Well, progress in weapons development. Progress in food distribution, not so much.

I feel bad for any Russian soldier coming home disabled. After WW2, the Soviets didn't like all these cripples hanging around, so they shipped them all off to Siberia (to die). I would expect something similar from Putin.
2
Yes I have had that thought too. If India, etc do agree to sell a few back, I hope they send them in terrible condition. (Sorry, the engines are a bit worn, and mice got into the electrical wiring.)
2
And, as I've said before - Jake has a great work ethic, even uploading a new program on Sunday!
2
They look like me trying to get up after I passed out drunk on the floor.
2
I bet, ten years from now, Ukraine will issue a postage stamp with Jake's visage on it.😎
2
@kyle-ld2gh Yep - both sides have a little house-cleaning to do on this one......
2
And in any case, hygiene products only represent about .0000001% of consumer expenditures in Europe. Sorry Europe - I just couldn't resist! 😛
2
Well, Putin is self-styled as a chess master, I can see where Kasparov might be a threat.
2
That's a reasonable concern, and not just because we're so divided. It's also that so many of our foreign adventures have been disastrous (ie Vietnam or Iraq, plus a lot of 'third world' nations are bashing the US for supporting Ukraine right now), that we're getting the helpless feeling that anything we do will make the world worse. It would be good if Europe could defend herself, so we didn't feel like it was all on us, and so that every war that came up wasn't automatically framed as a US imperialist adventure.
2
Oh, and slava ukraini!
2
Because Trump may get elected, in which case Zelenski will need to work with him. Also, maybe he's hoping to dampen down any pro-Russian sympathies trump might harbor.
2
I'll say one thing for those recruitment ads - they really make me sympathetic toward the Russian people! If the Russian government is willing to admit things are as shitty as they seem in these commercials, how much worse are conditions in reality?
2
TBH I would be scared to death to vote for anyone else if I lived in Russia. I suppose I would just sit the thing out.....
2
Many thanks! As I've often said, I am an Olga fan! (I know, it's kind of weird. Maybe more than kind of.....) But she looked so pleased and giddy! Her first foreign assignment! And an entire hotel to herself! Of course, I bet there WAS a commissar ten feet away, hand on sidearm.........
2
I am now picturing Chief Brody, not on a shark-fishing expedition, but on an oil skimmer. 'You're gonna need a bigger bag!'
2
Lukashenko is Putin's lapdog, but how much can he do FOR Putin without getting himself thrown out of office?
2
Ah yes, the Alamogordo Incident. The aircraft was supposed to deliver the bomb to Okinawa, but apparently had the worst navigator in the history of aviation and wound up dropping a nuke on the New Mexico dessert. The entire crew was denied leave for an entire month after that mess-up!
2
What are the Kremlin Muppets saying about Prigozhin? Jake hasn't treated us to any Skabayeva fotoage in a while - can we get Olga's take on this alleged development?
2
She is Armenian. She is an Armenian painted orange.
2
Maria Lvova-Belova sounds like the name of a porn star.
2
Yes, in the West we have a pretty sordid history along those lines. It imposes on us a moral imperative not to let that ever happen again.
2
Do you mean in the US? No, there is no requirement to vote in the primary elections (and really most of us don't.)
2
LOL! I think you mean Animal FARM. Animal House was a 70's movie about drunk frat boys starring John Belushi.
2
Olga likes bears? We should invite her to Yellowstone, give her a bag of meat, and tell her to go hand feed some of them. 'It's perfectly safe! They're so tame! Just big teddy bears! Scratch them behind their ears! They love that!'
2
Well, this IS a pro-Ukraine channel. When you have a political candidate who is so apparently anti-Ukraine, with a Veep choice who seemingly despises Ukiraine, wouldn't you expect Jake to take exception to that candidate?
2
Well, Denmark couldn't possibly see 300 years into the future. As to why the Russians are harping about a 300-year-old victory, perhaps somebody informed them that WWII was not single-handedly won by Russians, so they're having to reach further back to find some national glory.
2
@larswhitt1549 Well, of all the words of mice and men, the saddest are 'it could have been'.
2
Maybe Russian TV celebrating Trump's election by broadcasting a montage of Melania's nudes sturck Trump as disrespect?
2
No Olga today? Is she in the hospital with food poisoning after eating some bad kimchi?
2
Same way Putin became such a great comedian.
2
do you mean Cyprus?
2
@martinscheffler3866 Remember - if you are recognized as a Ruscist troll, you get sent straight to the front!
2
It was the same old Russian totalitarianism, but thy called it communism to make it seem new and stylish. Now they call it putinism. Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.
2
c'mon Jake! How about a Saturday Evening show? Or are the Russians retreating so fast it's impossible to keep up with coverage?😀
2
Soviet soldiers who were captured due to Stalin's incompetence were NOT treated well when they were 'liberated' at the end of the 'Great Patriotic War'. I doubt things have changed much.
2
When they start sending out babushkas in T-26s, we'll break out the Shermans.
2
All true, but he had all of that in 2022 before he decided to gobble up the rest of Ukraine.
2
He's happy - his current job keeps him well away from the front line.
2
Yep, a Russification operation. But, we will see if the newcomers are happy there....
2
I'm beginning to wonder about Olga - I suspect she kind of planned to move to the West if things went awry in Muscovy.
2
In addition to Jake's customary posting of the UMD's kill count at the beginning of each show, he's gonna have to start keeping a roster of Russian generals arrested, demoted, deported, or killed. But damnit! WHERE is my Olga footage? Where IS she? Is she on some bender with Margarita, and not showing up to work lately? Or did she panic and flee Russia last Friday?
2
Putin sitting in Kyiv is fine, as long as it's in the Defendant's seat.
2
When are the Belarussians going to get sick of Lukashenko? If they did decide it was time to give him the big adios, would the Belarussian military side with Lukashenko or the citizens? If Putin tried to shore up the Lukashenko regime, would that stabilize or just inflame the situation?
2
Watched the full Solovyev vid. 'Question to my tech staff: are you all f***ed up?!?' Well, they are Russians, so yeah, they've probably been into the vodka since breakfast.
2
I assume it's an agricultural area, so lots of little villages serving the local farms. A small store, a gas station, an Orthodox church, 5 liquor stores.
2
Solovyov gets uncomfortable when they talk about recruiting more young men to go serve in Ukraine. His own son is a long-haired blond bi-sexual model living the good life in London. Not the example the oligarchs want to set for young Russian men. And I bet he catches a lot of ribbing form his fellow Russians......
2
Do you see the torpedoes?
2
Are you addressing Vladimir Putin?
2
Yeah, the FSB's gonna have to have a word with her.......
