The accuracy of a scientific theory is indicated by its ability to make reliable accurate predictions, not simply explain known facts. Science is not just collecting facts; it is deducing the underlying mechanisms and developing theories that will accurately predict what will be observed.

  45.  @Bok2022st  You think the plane would fly upside down by as it heads south; that puts down as skywards. If the ground (and therefore “down” ) is under your feet everywhere then that answers your question; the underside of the plane always remains facing the ground on a round planet.
