Cue the reliability jokes…jk jk. FCA (and Alfa specifically) has their shortcomings, for sure, but what I love about them is they see the value in approaching cars with a fun, enthusiast-oriented mindset much more so than many other automakers. They know who they are and what they do and they don’t try to be everything to everyone. Not necessarily a mindset that lends itself well to sales and profits, but it makes for far more interesting and enjoyable products.

15:35 That’s still me at 22😂 I’ve actually met quite a few car people on bike rides around here.

First time I ever tried driving stick was in my friend’s dad’s ‘64 Beetle. Only messed around with it for like a half hour, but boy that thing was hard! There’s definitely a tricky line to walk with classics between preserving and enjoying them, between taking care of them and stretching their legs. The relative lack of technology and electronics really recalibrates your mind and tests your abilities. What I wonder a lot is what the classics of the future will be and what we’ll view as vintage years and years from now...possible next video?

On the second day of Christmas, my Tedward gave to me Two Karmann Ghias And a 250 in a pear tree

@papa_pt True, but that’s far less of a bad thing in my book than in many others’. Unpopular opinion, tho.

Manual compact daily drivers for the win! Love driving my stick Mazda3 hatch, even here in downtown Seattle, which is literally perched on a hill. Doesn’t handle quite like the new Civics do (primarily bc torsion beam rear), but I much prefer the sound and power delivery of an NA 2.5 to a 1.5/1.6T personally, and I was willing to trade some handling and a couple mpg’s for that. And at Lake Washington C&C, it still gets a few looks and questions here and there.

I think part of the enthusiast disconnect with Tesla is a generational thing. I’m 22 and I’ve only driven manual for about a year now. I haven’t even learned how to rev match perfectly yet. For enthusiasts around my age and younger, we’ve only just started getting behind the wheel of ICE cars, learning stick, etc. and yet they’re already being phased out. Yet for enthusiasts closer to Tedward’s age, they’ve already had years of driving experience with manuals, ICE’s, etc, which perhaps is part of what makes them more receptive and open to such transformational change. Maybe they’re more ready for something new in the automotive space.

NA 4 cylinders don’t suck! Big reason why I love my Mazda3 so much, especially with a manual! Power delivery is so much nicer and more responsive than a 1.5/1.6T

Last I checked, we don’t drive on paper! Totally with you that - specs never tell the whole story!
17
Oh hell yes please do! I’m curious what your impressions are of the normal ZL1’s 10-speed auto vs. the GT500’s DCT.
17
@ShaiyanHossain Fair point. Actually that’s probably the better analogy lol
16
Wow that editing tho! This could be a documentary intro! The beginning kinda reminded me of Stranger Things...almost like the 600LT was the mind flayer or something...maybe that's just because I just finished season 3 lol. Loved the way it progressed, too. I was mesmerized the whole time! Easily my favorite of your videos from a cinematography standpoint!

Our neighbors across the street growing up had one of these and 2 E Class wagons. Exquisite taste they had.
15
Fun fact - my vehicle dynamics professor in college was a career GM engineer before he started teaching! Reminding me a lot of his class in this video!
14
Happy Tedward is the best Tedward 🥰 More road trips please!
13
It’s giving major Nick Murray 911 vibes

Fun > fast 100%. What a coincidence that I was just rereading Slow Car Fast by Ryan ZumMallen. Great book btw for anyone who hasn’t read it. Also how’s the MCT in these compared with the current C63...big difference or nah?
12
It’s “an car,” in the words of Daily Motor! Honestly, if I got a Miata for weekend funsies, this is the kind of vehicle I’d consider as a daily driver. As cool as stuff like the new Ioniq 5 N is, I’d want an EV to be a comfortable, practical, inexpensive-to-run daily driver in my case, which this does quite well! For being in the position they’re in, Nissan’s making pretty dang good lemonade with the lemons they have.

I could get used to this Tedward quarantine content😂 I’m resonating with a lot of the same feelings. My parents also have the news on like allllllllll day and I’m also craving that in person interaction with friends, even as an introvert, but I could honestly get used to this whole online class thing. Just roll out of bed and fire up Zoom! Or just watch the lecture videos your professors post whenever you want. Kinda nice tbh. What’s next? BMW E92 M3 Grocery Run POV?

Sir Tedward His Royal Highness🤴🏼🇬🇧

On the fourth day of Christmas, my Tedward gave to me 4 Newcomb’s Ranches 3 R8’s A peek in Garage 42 And a Wilhoit Speedster in a pear tree

A Mustang in the same sense that American cheese is cheese.
11
Engineering class with Tedward! Now THIS is the kind of curriculum I wish we covered in my heat transfer and thermodynamics classes!😭😭

All about spreading the love! Totally agree that we gotta detach masculinity from manual transmission expertise. So stupid omg. Also, auto rev match in every manual car should be able to be turned off at the press of a button. Don’t make me go into sport mode or turn off traction control or any of that shit. Just. let. me. press. the. damn. button. Also, #respectthestickdrivingmoms

Those 850R’s are sweet! The Swedish FWD RS3s of the ‘90s! Also...fugazzi wtf😂😂
10
I can’t decide what’s more satisfying - that French toast or the belt straps on that vintage BMW😍
10
Lmaoooo. E36’s are hard to beat. I’d also say older Civic Si’s. Manual V6 Accords too.
9
“Leaks never get better”…don’t ask me how I learned that one😳 This makes me miss my E53 X5😢
9
Congrats, Uncle Tedward! 🥰 And hope the Lexus dealer makes it right and takes proper care of you!
9
Quick! Calculate the tension in every one of the cables given the applied force of the Unimog.
9
Happy to see you cheered up by this! You really do have such a special connection to these cars and talent in conveying and sharing those feelings with us. We love you!!! ❤

Imho the M treatment is just lost on these larger BMW’s, especially with how they’re driven like 90% of the time. Makes sense on a 2 or 3 series, but for a 5 series on up, an Alpina would definitely be my personal choice. Much better grand tourer with still plenty of handling chops, and aesthetically more my taste, especially in green with the multispoke rims.

Something something REAL MEN something something ‘MURICA bla bla bla…

5:25 It’s basically just a V12 Miata 💁♂️
8
2:05 learn to merge, people! Omg😠
7
Lol, look at the window switches in a previous gen Merc E Class. I think you’ll find they’re pretty familiar.
7
This is way more exciting than the Zoom lecture I should be watching. It sure is getting old at this point, but god I love that EJ25. Such a unique, unmistakable sound. Recognizable from a mile away! Sounds especially good with that Cobb exhaust. Also I hella feel you on touching your face😂
7
Coupe looks good, but I’d HAVE to get a cabrio to hear that V10 top down😛😛 Base vs. plus? Probably base since cabrio body style takes away the ultimate in handling capability anyway, and cabrio is likely better suited to the base’s character. Probably unpopular choices, but that’s just me🤷♂️ If I was goin’ balls out on the track tho, Plus coupe all day.

On the seventh day of Christmas, my Tedward gave to me 7 GLS’s 6 Equinoxes 5 GX’s 4 Grenadiers 3 M5’s 2 Karmann Ghias And a 250 in a pear tree

@TedwardDrives YOU’VE RUINED MY CHRISTMAS! 😢😢 Jk jk, glad you took some time for you. And 9’s my lucky number anyway 😊
6
Beach boys! 🏖️ Love all the vibes here! More coastal content, please!
6
Oh hey I know that car! Best birthday present ever! 🎉🎁🎂🥳
6
Wow what a guy! I'd sure love to be where he's at by the time I'm 21! Loved his insights into the racing scene. You've got yourself a new sub, Jackie!
6
Definitely miss cars like this that take skill to drive. Totally agree - that’s how you cultivate love and passion for a driver’s car. Sadly that seems to be getting less and less viable in today’s market. But at least there are still cars like this to appreciate.
6
As soon as I typed that I did have second thoughts lolol. I think 991.1 also makes a strong case for being the last of the NA models, considering the model lineup generally
6
Gimme a few - gotta get through the 11 GT86 videos in my sub box that just dropped first then I’ll come back to this.
6
The ghost of Cayman past...
6
Aggghhh I miss SoCal so much! You literally can’t run out of car things to do down there.
