I was thinking about basic income and how the IMF just recently reluctantly came out and said maybe our neoliberal project has caused inequality and is a failure(after 1% of the world already owns half the wealth in the world and millions have been put into poverty of course). Now that they already brutally enforced this system upon the world and impoverished millions of people, they now admit it was failure. This leads me to believe they will start to push basic income in the coming years; people don't realize basic income is actually a neoliberal idea and not a socialist one. It's the neoliberal way to sneak in austerity because as soon as basic income is passed, they suddenly will begin to say why do we need healthcare? Why do we need social security? Why do we need retirement? Let's cut all of this stuff! And then they will say why do we need to raise the minimum wage?! Basic income will be used to justify all of their austerity cuts they want.

Our food production is only organized for what the market demands, which is growing big GMO crops and forcing them upon people or farming tons of cows because it's profitable for McDonald's to be selling cheeseburgers. It isn't organized in any way to prepare for crisis. Only a superior planned economy could deal with it because it'd be equipped to provide a massive organized effort of accounting for everyone, doing hydroponics and an indoor growing of food, water cleansing, etc, that can only be done under a centralized plan and a market economy can't deal with such a disaster because it turns disasters into bigger ones.
