  2. Are you sure you understand how international trade works? The US designs high-tech products and manufactures advanced components, like semiconductors, in the US. China does the final assembly because it's inexpensive. Eventually wages will rise and another country will become the new China.

  9. The expansion of the war in Ukraine and direct military conflict involving the US in the Pacific and Gulf is solely in the hands of Russia, the CCP, Iran, and North Korea. The rising international powers of the East have the right to challenge US foreign policy and create an alternative to American economic, military, and cultural hegemony. The wrong way to go about it is using military and nuclear threats against an already militant, paranoid, and hyper-competitive US and NATO. Rather than a resurgent Kremlin Empire or the CCP, a German-led European Union or democratic and capitalist Indian Superpower are likely the most realistic alternative to an international order dominated by Washington.

  12.  @RS-vz8xd  That's the risk the world took by trading with China. The WHO doesn't have authority to overrule Bejing. If they asked to inspect CDC, without White House permission they'd be rejected as well. We know China wasn't transparent. They've never been. It was the same with the '03 SARS. The WHO's role is to report the information given to them. If China doesn't share, that's China's failure not WHO. There was a similar problem in the US during the HIV/AIDS crisis. We knowingly shipped contaminated blood products around the world, but no international agency had the power to come in and make demands of the Reagan Administration. The CCP is screwed up, but it's still a sovereign country, and rather than blaming WHO, the international community should confront China under US leadership.

  13. I can forgive the nonsense about Russia sanctions. Everyone makes foolish mistakes when they need cheap oil. Maybe the Indian government genuinely thought Putin is actually excited about Indian and China instead of desperately finding an alternative market. Regardless, I'm back on India's side. The CCP needs to be closed off from the international community, so it can deal with it's on delayed COVID-19 virus and pandemic, and rot and collapse from within.

  14. It's a flawed argument to claim providing arms and financial support to Ukraine will expand the war. It's been almost eight years since Moscow annexed Crimea and armed rebels to fight in the Eastern Ukraine. The war escalated without any military assistance at all because Putin is the cause. An appeasement strategy with Putin will put the continent at the highest risk of total war.

  15. Belarus is in no hurry to enter the conflict. Ukraine is the most deadly place on earth with a formidable armed forces and NATO weapon systems. The economic warfare and battlefield intel from the West should be enough to deter Belarus. If Putin forces them to join, they should not make the same mistake of underestimating Ukraine.

You think the CCP will risk losing access to the EU market like Russia has done? The EU is too big to be bullied by Beijing. US-China diplomatic relations are already at their lowest point, so I doubt they'd risk the possibility of the EU becoming as hostile as the US and Anglosphere.

  31. Just say that you're clueless on international affairs and geopolitics than try to pretend you understand the strategy on why India matters. I'm not Indian either. I'm an American. We don't have a colonial past with India, so there no reason to pretend to give a politically correct answer. The reason we help them now is because we will need their help to confront China and isolate them. It's not only an act of charity. We have our own self-interest. Other than for our own benefit, we're civilized, rich countries. You'd have to be a heartless, barbaric fool to not help India when they have hundreds of thousands of doctors working in English-speaking countries to keep us alive and healthy. Long story-short, let the Prime Minister speak on behalf of the British Government. You only remind people of what's wrong with the West.

The advanced semiconductors, microelectronics, raw materials, and sensitive components are designed and partially fabricated here and from a global supply chain. The US conducts freedom of navigation patrols on behalf of our business interests and the allies in the region. US-China relations have deteriorated to cold war hostilities. A lot of the economic policies and military drills in the Pacific will change to reflect the new relationship.

  46.  @hecticunit  That would be a great plan to surge the Ukrainians numbers, or give them the offensive weapons to eject Russian troops from the Donbass. A long-term strategy to rebuild and revitalize the weapons-manufacturing industry that existed in Ukraine during the Soviet era would make them less reliant shipments and NATO weapons and ammo supply chains and logistics. Putin is playing the long game, and waiting for the West to get bogged down with war fatigue or wary of discontent from the inflationary and economic pressures of supporting Ukraine for years. Ukraine has the manpower. They need the industrial capacity to manufacturer their own weapons and ammunition (inside or outside of their country), and have access to sell their grains and export natural resources to bring back national income. The ultimate goal of supporting Ukraine to victory is 1) the weakening of Russia's influence and war-making abilities; and, 2) recovering military and economic aid by rebuilding the Ukrainian economy and having access to a new market of 45 million pro-US and pro-UK consumers in Ukraine.
