this go on thruout the world. Look at Afghanistan. Iraq. Everywhere we've stuck our nose in, so to speak, what has happened? There has been thousands of soldiers and civilians killed and the events still go on. Viet Nam, Korea. Africa. How many places have we, stuck our noses in. And the mess stays the same? Unless there is a complete annihilation of bad people, governments, whatever. The cancer comes back. Russia has been an ongoing battle for decades. Some things you just can't fix by more war. Yes, something needs to be done. But just like when we have our personal problems here, that cause deaths and destruction. We don't ask other countries to come and fight our battles. We help as we can without adding to the destruction. I'll guarantee you, if we went in, guns blazing, it would start ww3. And you and I, your kids and grandkids may very well be nothing more than statistics. Right along with every Ukrainian. Ww3, won't be an ongoing back and forth. It'll be the apocalypse. Or close to it.
Zelenskyy talks from the spirit of an actor. Speeches are fine. Reality is another thing. He just wants to win, just like Putin. Which is maybe how all this started. Both leaders being tuff guys. Then the people pay the price.
Anyway Ruth, I agree it seems more could be done to help Ukraine and her people. But it has to be considered, every step.
Nobody is turning their heads and ignoring it at all.

@michaelgl8516 I agree Ruth that Ukraine deserves to be a free government, if they wish. But since WW2, governments have made and signed agreements. We the people obviously aren't privy to every detail of. Or choose to check into. America cannot be responsible for policing every other country when they have internal issues.
Like I said, we don't know all the reasons this situation escalated to it's present state. At least I don't, do you? I do know it's been simmering for years before now. I know too that before Zelenskyy, were other leaders, more in tune with Putin s ideals and maybe that's the problem.
All I can say is, no-one is turning their heads and ignoring this. It's being dealt with daily. We, " the US", can legally only do so much. The Russian people have some say in this. As it grows, sentiment in Russia will move towards stopping it somehow. Hopefully. Aid is flowing in from everywhere. Help with weapons, and supplies are constant.
And yes we can compare Ukraine to Afghanistan or the other countries we have been in. Those people are just as human as the Ukraine people. They desired freedom to choose their own government and lifestyle too. But sometimes in country traditions win out. And the standards stick. We're not the perfect example of perfect society, so we just don't have the right to put ourselves over the rights of other societies to be what they've been for centuries. This is why treaties and pacts are made between different countries. We have to abide by those pacts too.
It's terrible what the citizens of Ukraine are having to live through. Just as for other countries that live in a dictatorship. But sometimes you have to watch from your border, help where you can to minimize strife. And hope in this case, the Russian people will do the right thing. Make him stop. He knows he can't win, at least whole heartedly. But we can't make the Russian people do what they won't do. No more than other countries telling us who we should elect or dump. We're all people of the world, true. But until every country signs some agreement to listen to us or someone else, every time there are conflicting views. We have to do what we're doing.

@michaelgl8516 Ruth, I do agree Ukraine is a country, state, that wants democracy. You say, Afghan people don't seem to want democracy, enough to fight for it. And once again, I don't know any Afghan people. Nor do I know why they don't seem to want to stand up to extremists like the Taliban. But once again, that doesn't make them expendable either. Yet we were there for 20 years trying to train and give them incentive. Maybe it's religious reasoning, maybe something else.
But it's things like Vietnam , Korea, and others, that show us using every diplomatic way to stop tyranny before reverting to killing yet more people, is more civilized. Seems all war does is reduce population to the point that there's no one left to fight.
You also say the Russian people won't do what is necessary. That's what happens in an authoritarian government. Propaganda keeps the people from knowing the truth. Daddy says, Ukraine bad. Must be true. Daddy don't lie.
Thats why everyone is working to educate the Russian people. With our own propaganda, haha. Do we ever really know the.. truth? Do we know for fact... Ukraine is telling the whole truth and nothing but? Do the Ukrainian people fight and die for the truth? I've heard Ukraine was a very crooked state or country. Whatever it is. There are so many different answers. But obviously murdering thousands of people, is contemptuous at best. And it should stop.

@marcilk7534 Sure, but when people run it into the ground, that's not always funny to the person that makes the error and is making a serious point. Some people feel truly offended, when they see someone they highly respect, get trounced. And they speak out, defending that person. Then seeing their action made fun of without any compassion,, it could hurt them. When all they were doing, was defending someone they consider honorable.
I made many mistakes in Grammer and spelling,,, still do. Once someone corrected me. It hurt for a while, but made me start proof reading. But still,,, can hurt.

Once again, us relying on China or other offshore services to manufacture our products that we need. What happened to, brining back production to our country? What the hell do you think the Chinese are going to do with product if they're having a crisis? What the hell is wrong with us? Are we nothing but consumers? Working for nothing but real estate, cruises, vacations etc,,, but totally reliant on other poorer countries to make everything for us, and then bitch because they aren't buying equally from us,,,, WE DON'T MAKE ANYTHING!

I totally agree that trump's behavior is making Bidens job much harder. But we should understand that the right, uses that same excuse to trumps ability to get things done, because of all the constant attack from the House, in regards to impeachment after impeachment. I'm a democrat, but I try to see it from both sides. There's no doubt trump was a terrible president as well as a terrible human being, for most part. But he did want to make improvements in things like health care and maybe even America's standing in the world marketplace. He did want to create a healthcare plan, in his eyes, better than Obamacare. But McConnell never worked on anything. He also thought, being civil, with our enemies, Russia, North Korea. Was a good thing, which it is, if they accept it, which they don't.
The main problem with trump, beyond his horrible upbringing, is his greed, ego and ignorance.

This is f, n ridiculous. She's scared she's gonna lose reelection. What is wrong if Robert's has to be a tie breaker? He has a job to do just like her. Do your job and be honest and allow witnesses. They've proven if the house had gone to court over the more of the witnesses in the house preliminary. Bring in Biden, call their bluff. They don't want any witnesses, none. They want it over so Trump can crow in the state of the union. And if any, witnesses are called it'll pull this out. DAMN U REPUBLICANS,! 75% of the public want a proper trial. Your constituents. People who elected you. The majority want witnesses. You're lying if you say you're doing this for the people. You're doing it for one idiot,,,,, rump.

@Bright Flash I agree the democrats acted similarly, to a degree,, as with this now, standing up for their own. But firstly, in my opinion that whole mess was rigged. The Republicans had it in for him his whole time in. They couldn't wait to get something on him. And isn't it strange how Starr was so, so determined to hang him, but now, a true proven con man, lying slug gets caught red handed doing a totally illegal act and according to all the same people that wanted to crucify Clinton, are trying so hard to prove rump an angel.
Personally I think Monica was a plant. Knowing Clinton was an easy mark for a little extramarital sex. I can't remember who spilled the beans, probably her. I'll find out. But anyway, if you compare that to what rump did,, well then you're a Trump lover and what you say is as bias as any of these that don't want witnesses.
Fact is, he got caught, but being a billionaire and as crooked as hell, he'll get off. Just as he's done his whole life. Paid his way outta everything.

@Bright Flash I can't find your latest comment to reply to, but did read it. And it mimicked every talking point the glorious white house lawyers hocked up. Bottom line is rump got caught, fact. And they're hiding every bit of testimony and witness to protect him. All that bullshit, as said by our past legal witch Pam Bondi "said, pretty shiny distractions ", is just that.
Be real. Trumps been a slug, grift, con man, his whole adulterer life. He's proud of it. He's never gonna stop, president or not. His whole family is busy makin gobs of money strictly because he's in the white house. Don't give us the crap about Biden. All of that has been debunked by the state department because they investigated and found nothing. Plus, if rump was soooo, determined to fight crime, why did he wait till Biden was whopping his ass in the polls?
The senate trial was just as 75% of the American people say, a joke. They used bullshit, to stop any witnesses or paper information.
This is all gonna prove true very soon. But as long as Teflon orange gets off right now, that's all he and obviously you Trump lovers care about.
You'll be cheering at the rallies, for a thug wannabe the paid his way outta jail again. He isnt the first crook to pay the jury off and won't be the last. History is full of rumps, by any other names, smell.

What the hell is with this crap with partisan, non partisan bull. Trump did something wrong that was pointed out by a whistle blower. Reported properly and brought to the attention of a superior that agreed. The house majority investigated thoroughly and for a long time, making sure the accusations were reasonable and proper. The Republicans stood blindly together, no matter what the evidence and many perfectly honorable TRUMP,, appointed professionals testified too. The Republicans made it partisan. So stop this shit that it's all partisan and both sides are guilty of being partisan. The Republicans are just denying everything,,, that's for sure partisan,, the democrats have to have it partisan because of the Republicans, period.

How is Putin saying he's sending in peace keeping raids, when he's the one causing the battle. How do his, " advisors", not say no to this. It's so obvious that he's the attacker, not the peacekeeper. He saw how the Taliban claimed Afghanistan by shear military type force, after 20 years of trying to make Afghanistan a democracy, like Ukraine is trying to be. Putin has never agreed to Ukraine being a separate state, and it seems he's finally saying, just a couple of years before he's supposed to give power to another president. Yeah, he's a real good role model for djt, as to how to rule a country. Just like trump said the day of the 6th. You can't rule by being soft. Ya gotta be strong. And then again just now. Putin's being so savy. Using the military against his own people.
Strange how trumps fine with military use against people he doesn't like, but the Jan 6 th attackers deserve to go free because they were attacking in his name. So no military use against them, when his civilian soldiers, attacked the capital.
