In 2019, the majority of the UK voted AGAINST Brexit, the Tories only got 45% of the vote -- but due to the undemocratic peculiarities of the UK voting system, they got a majority in the house. So your statement is demonstrably false.

The only reason I would consider setting up in the UK is when they start ticking some other boxes: - Willing to pay considerable bribes - Willing to hand out huge government contracts without a bidding process - Willing to forgo tax, financial and regulatory scrutiny - Willing to give huge tax breaks for executives - Access to the black market - Facilitates money laundering Who cares about integrity when you can grift billions out of government's coffers!

  13. You misunderstand the Brexiteers. When they said "Take Back Control", they meant: "Take Back Control From The Plebs". They never meant "Take Back Control From The EU". Because the EU is strongly supportive of the working classes, the two were synonyms in the mind of Brexiteers. Not in the minds of voters, but Brexiteers don't care about that.

The problem in the UK is not that there are different classes. It is that the lower classes believe the lies that are spoon-fed to them by the upper class. If the lower classes started to vote Labour, things would get better real quick. Sadly, Corbyn was a really bad leader. That prick could have prevented Brexit without the 2019 General Election, if he had co-operated with the other opposition parties. But he wanted to become PM himself... I still don't understand why Labour was not dead-against Brexit in 2016. Everybody could have foreseen that the lower and middle classes would bear the brunt of the Brexit costs.

England will go bankrupt, and take the rest of the UK with it. That little ditty Phil had about an "exodus" from the City, he wasn't kidding or exaggerating. It even has a timeline. The main source of income for the City will be cut off by mid-2025. The longer you dither the harder it will be.

  26. Also, the main goal of the EU is to reduce red tape. It's reason for being is to make trade so easy that it would make wars economic suicide. Or to try to get out of it... The British media & politicians didn't tell you that, but that doesn't make it less true. It seems the average Brit is totally ignorant about why the EU exists.   27. Raab was being especially despicable yesterday. His replies to Blackthorn were the worst I have seen yet. There he is, sounding perfectly reasonable, but on second thought he is basically saying: "We won't help Ukrainian Orphans even if it causes us no bother at all, let them sod off". This would have been a great opportunity to grandstand actually doing something and being humane and helpful, but he refused to take the opportunity. Shame, Britain, for letting such excrement in power.

But simply ask yourself how you would feel if you believed the lies the Tories are spreading, and your company went bankrupt, and you could no longer pay your rent. You would want to get even with the evil EU, wouldn't you? You would demand your government take harsh action. Now multiply that sentiment by tens of millions, and you have a powder keg waiting to explode. Similar situation is now enfolding in the USA, where a good part of the population actually wants a civil war. The world need to learn how to deal with the lying media that incites this hate and anger.

  30. The UK (or England, after it breaks up), will need a thorough thrashing economically before they can learn the right spirit. Then they need to put action to words by (finally) adopting a proper constitution for a modern, democratic government. Then, they will finally be ready to get on their knees and beg for admittance to the EU. I guess it will take some 25 years.

Blair did much better than his opposite number would have done. All too often people try to put Labour in the same category as the Tories. However, Labour is actually doing its best to improve the country, whereas the Tories are actively destroying it, starting with Thatcher (or even earlier). It is just that the Tories are very good at blaming Labour for things they did not do, so good that it even affects people who should know better.

Severe economic hardship has a tendency to shape a nation for the better. The English are in for a humiliation of Biblical proportions, and I see no way for them to escape it. Even if Labour were voted into power now, they could not quickly stop the developing disaster, it would take decades to undo the worst of Brexit. Only a miracle can save the English. I do believe miracles are possible, but they generally require a change of heart.

  37. The UK will never rejoin the EU. It might be allowed back into the Single Market, but only after a great deal of repentance and with the hardest of guarantees, submitting in full to the authority of the EU. All of the rules, none of the influence. I don't think the English will ever accept that. After the inevitable break-up of the UK, things will be different. Scotland will be allowed membership pretty quickly: we like the Scots. N.I. will simply join with the RoI. England, however, is another matter. Their Xenophobia, Stupidity, Parochialism, Selfishness and the offensive, rude, dictatorial and belligerent politicians have pissed off the European voters. It will require massive political, economical and social reforms before being allowed back in. That will depend on how quickly the required reforms will take place. My bet is it will take a generation.

  38. Excellent point not to get bogged down in fights of semantics. Important points at this time are: a). the EU is being more than reasonable with the UK in spite of UK media reports. b). UK economy is going to crash hard with a no-deal Brexit, much harder than the EU economy. c). International confidence in the UK will be destroyed by reneging on the withdrawal agreement.

  40. Well spotted that Bozo is mistaken about what you can and can not do with A16. Somehow the Gammons think it is like A50 of the EU treaty, and that you can just cancel the whole thing by triggering it. It is not. A16 is ONLY applicable when the Protocol "leads to serious economic, societal or environmental difficulties that are liable to persist, or to diversion of trade". If Bozo can not clearly indicate one of those issues (and he can't after the recent EU proposals), than he is not permitted to invoke A16. So, the clown is bluffing and spouting more hot air.
