Guilty verdict returned on Saturday after 22 minutes of deliberations. Ackerman sentenced to 45 years. Ruining so many lives.

It takes about a month to extradite. She won't win this fight and is trying to delay the inevitable. Her parents have hired the best criminal defense attorney in Jacksonville, fwiw. But I don't even think he'll be effective against the case they have based on Henry Tenon's testimony. They're trying her with her husband: he has a public defender. This ought to be very interesting - seeing if he'll agree to testify against her in exchange for the death penalty to be taken off of the table.

To those she will examine/cross examine on the stand, don't look at her face and don't give her the gift of your visible outrage. Same for those who love Charles and are in the courtroom. Mighty angels to you all.

Their neighbor Jamie gave powerful testimony for the state on Friday: the defense was in over his head. The judge, to the dismay of a few, let Jamie control the narrative. Hope that Jordan is convicted of murder and not a lesser charge.
19
He was at over twice the legal limit for driving. But that's beside the point that, imo, she's guilty of second-degree murder.
19
Underrated comment, bro.
19
@rickjames5998 Going full Karen and being that petty takes skill.
19
He's done more to help humans than folks can even imagine: this includes putting his life on the line daily. What's embarrassing are sofa ninjas w/Dunning-Kruger effect to the marrow.
19
Parents who don't care + guns in America. Nightmare in our society.
19
He had a right to object, but was way over the top. He also called Jorge a monster in his closing arguments. No need for that invective: it hurt his client.
19
Juries have a tendency to get it right. Let's hope it happens here with a guilty verdict.
18
And Markel's case and Shanna Gardner, too. Unreal to think of killing your children's father.
18
Please cover Rebecca Grossman.

These two podcasters are virtually the only ones I'm not embarrassed to listen to - well-spoken, intelligent, discreet and humble. (Big change from Murdaugh case.)
18
The judge seems informed, but I fret for anyone she faces in prison: just because someone is a prisoner doesn't mean they do not deserve protection from savagery.
17
Terrific witness. Hope her testimony is crucial to his conviction for Ashley's murder.
17
😂 Exactly. Her exalted sense of self may impede friendships in any arena. Just because folks are in jail doesn't mean they aren't keenly aware of the decency level in others. KR - and I'm definitely prejudiced against her because I think she's guilty - oozes untrustworthiness.
17
Glad you posted this. Thank you for the compassionate POV. An inordinate amount of couch ninjas in the comment section are full of the usual witless assertions, but with cruel thrown in. I realize there are a few intelligent podcast sleuths, but those are rare: everyone else without legal CV guessing at the guilt of the family is unconscionable.
17
When they give credit for jail time when it's a life sentence. Beauty. So many victims in her wake. 💔
17
Hoping that the sentence reflects the severity of her crime and that the princess factor isn't at play.
17
It's not about having an audience. It's about a fair trial.
17
Fact. (Petulance is unbecoming in toddlers: in adult men, it's insufferable.) 😂
17
Be that as it may, Maggie didn't deserve what happened to her.
17
@truthadvocacy Hope it's not too late for you to get help.
17
Reminds me of Ali Abulaban - just another abusive dude who wants pity and for the jury to suspend common sense.
17
Stalker. Not stocker. It makes a difference. Otherwise people putting groceries on shelves are suspect.
17
So do I. It's hard to understand how folks aren't seeing the evidence.
16
Lucky Friday the 13th for most of the people who've ever known Mr. Ferlazzo.
16
Imo, tough to feel for HP. She's on the biggest pity pot that exists without an iota of empathy or remorse for other humans or her behavior respectively.
16
Aww,Ted. Disappointed in you. Did you watch the trial? Can't believe you fell for a histrionic sociopath. Melody could've testified to all that 'truth' while she had the chance. Watch Scott's testimony.
16
I'm overwhelmed with sorrow and didn't even see everything the jury saw. There isn't adequate punishment... in this world.
16
Get used to being called a liar. That's his best trait. Hurry, justice.
16
You're right. Gonsalves needs more than legal help.
15
Her very experienced defense attorney knows better than to ask that array of questions, but they're in the deep weeds. Unfortunately, Austin was a compelling witness. In many criminal trials, the best prosecution witnesses are co-conspirators.
15
How can this not break anyone's heart? His life was over before he killed his mom. He was hurting animals way before - the signs were all there fgs.
15
It really was sad. The victim's Dad loved Brandon as a second son. No one saw this coming - or understood how it played out so monstrously. Fwiw, I don't mean to bring Nancy Grace style hyperbole to it. We lived near where it happened: guess it's impossible not to feel impact especially in a small community. Here's hoping that Aaron's loved ones find comfort in time. (And Brandon's, too.)
15
I think the overturned overturned conviction needs to be honored, but that's just because I think he's guilty.
15
Alcoholism is bad enough when folks aren't in collective denial. Yet the Murdaughs' sense of entitlement added to their cluelessness played into the worst case scenario... even beyond the boating tragedy.
14
Amazing to see that anyone believed her theatrical sentencing statement. The jury ruled out her son due to a few facts and she's the one who decided not to testify. Too much, too late, Melody. But we will send you one of these ---> 🎻 for the appellate court.
14
Yes. It'd be easy if evil wore a t-shirt.
14
Terrific judge. Good rulings - even one to sever, which made her lawyers happy. Yet they definitely don't need to be giddy just yet. Not at all.
13
"... one of two twins .." As opposed to three. Make him go away for life.
13
Very glad that the boys are with Eric's family, but does anyone know what kind of arrangements - if any - that they have about the boys seeing relatives on Kouri's side of the family? Can't imagine how difficult it must be since both her mom and brother insist that she's innocent, that her 'walk the dog' letter was fictive, etc. Justice is coming. Rest in peace, Eric.
13
She always looks angry. 😂
13
In a perfect world, Sarah Boone would be representing Murdaugh for his appeal.
13
Defense atty's breakdown could have opposite effect on jury, reminding them that little children lost their lives due to his client's behavior/choices.
13
Agree w/ flight risk. Without it, I think she'd have a much better chance.
13
Semantics at this point make no sense. Fighting for absolute justice is all that matters.
13
Eggert will be WH counsel any day.
13
I don't like when folks focus on physical traits: it's shallow. But there are times when the grotesque is seen in someone's face.
