A country that relies on food imports MUST have the best of relations with its neighbours, AND it must have compelling exports even during international crises to balance the trade deficit. Brexit has destroyed both of these prerequisites. If the Tories persist with this course, the UK is doomed. Dreams of the UK making it alone in the world are pure madness. Aggressive nations MUST first be self-sustaining.

  5. When your AG advises you to break the Law, it is time to get a new AG. In general, breaking the Law will not get you very far. Unless you are strong enough to twist the other's arm. Considering how well Putin is doing with that, I am actually looking forward to Bozo having a go twisting the arm of the EU. That would be great entertainment. This also shows the value of that line "I got legal council".

  7. Countries where photo ID is required to vote, have (or should have) a requirement for all adults to carry such ID at all times. I know mine does. In that way, the poorer people are not disenfranchised because they are required to have that ID anyway, not just to vote. So this is indeed something that can easily be fixed. Putting the Electoral Commission under government authority is the end of democracy. We can no longer consider the UK a democracy just because of that law. The UK is now officially an authoritarian country ruled by an oligarchy.

As Phil said in a previous video, in 2014 Tory warned that if they voted for independence, they would be thrown out of the EU. Only to throw them out of the EU anyway a few years later.

  18. You are reading the EU very well. It is not just that the EU politicians are fed up with Bozo, it is the EU people as well. Many EU citizens are calling for harsh measures against the UK. Bozo is generating some real anger here, with his continuous insults. Something EU populists might take advantage of, so it needs to be taken seriously by the moderate politicians. A lion might ignore the taunts of a mouse for some time, but at some point he will put a stop to it.

  19. I share the sentiment, but on a whole, Brexit is a net loss for everybody. The UK, selfish and ignorant it was, did provide some value to the rest of the EU. There are no winners in Brexit -- except the top 0.1% in the UK who are making money out of this.

  22. Looks like it. A PM should never be allowed to operate independently from Parliament. If Parliament lets him, it yields its sovereignty to the clown. And that would be end of story for the foreseeable future. However, his dictatorship would be short lived. The economic disaster that is Brexit will make sure of that. People will rise up because they will have no other option. And from the ashes of a broken England, a new, modern nation may arise.

  24. As Phil said, you can threaten people with their career prospects within the party, but you can not hold their constituents hostage by threatening to cut public funding. It is illegal. And about Trump: he should be behind bars right now. His quid pro quo was also illegal. The fact that he isn't behind bars shows that the USA has drifted very far from its lofty ideals. A former French president was thrown in jail for doing such things a few years ago, so no, corruption is not normal. It is only normal when the People get complacent, as they have in the UK and the USA. Both are in real danger of loosing their democracy, instead becoming demockeries. Like Russia or Turkey. You want to be ruled by a fraud like Putin or Erdogan? Who will rob you of all dignity, bankrupt your country and kill progress? Selfishness (of which corruption is a form) always tears down a nation, so that all suffer (including the elites). Willingness to share & help people that are worse off lifts a nation up, so that everybody is better off, including the elites.

The UK government should have invested heavily in container handling facilities, and informed business doing trade with the EU that they need to start shipping containers instead of lorry loads. If they had started with that in 2016, all this could have been less painful. They would still have needed a boatload of new HMRC officials...

Companies can only take so much before the collapse, so for many UK businesses, the smallest additional setback will cause their demise. In the EU, companies have many more resources to handle disturbances. A vicious circle of collapsing companies has started that will destroy, and I mean destroy, the UK economy.

It would inform the people, get them more interested in politics, lessen the gap between politicians and voters, etc. And electoral reform is the ONLY thing that can save the UK. Otherwise it is just a matter of time until the Tories get an absolute majority again and tear everything down quicker than Labour can rebuild it.

Brexit is slowly teaching the English people that they need the co-operation of the other European nations to survive (long term). That is the final step in development from juvenile Independence / abusive bullying to adult inter-dependence. Until they make that step in development, the English economy will continue to spiral downward. As there is no-one who can stop that spiral except the English themselves, they have a choice to either sink or swim. Obviously, the UK is no longer viable. The English are too blatantly abusing the interests of the other nations for their own benefit. My personal expectation is that the UK will dissolve rather quickly (a couple of years), and that the English economy will continue to spiral down. At some point they will enter hyper-inflation with government debt out of control. This may take a decade or so. Then, finally, there will be a different government. They will ask the IMF for help. The IMF, not being dummies, will co-operate with the EU for a rescue plan which will include political reform, abandoning the Pound, and membership to the Customs Union & Single Market. The political reform will include proportional representation, which means English politics will finally grow up, and there will never be a Tory government again.

Its inhabitants are little better than slaves who live in constant fear of their oppressors, without most of the modern amenities we take for granted. Is that a future you want for England? And also, North Korea has a good friend in China, which out who it would have collapsed long ago.

Our government had extensive campaigns to prepare businesses and people for the original Brexit date of, what was it again, 30-3-2019? We have been waiting for almost 3 years now for the UK to actually Brexit. What was that campaign slogan again? Get Brexit done? Looks like the oven-ready deal is getting over-done.

Brexit did not come about because of the Tories, but because no-one could mount an effective attack on its lies, being shouted down by the media. The UK will have to go through a de-sensitisation program. First step is to get rid of the right-wing propaganda media. Obviously, that is illegal in any democracy, so what is needed is a concerted attack on those media, pointing out their lies, and shaming anyone who consumes them. This will take a lot of time. Auntie Beep also needs to be cleansed of Tory arse-lickers, preferably by exposing their failure to adhere to basic journalistic integrity standards, and publicly shaming them for it. For the BBC, presenting a biased or unbalanced narrative should be a firing offence.
