"Talkin' about that Ford truck getting towed..." As if anyone watching the early release DIDN'T instantly know what you two were talking about!
5
@RainmanRaysRepairs Seriously Ray, some of these projects you work on are such long lasting epic sagas, they might as WELL be an anime...
5
....my OCD is NOT happy....
5
And to think, this ALL started with two craptastic Ranchero shocks we all told him he'd hate, but he installed them anyway, and it just snowballed from there...
5
Speaking of, how's that chicken coop of his coming? (asking for a friend)
5
I really hope it's not out of time; those Renault engines weren't exactly the most reliable, and if you've got a timing issue...
5
Customer actually does ALL the recommended services? BASPHEMY!!! Who ARE you and what have you done with our Rainman? DUN Dun dun
5
I like you put that! Technically speaking, you CAN compress a liquid, but you'd need a large industrial plant with lots of very expensive equipment in order to do.
5
How how how how???? (I am SO sorry, but I'm probably going to be ranting about this all day). Ray should know better, and we, as the audience always expect him to do better. In that vein, I would like to point out everyone has blind spots, buuuuuuuut.....how could Ray have SUCH a MASSIVE blind spot in his automotive knowledge???? How....how....how how how, HOW????
5
That being said, sometimes the manager would override this just to keep the customer happy depending entirely upon their purchase history. If it's some random off the street that has 1 or 2 things under warranty probably not going to happen but if it's been someone that's been shopping with us for years and years, that's a different story, and would be willing to make an exception on rare occasion. Even though it was entirely their fault.
5
I''ll betcha a dollar most people watching this knew it was too small just by looking at it... Don't worry, lots of tow truck drivers his age have that problem....
5
Glad to see the little one got All-Data working!!! 🤣
5
My '95 Z-71 was the SAME way! Except it had headers, so getting that number 8 plug out required a spark plug socket, and an open ended wrench because there was literally no clearance for anything else!
5
Protip: Flip the driving race so that both are facing the same direction instead of each other, that way, when it's get stuck down in the hub, you have a convenient lip you can use to gently tappy tap the old one out.
5
Ray does the job by the book because the vehicle cooperates; audience yawns, half of us tune out early Ray goes into a self described 'disaster in the making'; likes, subscribes and shares double in short order He DEFINITELY knows what makes for great content! Now if we could just figure out who that mysterious little blond girl is that pops up on occasion... 🤣🤣🤣
5
Also, GM has bank one on the driver side, not the passenger side like Ford does.

A lot of the older Nissan and 'Yota pickups from back in the 80's actually had 2 plugs per cylinder; it has to do with 'squish' and 'quench' areas inside the combustion chamber approaching the point of ignition in order to effect a more complete burn. It's somewhat rare, but is found on Japanese engines more'n anything.
4
"Dude, what happened to your GoPro, Hurricane Ian?" Ray droops his shoulders and head shakes "Nissan Versa...."
4
Hooooolyyyyyy ****, the NUMBER of times I've been in this sitch, growling in frustration, banging my head goin' 'Just you wait until I get back to the shop....'
4
On today's episode of "Seriously guys, I'm not making a sexual innuendo."
4
@thanos-t7l Warrantying a tool is a great excuse to get back on the truck!
4
When it comes to old and brittle plastic connectors, use a tiny micro-torch on the lowest setting at a distance to heat them up first, DC the electrical connector, and then bend the tab back into place before it cools. Doing this will also help to soften the plastic enough to ensure they don't break during reassembly. I don't know if anyone else does this, but is something I came up with on my own back in the day and have always used since.
4
Another thing you can try next time is after applying soapy water or grease (I woulda used white Lith but that's just me), you set the seal kinda in place and then saw it back and forth laterally a little bit while also pushing down to help work it down into the groove. Also been noting a lack of coffee lately....
4
@frankallen6459 The window motor is still going around in circles and thus 'rolling', so technically speaking, it still does apply. Granted these days it requires a BCM or three in addition to the switch, relay, wiring, etc, but 'rolling' is still accurate.
4
Protip: RTV and automatic trannys don't mix because bits and pieces of silicone can easily get inside tiny little hydraulic passages and cause major problems!
4
A lot of the pre-millennium boxers had the exact same problem. I always replaced them regardless as a matter of course because it was never a question of if they'll blow, but when! Not to mention, as far as head gaskets go, they're about as easy as it gets.
4
Welllll, crap.... I already ordered the bouquet online, sooooooo....enjoy the flowers? 🤣🤣🤣
4
tl;dr = Remember kids, new doesn't always equal good. Chineseium is baaaad, M'Kaaay?
4
"I got 4 plugs out but I don't want to say it..." HEEeeeey, we're LEARNING!!! I knew he'd hit that wall some day!!! 🤣🤣🤣
4
@RainmanRaysRepairs That's weird, I thought it was because people won't stop sending you cases of the stuff! Sometimes you let it slip yer running low and people send you so much, it overflows the storage closet! 🤣🤣🤣
4
You don't have to be Florida-man to do Jeep things, but it helps! 🤣🤣🤣
4
With clearances that small, I'm suddenly reminded why I prefer working on Class 8 trucks (semis)
4
Thank you for always hanging your calipers; a lot of guys out there don't understand this can cause internal damage to the hydraulic hose and make it blow out prematurely.
4
If you look closely, you'll note that just like a pipe wrench, the teeth on most channel locks are directionally oriented which is what Ray is talking about when it comes to 'proper use'.
4
@michaelmartin2276 This is exactly why an old friend of mine replaced the U-joint drive line in his lifted '88 F-250 with a custom built shaft using CV-Joints welded into place. Worked great, but replacing the joints cost a fortune....
4
I am constantly cringing every time he does that because the work bench he's using acts like a gihugic leaf spring. What he needs is a nice wooden bench secured to the floor/wall so it's square & solid.
4
I remember back in tech school ('95-'97) they had JUST introduced the smoke machine as a concept to the entire industry; before that, it was a can of starting fluid and your own ears.
4
REEEEEE UP YOUR ENGIIIIINES!!!!! (And yes, I meant re, not rev, hehe🤣)
4
"Just get a new truck!" As if massive chip shortages and supply chain issues haven't caused the automotive market to skyrocket. Definitely wait a few years to buy another vehicle if you can.
4
@RainmanRaysRepairs Well, if the old engine has a misfire because it's out of time... (Someone had to say it!)
4
@Travisthegamer22 Heater core, evap core, blend door motors, God, it really IS Pandora's box...
4
Arctic Cat "Just TRY to change my oil filter!" Ray "BRING IT OOOOOOOON!!!"
4
It's the design process itself that's the problem and the engineers designing the motor have no regard for the other ones down the line doing the exhaust, suspension, etc, & they have to cram everything in, working with what little room they have left.
4
The dash on those things are a TRIP! But absolutely brilliant from a manufacturing perspective because one dash fits both left and right hand drive.
4
On today's episode: Florida man learns why we don't use car tires on a trailer, a Sante Fe learns obedience, and Ray learns how to do Yoga....
4
Ray is a good teacher, unlike the tech supervising the rookie who did the work on the cobalt originally. Easy mistakes to make when you're inexperienced, but if the master tech doesn't catch them before they go out the door....
4
Upside down box, screwdriver & a sharpie!
4
Interesting. When I was a student, the hardest thing I had trying to understand was why my instructors insisted on drilling into our heads the fact that there is 'no such thing as a vacuum' & why. Decades later, I'm thankful for their persistence in ensuring we understood the true difference between high/low pressure areas and why it was so fundamentally important. Welllllll, that and trying to find the blinker fluid reservoir....never could find that fucking thing! 🤣🤣 🤣
4
And for some strange reason, every shop in existence has a magical portal to Narnia that EATS 10mm sockets...
4
That being said, it was hilariously entertaining, and will do well with the algorithm!
