We sadly live in an age where the truth is unwelcome. Trump's administration has had the highest turnover of key staff and the longest ever government shutdown. So "dysfunctional" is a pretty fair assessment really. Inept? Fair again I'd say. The big worry though is that after taking back control Boris will just hand it straight across the pond.

The constipated clown look. And I would have used another C word.
12
It doesn't solve anything. It just shifts the problem elsewhere.
12
@themoneyman8011 The country had its longest period of growth when Brown was Chancellor. The Iraq invasion was voted on in Parliament, and every Tory voted for it. Corbyn and a few others voted against. "political infighting and corruption, wasteful spending"? Most people would think you were talking about the Tories.
12
How can MPs vote on something that hasn't been scrutinised? That's just crazy. Plus the known issues like workers rights need to be amended. This was never a part of Brexit and makes a mockery of "Knowing what we voted for."
12
Odd how you are prepared to believe in a vacuous conspiracy yet utterly ignore the Cambridge Analytica situation. I wonder why.
12
It's not just America that has changed. Racist opinions that would have been considered extreme are now mainstream. NF types are now brazen in their attitude and can be openly offensive. I've seen this first-hand. It's just ignorant and vulgar. Trump is the linchpin of hard right belief, and I am delighted to see him fall.

@CaptainPlanetsBallBag . Are you referring to Venezuela being in dire circumstances these days? Sad really. They were doing quite well until the price of oil collapsed in 2014. It was especially hard on them as their economy was entirely dependent upon oil exports. Were you aware that non socialist countries were also hit? Nigeria was left almost broke and Russian GDP shrank by 3%. Saudi Arabia even ended up out of pocket by a billion, yet they still kept down the price of oil. Odd that. It was market forces that crippled Venezuela, not socialism. (Links and details available)

@jameswhiteley6843 . The fact remains that Rees-Mogg's own company have opened an office in Dublin, and their reason for doing so is to strategise against Brexit financial uncertainty. (This was stated on SCM's prospectus.) So hardly a great endorsement really.
11
Boris's pledges are all fart gas.
11
Capitalism is finished. We need a new ism.
11
@Greylobster How is it obvious?
11
Half of America is disgusted by Trump and his regime of lies. The other half whoops and cheers in approval. The world is being manipulated by Facebook and devious men. And this won't end well.
11
It's their hidden manifesto that concerns me, Why were they having meetings with American pharmaceutical companies? Why was the report so redacted? What are they hiding? I don't trust them one bit.
10
And their backs on reality.
10
For the many not the few is more than just a motto. So I'd definitely go with JC. A hardened capitalist would just hide the supplies and watch everyone else starve.
10
The ins/outs rights/wrongs aside, Brexit has been the most divisive and toxic period in our history since the civil war. And we are certainly not a United Kingdom.
10
No. 'The first duty of a member of Parliament is to do what he thinks in his faithful and disinterested judgement is right and necessary for the honour and safety of Great Britain." House of Commons pamphlet. End of argument.
10
Trump on way out. No trade deals with the US or Canada. It is beginning to fall apart. And Brexit reality looms.
10
A tenner on Carrie.
10
@johnathanpearson3203 . Pitiful remark. Have you noticed at all that the IRA gave up terrorism? How did that happen do you think? Peace is made by talking to the other side, by understanding and finding a way forward. And several politicians spoke to Adams and others. Even Conservatives. Google it, do some research. Get a little wisdom. It may even stop you from saying dumb things.
10
"What situation?" Really? You can't just shout "FAKE" at this one. It's already been stated that the data was then used to construct opinion manipulating statements, and that is clearly a corruption of the democratic process. Beware the true deep state!
10
Then sell your house and put all the money on a lame outsider. The odds are about the same
10
Have you worked out which way round the rifle goes?
9
@saxglend9439 . Including the ones that voted Leave? And just where has 9 years of Conservative rule taken us? A divided country. Multiple business failures. A constitutional crisis. And this Brexit farce. Wow. Impressive.
9
And yet the deniers will still call this fake. NASA has done a great deal of research on global warming and the evidence is irrefutable.
9
Trumpism is about to pop. And good riddance. MAGA hats will soon be filling every charity shop.
9
Perfectly put Alan. All they are proposing is a virtual border that would in essence be an unguarded back door into the UK. Brexit mean Bullshit apparently.
9
@Bodhi McClory-Preston. It is Boris and co that are making the demands. A fair playing field was set out in the withdrawal agreement that Boris signed but now wants to ignore. Barnier is now saying come back with a reasonable proposal or don't bother.
9
"Honour democracy" the Brexiters cry. Hmmm. Facebook fined $5 billion. Vote Leave fined twice for breaking electoral rules and exploiting private data. And now they want to prorogue parliament as the final kick in the bollox to democracy. This moneyed mafia are really desperate to have their way.
9
I detect sarcasm. You are not a true believer. I shall inform the Ministry of Dumb Ideas.
9
Good that they're honest about it. Leavers won't vote for them so it's almost as good as having a new referendum. Stay means stay.
8
Excellent! The sovereignty of parliament in action. This is what you wanted after all. HaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHa
8
The Brexit argument has descended into absurdity. A no deal wasn't easy so we'll say we never wanted it. We argued for WTO but even Trump now calls it a "rip off." We cried out for strong borders but don't want one in Ireland. We demanded sovereignty but now have to bury it. The country has gone to the dogs of populism. This is sinister and utterly wrong.
8
@plainenglish1774 . Ooh, caps lock. Is that an indication that you're angry but have no reasoned argument to offer?
8
Someone should tell the women in his electoral area exactly what he thinks of them.
8
@lellyparker . That's the truth of it. A lot of Conservative voters put their trust in Johnson. How many of them will be regretting it next year?
8
Boris 4 PM. Boris means Boris. We just voted for a clown not for a skilled statesman. The bigots have spoken.
8
He did not imply a thing. He stated that Sadiq Khan and London were under Islamist control. That is an accusation. And he still has not backed it up with a shred of proof.
8
@Robert Townrow. What about getting Boris and co to sign a document saying they'll take full responsibility for a no deal? Something that makes them directly liable for people's mortgages and such in the event of job losses etc. Any deaths would also be on their hands with jail sentences attached. Look at it logically. If a no deal is no problem they should have absolute confidence in signing. This would also put our minds at ease and may even win some support. What do you think?
7
@MOH_AL_K Tice thought that Truss had the right economic strategy. How did that work out? What are Reform's plans for the NHS and employment rights? They'd be even more bonkers than the Tories.
7
Point 1. "Technological solutions to keep supply chains operating smoothly." So basically we have six months to implement a computer system that doesn't exist yet. Hmm.....NEXT!
7
Just reporting the facts. Would you prefer BS?
7
@May4th. Have you been turned to the dark side? And how could Channel4 present this story in any other way? What is the other side of the story? Do you think that Cambridge Analytica are somehow an altruistic organisation?
7
More chance of them making a run for it. All that Rwanda accommodation could be for them.
7
@nickbarton3191 Yeah. But I just liked the thought of it. No more Tories. Wonderful.
7
Yeah. I really believe him. And all this money will disappear again when a no deal takes us into deep recession.
7
To Err is Huma . Did Murdoch not make that statement? And the simple fact is that many people do download their opinions from the Scum and Mail. I could be standing in any Spoons tonight and listening to the same dumb slogans parroted at the bar. All just ready made opinions for the braindead. You may not be gullible but you think everyone else is. Hmmm. What's your angle?
7
Boris and co keep pumping hot air into the Brexit balloon. But it has to go bang eventually. Project Farce heads toward Halloween.
7
In 2016 many people voted Leave in good faith. They wanted change, to make the country a better place. But they certainly did not vote to make the country worse off. They did not vote to be poorer or to lose their jobs. They did not vote to have essential medicines brought in by emergency air drops. They did not vote for shortages and disruption. Brexit 2016 was like a glossy holiday brochure. But in 2019 there's still no hotel. No facilities. And no good reason to still go. Sorry.
