Yes! Before decades of RW hate radio and Faux News turned so many of our fellow citizens brains to brainwashed mush.
3
I love how Thom strips the founding fathers away from the theocrats and economic royalists (as FDR called them.) and place them in their proper place with the ideals of social and economic activism. The founders were children of the European enlightenment, they would be in no way on the side of the US radical right. The teabagger theocrats actual ancestors are the puritans. (witch burnings) And the plutocrats ancestors are the kings of old Europe, (let'em eat cake) NOT the founding fathers!
3
Enough with the BS for more trickle down/ scam Reaganomics Dr. Ruhr. 32+ years is enough!! I'm ready for some demand side for a change.
3
They know demographically the numbers are not on their side and that those numbers are gonna get worse as their old Faux-News watching, RWNJ base continues to go into the ground. So there gonna fight ruthlessly to stay in power.. Democracy be damned!
3
So understandably, the anger at the rich today in general is understandable. Especially as many corrupt and destroy representative democracy by buying off governments, kill off good paying jobs and replacing them with crappy Mcjobs, Wreck the environment with not a hint of regret and all at the same time insist we worship them like some sort of Randian hero... and give them even more power and to tell those suffering due to their savagery to just shut up and just deal with it!
3
Hmm, No surprise to me.. That's Berliner's for ya. 😏 It's a very progressively minded city.
3
Market forces are good for many things especially commoditable goods, but there are some elements of society that they're not only poor at delivering but downright evil in their incentives! DX
3
They'res a reason I call Reagan the senile crook. He fed the boomers a bunch of über-selfish claptrap. Exploded our debt and gutted our manufacturing economy, let the speculative financial sector sector take over and most importantly destroyed our ethics for saving and replaced it with wasteful, short term consumerism all built on credit and debt. Germany rejected all this crap and thus is why they prosper today Screw Reagan,Thatcher and Friedmanite Anglo-Saxon model capitalism!!!
3
@carycunningham9510 Well informed response. 👍🏼 I don't trust the police in this situation either. However, do you think the military would actually openly put down these Fascist paramilitary groups if mass violence erupts? Could the military spilt into two factions?

Back when Citizen United passed I remember ABC World News had a small minute or so segment on it. Before going right back to the incessant 'fluff stories' they now waste over half of the program with.
2
TN is an annoying far right state, yet amazingly we have a sane moderate Republican governor. (Yes, they do exist.) However, the state house in Nashville is loaded with Teabagger cretins who embarrass us on a regular basis. As for AFP in TN and what they pulled against expanding Tenncare... Just two words... Fuck... You...
2
JD00720 I put 'FULL!!' responsibility on him and his ilk for wrecking the American dream for the middle class, causing the 08 crash and finally making it that the millennials are the 'first' modern American generation to have a 'lesser' standard of living than their parents!! It was foolish and asinine to think that the greed, selfishness orgy of the 80's-90's wouldn't have consequences!!... A warning to the dangers of mindless short-term thinking and the immature belief in instant gratification...
2
+TheSpiritOfTheTimes Well said... The religious right are the brainwashed footsoldiers of the American plutocracy! Their crap dogmas have "Nothing" to do with Jesus or the Bible and everything to do with protecting the parasitic, sociopathic, corporatist elites that have taken over the US and our government!
2
+barbtube01 Yep, I'm absolutely certain Fred Koch was a fascist symapathizer if not a full blown supporter of it. (Mussolini and Franco)
2
Cause these crooked plutocrats never instended to creating the utopian free market society that their drones never shut up about. It was 'always' about creating a comfortable crony capitalist system from day one, Unfortunately those who've had their brains fried by the utopian, market fundementalist bunk propogated by Hakek, Rothbard and Mises will 'never see this.
2
+SingleCrystal Agreed Ike belongs on that list! He supported social democracy and called out the corrupt plutocrats who wanted to destroy it. Also, I'll add the economic system he supported in the 50's, was light years ahead of the Soviet bloc countries. Hence, the Cold War, in terms of the war of ideas, was won from the very beginning...
2
Cause the GOP is still strongly tied to the old, bigoted scum of the christian right and the Dominionist movement in general. When enough of those stupid, old buzzards go in the ground and they are no longer a strong voting block for the GOP. The Republicans will finally jettison those assholes. I look forward to that day! And it is destined to happen as millennials are leaving the church in droves today and want nothing to do with these cretins or their shitty ideology!!
2
Which shows hideously far the American spectrum has been pulled to the right.
2
Gatlinburg TN? Oh god - (puts bag over my head)
2
euroclyde Yep, marching boldy into a 2nd gilded age. (yuck!)
2
+James Travers It's a nightmarish end-game scenario and I pray to God it "Never!" happens... But at the same time, let look at the best case scenario... If Bernie were to win and we get two to three strong progressive SCOTUS judges and they rule against Citizens United or even better; we get an amendment added to the Constitution that fully destroys the concept of corporate personhood and corporate free speech rights, Then we'll have the oligarchs finally restrained and under control and most importantly, their influence would be severely diminished in Washington... I just wish there was a way afterwards to deliver a final death blow to their entire ideology and evil, sociopathic agenda!
2
Uhh... I can't believe I used to believe in is fundie bunk!
2
Iceland did the correct thing years ago... While the rest of the world let the banksters inflict never ending austerity on them.
2
joe jarden I would mind seeing that list, and yes Gould was a serious A-hole! However, I think Henry Frick, Carnegie's thuggish 2nd hand man was even worse.
2
But, Trump is against TTP and NAFTA.. So he's a bit better than the senile crook..
2
Yeah blame 'him' and all these Libertardian so-called think tanks for pushing that hyper-selfish nonsense!
2
Which is why over the decades, The Kochs and their similar ilk have spent billions and set up dozens of RW 'non'-think tanks to reverse this... To get us to think that their lying, hypocritical, sociopathic, plutocrat worshiping BS is pure blooded americanism. And that the New Deal consensus was an unamerican socialist/ communsist anomaly that needs to be wiped out.
2
True, but Reagan was 'far' worse.
2
They bitch all the time about moochers, then go and mooch themselves. Then, RTW for (less laws) allow these people to mooch off union benefits and not have to pay a single cent to the union for providing those benefits. I mean talk about something for nothing.. Republicans and especially teabaggers are such flaming hypocrites to their own 'no free lunch' ideology!
2
BramSLI1 This kid lost me, when he mentioned that crank Mises... The most elitist and wingnutty of all RW libertarian/ propertarians. Mises worked for fascists for petes sake, and the only reason he denounced fascism was when Dolfy and his anti-semitic cavalcade rose to power in Europe. (He 'never' had a problem with the corporatist Dollfuss regime.)
2
Pope Francis is seriously making me wonder if I should become a member of the Catholic church? However, I love how he making the millions of hypocritical, greed worshiping evangelicals and RW catholics squirm About time someone called out the (in name only) so-called christians.
2
+john carlisle That bill in NC was beyond vile!! And hopefully, it'll get repealed. However, I smell ALEC's evil fingerprints all over this debacle!! But this is the consequences when Dems constantly skip out on the midterms. You get the teabagging scam-bag infesting your statehouse who constantly will pull shit like this!!
2
Yep it's a scam! But a scam that benefits the plutocrats at the top immensely!! Which is the reason they 'refuse' to let it die... DX
2
sgf129 The history of the organized Christian religion in a nutshell.
2
Gordon Bradley Combining Christianity with Ayn Randian selfishness is a has nasty results!
2
sevven1 Exactly, We want to destroy this rotten plutocratic system... and get disgusting assholes like the Kochs and their cronies OUT of our government!
2
+Raven W I'll go with heavy regulations. And fuck all the RW morons who still propagate in this crooked, self-regulating, horse shit!!
2
Talk about some serious trolling. However, I definitely understand that a foster child is a lot safer physically and mentally in loving LBGT household than with a bunch of hateful Tali-baggers!
2
Art Pope.. another thug plutocrat that needs a dirt nap!!!
2
***** Nothing repulses me more than how sociopathic, greed, worshiping social darwinists have become the mainstream image of American Christianity.
2
Don't ya hate how every single one of these crooked little pro-corporate clubs and think tanks, 'always' have to have the words 'freedom' or 'liberty' in them? George Orwell would have a hayday with these greed worshiping cretins!!
2
rollofnickles "Sen. Sanders is the antidote to Neoliberalism." Yes! Yes and Yes!
2
Fascinating! Just a few months after the Titanic, the first writings about the processes of climate change were made. I thought that science in the Titanic era, was nowhere near making such hypothesis?... Nope, Uh.. I was wrong.
2
Rand Paul would 'never' get the votes of the theocratic Christian right base, thus he could never attain the GOP nominee.
2
A good chunk of this nation has some serious mental issues. Even when all the evidence, points to the fact that private interests are the culprits for corrupting the government. American right-wingers will still blame the government for corrupting itself? (Oh sure the government forced these noble bank(st)ers to take the bailout money.) No matter, what the issue they'll blame the 'government' for everything. It so juvenile. I sure as hell do not blame the private sector for every woe known to mankind.
2
Yuck, more like a corporate totalitarian state. It amazes how these vile plutocratic cranks completely pervert/ destroy the words, freedom and liberty.
2
This is the same story that was on 'The Real New's' channel, except without all the nasty teabagger trolls.
2
I love Disney... but I don't like their neoliberal labor practices.
2
Originally a Keynesian model Brenton Woods organization; it along with the World Bank and IMF have been turned into the cops of Neoliberalism and Corporatism. Working to make sure nations and their citizens do not succeed in implementing consumerist regulations and protections that go against Neoliberal, Neoclassical economic dogmas... The WTO can fuck off!!
2
***** oh Lovely... I swear whenever I see or hear RW wingnuts fawning over this crook I want to reach for a barfbag. Destroyed our economy and society in the name of bratty instant gratification.
