@chico9805 supply to Taiwan in a war would basically be impossible. Any ship trying to reach the island would be sunk and any plane would be shot down. So unless the US plans to airdrop supplies with its stealth bombers, its gaurenteed taiwan is cut off.
1
the last time something like this happened in the US, the US wasn't hated by half the world. If SHTF tomorrow, expect Russia, China, Iran and every other country the US has attacked or threatened to jump in and start supplying arms and ammo to stoke the civil conflict in the US.
1
@gavinwang7886 chinese view the concept of 'nationhood' as a unit of civilisation. Which is totally different to the legal definition of a nation. This is what westerners don't get.
1
@Bilo the coming age of AI will essentially give authoritarians the winning combination of controlling the masses through algorithm. If all you ever hear and see is what they want you to see, it doesn't matter what you say or think.
1
@tjones44236 its got alot more to do with cost of living, you are basically unable to sustain a household under a single income and even if you could have a stay at home wife, its not financially managable for most people to have more than 1 child.
1
@tjones44236 thats the result of oversupply of credit for 30 years. Either let the housing bubble pop and crush the prices, or have the government come in and build social housing.
1
@roadbone1941 China is not planning to fight any land wars in the coming decades, it doesn't show any interest outside of some performative skirmishes with india over an old border dispute. The focus is largely in the Navy and Airforce which is primarily configured to go after taiwan and hold off any attempt by the US to intervein. In that respect the army will more or less be doing policing work at home to prevent possible unrest.
1
I bet he went to some tier 1 city, ofcourse he'll get that impression, but go deeper inland and you still see strong familial values and traditional beliefs, be that taoist, buddist or some mix of folk religion with a dash of marxism sprinkled in.
1
heres the kicker, china already has vast numbers of landing craft. They are converted civilian vessels. If taiwan's military is bombed back to the stone age they're not going to be able to even do the most basic coastal defense. This is was also how the communists took Hainan in the 40s despite having no navy
1
@Michaelw777.52 What are you even going to be shooting at them with? After the PLAAF and PLARF is done with taiwan nothing bigger than manportable weapons are going to be operational. China has no shortage of PGMs and recon assets, Any fixed emplacements along the taiwanese coast are going to look like the aftermath of Baghdad 2003.
1
lol that racist prick.
1
ya it is abit of an exercise in mental masturbation. No solutions were given except 'reject modernity embrace tradition' tropes.
1
I think with the rise of artificial intelligence, the CCP model is destined to finally win out. When the entire human animal is understood inside out and can be controlled at the neuro-chemical level. The very idea of revolution would become impossible.
1
Currently there just isn't an incentive for chinese people to rebel. What would they even replace the current chinese government with? They sure as hell don't want the clownshow that the US and european governments are right now.
1
@sinoroman meanwhile, US government is arresting its political rivals and armed militias are threatening violence against the supreme court
1
I think colonising the oceans and antarctica will happen long before space colonization happens. it just doesn't make financial sense not to expand offworld when theres plenty of space on the planet that is currently uninhabitable.
1
or you can spend 5 minutes watching normal chinese people do their thing on any number of chinese social media apps. its not north korea. Why listen to those two who dig through the internet to get the worse of the worst shock content to push an agenda?
1
I guess a future where china just chugs along and never takes over the world but and people are also too apathetic to revolt, doesn't make for a good video. Clickbaiters gonna clickbait.
1
@UteChewb If I spent all day saying negative things about the US and ONLY ever saying negative things about the US, even if they were all true would you consider that objective? You know FUD channels are a dime a dozen in the investing sphere.
1
@UteChewb yes, all he ever does is talk about how bad things are in china. And sometimes he talks about how bad things are in Russia too. If I didn't know better he's in the same camp as those Ukraine war bloggers who think Russia is charging into battle with WW2 handmedowns and are on the verge of being pushed back to Moscow. Yes just admit you're a campist. Don't pretend you're objective.
1
@UteChewb go figure you ran away, because you know Im right.

@UteChewb go figure you ran away, because you know Im right.
1
The ruling class? Almost sounds communist

Fascism is capitalism in decay - Lenin
1
less a religion and more a quasi political movement akin to Qanon.
1
@korakys the vast majority of former yugoslav citizens regret the breakup of the state FYI.
1
@korakys Thats because they dont have the means to reunify. Quite a different story if they did.
1
using the romans and greeks as an example also gives you insights on how democracies die. So far there is no know cure for populism and the diagnosis is always terminal.
1
really? So when china threw millions at the korean war and pushed the western coaltion back, that was a result of nobody willing to die for their country?
1
Xi doesn't have nearly the charisma or the public admiration to pull off what Mao did. The youth of china couldn't give a shit about Xi jinping thought because its just not that interesting or insightful. Much less start another cultural revolution.
1
America is not going to dissappear but americans will have to get used to the idea of being the 2nd or 3rd most powerful country in the world.
1
yes. Ukraine is basically a non-functioning country. It would have basically starved if it weren't for NATO money, arms and humanitarian relief.
1
he's constantly amazed how china seems to just keep going despite predicting it to collapse every year.
1
YES its happening to me too Bigtime.
1
@ronaldreagan5981 Worse still, a technocaust of that scale might perminantly doom humanity. Consider that all the easily available fossil fuels have been extracted. If humanity had to undergo another industrial revolution from scratch with the depleted resources of today. We might not be able to do it, and we will be forever stuck in 17th century style neo-serfdom.
1
the change is already happening, Xi Jinping Thought is already rewriting communism in china to be more conservative and nationalist.
1
omg china refuses to bail out its version of wallstreet during a recession? How horrifying.
1
Hes gonna get bullied so hard in 5 years when china overtakes the US economically.
1
star trek or starship troopers are overly optimistic. Try Judge Dredd or Bladerunner.
1
@cane6074 the aftermath of both world wars left more hatred and division after them than before. In all likelihood unless WW3 resulted in the complete genocide of all but one beligerant, the end result would just be a burned out world with survivors who vitriolically hate each other
1
For your prediction I think you're really off the mark. The war in ukraine is going to take years and probably end in a frozen confict ala, partitioning of ukraine. China will delay its move on taiwan and revise its strategy to be one of surviving sanctions rather than one of decisive victory. The US will hold elections in 2024 where both China and Russia will seek to disrupt and destabilise the american political landscape through subterfuge, ideally causing another jan/6 outcome. In a decade when china's new aircraft carriers and nuclear subs are operational and Russia has somewhat recovered from the current conflict, Thats when things kick off. By then china would have already overtake the US as the largest economy and feel confident enough to survive whatever sanctions the US can throw at it.
1
@whiteknightcat I wonder would china do a deal with Trump to wreck the US establishment by 'admitting' to collaborating with Fauci and Gates on gain a function research under the premise that it wasn't going to lead to a pandemic. Do a few show trails of people who were involved and pretend this was all a conspiracy by some traitors in the CCP with the US deep state. If such a thing happened, the democrats will never win another election and the US will look the other way when china takes taiwan.
1
kinda sad that Americans actually think China wants to take over the world like some cartoon villain.
1
Maybe. Looking at china from a western lense thats heavily distorted with propoganda doesn't give you an accurate measure of things on the ground in china. You know Douyin isn't banned in the west right? You can just look at people in china doing their thing.
1
thats a load of ahistorical fop. Actually read some chinese history. Chinese dynasties only collapse for all the reasons any state collapses, an inability to maintain power, foreign conquest or internal coups. There is no historical precedent of an actual chinese dynasty just toppling to spontaneous peasant uprising because leaders were 'immoral'
1
@TheFivegoodemperors Well yes it has, The uyghur seperatists are basically no more because the PRC was willing to put anyone even remotely affiliated with seperatism through re-education camps. This would never fly if it didn't have popular support amongst the chinese population.
1
@TheFivegoodemperors xinjiang seperatism is already more or less dead now that the seperatists have been put through re-education and the root cause for seperatism: underdevelopment, is being resolved.
1
What is decadence in the west? Someone who can grow up going through the public school system without paying a cent, claim disability over some newly diagnoised mental disorder and never have to work a day in their life.
1
This is all monsterous projection from deeply insecure westerners who think china is at all in the same kind of mess they are in. I've not seen any chinese people who hate themselves, hate their own countrymen or want the world to end Nearly as much as what happens in the west.
1
@Lusa_Iceheart the west is already screwed demographically because of migration. Theres no bouncing back, your civilisations for the most part have been so 'enriched' that it will take some truely barbaric practices to reverse it.
