@Solidus78 .. Please tell me where I or another in this thread, said that there is a father in any of these homes. There are statistically likely to be some, but whether there is or is not, the father of these children have COMPLETELY failed them. The whole thing is not only tragic and HORRENDOUS for society, but sad. We get to watch another generation of lost black youth who are more violent and less accountable to the one prior.
.
Were I POTUS in 2024, in my top 3 list of things to address... Welfare. I would turn it on its head and remove financial assistance, for fatherless homes and look to create some incentives for marriage. However, this is a societal issue and simply being "married" will not automatically a good father, make. One thing is for sure... paying single moms MORE for each child they have without a father in the home, has worked to destroy the black family.
.
So long as Democrats continue to treat blacks as their pets in the voting booth, identity politics will thrive and endlessly paint them as victims of a systemically racist system that DOES NOT EXIST.

@Andreallen4 ... I certainly don't want to see that, nor do I think most pro-lifers. There are 2 issues that MUST be agreed upon, before this freak out will EVER end. Those who are pro-choice (pro-abortion, if one prefers) need to answer the following:
1. What is the pro-life persons issue with abortion?
2. When does life begin?
.
Unless BOTH of those questions have a common ground, this argument will NEVER, EVER, EVER, EVER end! The first question, could probably be agreed upon, at least in so far as to understanding the motivation of pro-life argument. The 2nd, however.... no way would there be consensus. Some will agree "at conception", but still fall back to "her body, her choice" position. Most though, will say "heartbeat", has "fingers" or some physical characteristic to "look" human. We know that this is a thinly veiled cover to shield their sensibilities from the horrendous act they partake, because it would be extremely difficult to accept the idea of human murder.
.
What makes this all even worse than has been all along, is the absolute demonizing of conservatives, so that even having a discussion is verboten. This leads us to why 1a is such a threat, because the leftist wants to attribute "words" to violence. If they can control language, they control ALL of humanity, because discourse is essentially made illegal. I think that full scale 1960's style resolution is where we will end up, as the cult will NEVER stop pushing the rest of us to the point where anything else is available.

@The_Phoenix_Saga ... Agreed :) The life on Mars analogy is a perfect one, but the problem is the telegraphed response when using it. If you can get a pro-choice person to calm down long enough to actually HAVE a rational discussion, I can all but guarantee it will end, the moment you say... "If we land a probe on Mars and find a clump of cells, scientists would call tha...." instant anger will likely be the response.
.
Pro-life people most certainly want people to take responsibility for actions, but the argument will nearly 100% of the time be instantly hijacked with VERY rare examples of r*** and in*** pregnancy and to the straw man of how pro-lifers don't care and should be forced to have the baby anyway.
.
Unless one is LITERALLY a conception absolutist, the overwhelming vast majority of those who are pro-life will concede a VERY limited exception for such extreme cases. While the baby / fetus is STILL innocent, the trauma may be to much for the mother and could very well lead to harm in development of the baby anyway. Such harm IS a form of "child abuse", but the health of the mother MUST be taken into consideration in such specific circumstances.
.
Safe, legal and EXCEPTIONALLY rare, is something that would be a bit fragile, but if we could ALL agree on this, I think all of this anger would go away. Some on both ends would STILL be unhappy, but we cannot please everyone.

@mentos93 ... It is most certainly a wedge issue and is EXACTLY why this information was leaked. Whether it was an intern or even one of the judges, it is either a "testing of the waters thing" or a deliberate attempt to rile up the outrage mob and this has most certainly succeeded.
.
We must also acknowledge that it is the extreme left that is driving a MASSIVE wedge in our society, as there is ZERO self-policing within the Democratic party and has lost a TON of support due to it. At the end of the day, the completely OPEN demonizing of conservatives from Regressives, big tech, public education K~12, colleges / universities, Gen Z and the Twitter outrage mob means that any and all discussions on ANYTHING of which we disagree is verboten.
.
The abortion issue aside, the discourse has gone to pretty much ZERO, because conservative voices are told to STFU on ALL of social media, so we cannot even sit down to seek compromise. Conservatives are getting so sick and tired of being told their evil, their patience is running thin, so we are seeing more of them gloat or otherwise play some of the same games Regressives have been playing for nearly a decade now.
.
Of one thing we can be certain... for every time we hear our political "leaders" call conservatives "white supremacists" and "neo-Nazi's" for SIMPLY being conservative, it further emboldens the extreme left to perpetuate violence as a means to address speech to which they disagree.

@Battleborn357 ... I agree with all that you have said :) To be clear, and I am not certain on this, so clarify if I am reading you wrong. I personally am not so extreme as to force a r*** or in*** victim to carry to term, as I do think that is it's own kind of evil. I did mention that even if the case it is STILL and innocent fetus / baby, so I while I am not a "conception absolutist", I understand how / why people make that argument. I think that is JUST as extreme as the argument some make for 'up to and including birth" for abortion. While the latter may be more rare, BOTH exist.
.
Unfortunately, while both extremes exist, the "up to and including..." one is a position more have been embracing, as a show of just how committed they are to choice. As mentioned earlier, we cannot allow THOSE extremes to drive the conversation, but the squeaky wheel gets the grease, as they say and that latter person is NOT being told they have gone too far, by the pro-choice community.

@chrisallison9151 ... RE: It's not a strawman... : I will answer your question, but will you offer me the same respect to answer mine?
.
Besides, answered your question, I just did so with sarcasm, as it was the most civil way to answer such a question that was posed. Yours is a ridiculous argument, because one is a direct expression of wilful malice, while the other is an extremely unfortunate possibility of a 100% natural and 100% NECESSARY risk. To make myself clear.... NO. When this happens it is ALWAYS tragic and not only for the mother. The baby, while he / she will now have an opportunity to survive, will miss out on a special bond that is most strong, when with the biological mother.
.
Now.. i will ask that you show me the same respect to answer the questions I have posed. Feel free to "zing" me, as I have you, but I would like an honest answer to very reasonable questions. If you cannot or will not answer those questions, it will say something about your willingness to have an intellectually honest conversation and this is ALL I ask of anyone with whom I disagree :)

@chrisallison9151 ... RE: I dont' think financial responsibility equates... : Chris..... pregnancy is a 100% legit possibility with most encounters of heterosexual sexual contact (you know what I mean, when I say "contact"). This is something that BOTH participants hold responsibility and goes without saying that FAR, FAR, FAR too many women become pregnant, when they did not wish to be. There is NO perfect, yet NON permanent solution to this issue, so let's just be honest and accept that this will probably forever be the case.
.
Now, I used the words "financial responsibility", because other than emotional / psychological support, that is all that the father can offer during pregnancy. It goes without saying, that HER commitment has many more obligations, as well as commitment, but again.... BOTH knew this possibility, but far, far, far too often... this "consequence" is not fully acknowledged by one or both parties.
.
YES... both who agree to enter into a sexual relationship SHOULD absolutely discuss the ramifications ahead of time, but we all know this is far too often ignored by one or both and particularly, at the first such encounter. Since sexual contact is 100% driven by the biological instinct of BOTH participants and is a 100% natural progression of the human experience, someone needs to be the adult in the room.
.
It would certainly by my hope, that BOTH are willing to be that adult, but fair or not... babies are created within the mother, so women pay a much higher "price" for NOT being the adult in the room. We have not even touched on the regret, be it very small or huge that many women understandably feel after an abortion, but there is also a risk of FUTURE pregnancies or even a woman's life, by getting one.
.
One can be mad about why these things are, but he / she will just have to take it up with our creator.

@Battleborn357 ... I have been meaning to not only re-read The Constitution and Bill of Rights, but I would need to spend a LOT of time to truly "digest" them. Sadly, with each generation, starting with probably Boomers, the appreciation for what amazing documents these are is slowly becoming lost :( The Constitution is certainly not perfect, but we must take into account it was written LONG before much of the technology we have to day was even dared to be conceived, but was written by humans and we are fallible creatures.
.
The Constitutional amendments are a way to address the "wrongs" the founding fathers KNEW would be discovered, as they had the foresight to recognize and fully acknowledge there would be flaws or failings of that document. We need only take a look around to see Canada, Australia, Germany and MANY Western World nations, who's laws and rights are loosely based on The Ten Commandments, The Constitution, Bill of Rights and Declaration of Independence, but NONE of them have those documents codified into not only national law, but as "natural rights".
.
Were it not for The Constitution and VERY specifically, the Bill of Rights, we could VERY easily go by way of what we saw in Canada recently over the Trucker's protest. What Trudeau did was BEYOND criminal, by ANY metric of Western values and due to the Regressives of the Leftist Cult, have watched Biden LITERALLY create treasonous acts on at minimum of 3 times and at least an impeachable act at our Texas border, last year.
.
If we did not have 300+ million guns in this country, and most of them legally owned by good American citizens... Biden would do EXACTLY the kinds of things we are seing world wide and has even gotten away with some already!

@jefferygoines ... RE: If it's murder.... : Not sure to whom you are directing this comment, as you probably have somebody specific in mind, but I will chime in on it anyway :)
.
There are some who would argue that she should go to jail, however, I am not one of them. While I am pro-life, I understand there are exceptions to every rule, I would like to see those exceptions as very, if not exceedingly, rare. In order to understand why so many are pro-life and upwards of 67%, if memory serves, want at least some restrictions on abortion.... Matthew, please answer the following questions:
1. Why do YOU think those of us who are pro-life, feel this way? I am talking about probably 99.9% of us.
2. When does "human life" begin? In your opinion, at what point does that "clump of cells" become a human?
.
I will throw in some food for thought, of why I, and would safely say 99.9% of pro-life people would say (tossing out the .01% who think "tossing out" is murder... lol). My answer to #2 is conception. I say this because, that "clump of cells" has 100% of the DNA necessary to become a person, just like all of us, except it only need time and nourishment from the mother's care. I happen to have my Dad's hair and my mom's eyes. My father and I have always been about as far from close as it saddens me to say, but I have always written the capital letter "R" in the exact same, albeit odd, way. My torso is a bit longer than proportionally relative to my legs and is the same as my dad. More and more of my physical features resemble my father, as the years go on.
.
My point....? If this "clump of cells" is something OTHER than an under developed human life, how is it that children VERY often assume may facial features, eye color, skin tone as the parents? Take a look at your and any family, then note physical similarities between parents and their off-spring. Is some of this random...? Sure, some of it is.However, the number of those born with similar or nearly identical features as the parent, cannot be all explained away, via random coincidence.
This all tells us, that the "clump of cells" is a "mixture" of both mother and father, with the addition of basic human building blocks, so as to keep the human race more resistant to genetic degradation over time.
.
Lastly... why is the subject of your comment, a "political coward"?
.
I await your reply, Matthew :)

@cj-gj2io ... Ya, the Atlantic is known as a balanced bastion of non-bias journalistic integrity! My mother cited the Atlantic, among several other Joseph Goebbels Propaganda media (CNN, MSNBC.. etc) and she is the Queen Bee, Grand Pupa of TDS Local Chapter 38. It takes no more than my experience of their "articles" to know how TDS driven they are, but my mother LITERALLY begins violently shaking with what looks like and EXTREME case of Parkinson's, at the mere mention of Trumps name in ANY capacity, that is not equated to Hitler himself. There is no way in hell, she could ingest anything but pure vitriol, disgust and the presentation of PURE EVIL, when it comes to Trump. It would be an actual health risk, for her to watch news or read an article that was even neutral about trump, much less say ANYTHING less than Hilteresque about him.
.
PS> Looking at the author, I find the odds infinitesimally small anyone would have @cj-gj2lo as screen name and not be a bot. Since he / she / it has not returned for reply to the many referencing it here, also says one or two things. 1) This is a leftist who does not have actual evidence to back up claims of something racist, fascist, homophobic that Trump has committed and 2) A bot doe not get notifications of responses to comments.

@zltp10 ... RE: did he condemn them or not for their actions ? Simple yes or no : Any response to my debunking of the lie you have been fed on this? I am not looking for a pat on the back, I am looking to break through some of the BS you have been told about Trump. NOBODY will say, Trump is not guilty of running his mouth (or thumbs), when he should STFU and better consider his words. However, while he has next to no filter on his mouth or thumbs, he says what a MAGA sheet ton of us think, but do not have the platform he does. I don't care so much if Trump is an ahole, as I am not just looking for a "nice guy" to be POTUS. I want someone who has the strength to face foreign leaders, protect children from the ABSOLUTE EVIL of teachers unions and federal alphabet agencies who are TREASONOUS against the American people.
.
Whether Trump will seriously address these things or not, he is the ONLY one, who does not give two F's about a political future and THAT is the biggest reason the Dem's TDS drives them to such hate.
