  4. I am really, really concerned about Olga Skabeyeva! We haven't heard from her in ages. There was recently a comradely gun fight in eastern Ukraine between Chechens and Dagestanis. On that same day, apparently, Russian propagandists were on site to make some sort of patriotic video about Russia's heroic warriors (I guess that film won't air any time soon). But I wonder if Olga was present, and maybe got caught in the cross fire? Where is Olga??? She is my favorite Kremlin muppet, and I miss her!

I don't think the grieving mother wants money; rather she just wants to know what the hell happened to her son, and she suspects that Putin is withholding casualty information for a number of reasons, including not wanting to pay out death benefits. (He and his friends probably already embezzled those funds.)

  11. Because Japan was an aggressor (just ask China) who had to be stopped. Ukraine is NOT an aggressor, despite Kremlin propaganda. US use of nukes brought around the instant cessation of hostilities; Russian use of a nuke, as Jake patiently explained, is just going to escalate everything.

  30. The reason Putin wants to cancel the V-Day parades is that traditionally part of the parade consists of people carrying portraits of relatives who died defending the motherland. He does NOT want a s**tload of recent widows marching through town with pictures of young men who died during Putin's SMO.

That's how I see it - since it seems impossible for Switzerland to help with military aid, if Switzerland could at least help with reconstruction (unless Ukraine loses, in which case the Russians can damn well pay for it themselves) that would be helpful.   49. There is a diplomatic solution to the controversy over whether the dissolution of the USSR was legal. Reconstitute the USSR, and give each of the fifteen members an equal vote in how the USSR should be run. (Or course, the Baltics, Ukraine, Moldava, and Georgia only need to woo two more republics over, and that's it for Putin and gang.)
