So far, Putin's only clear success has been with the currency -- he proved, without any doubt, that Western financial interests cannot destroy the Russian economy using decrees and papers written in poisoned ink. Thank God for everyone on Earth that he did succeed in that (Greece, take note! China and India certainly have). Even that success was ultimately undermined by the criminal sabotage of the Nordstream pipeline. Why don't we all admit that overall, this WAR has been a disaster, for all concerned? Putin was wrong not to try to avoid this, first by calling an emergency session of the UNSC, with proof -- which he had -- of Ukrainian troops planning another, more massive offensive against the people of the Donbass. That was the only ethical course, the only place to start. He DIDN'T start there. No free pass on that, sorry. Never. How can anyone excuse not doing everything possible to avoid this WAR (not "special intervention," my GOD). Every war that can be avoided, MUST be avoided, paraphrasing Chris Hedges and many others. The sane ones, the ones with hearts, minds. To fail to do everything to avoid a war during a pandemic, just when people were looking forward to a more normal spring, was unconscionable.

  22. More and more of the world's people, through their governments, are clearly siding with Russia. How are the US and other NATO countries reading this? What message are they getting?? I can't fathom it. The fact that Putin should not have invaded when he did, as long as alternatives to escalating the war were still available, argues more strongly for the West having become anathema to many people. No one will consider giving the West support, or any benefit of doubt, even when they did have a point in their favor, such as it was, when this escalation began. What will happen when the US embarks on their next big adventure?

I think they want to "lose" --- they want their opponents to be the ones holding the bag when the dollar implodes and wars escalate.
