Absolutely true. When living in Scotland in the nineties, I couldn't bear reading tabloids because of all the anti-EU nonsense in them. The anti-EU campaign had been going on at least twenty years by the time of the referendum. This has affected the mindset of people living in the UK more than they dare to admit to themselves. I regularly catch even remainers with preconceived notions that are the result of this propaganda campaign and have no relation whatsoever to reality.

Most religious people are much more rational than Brexitards.
6
Does this surprise anyone? This will not change until another exporter to the UK, e.g. China, makes a complaint on basis of the "most favorable nation" rules.
6
Looks like 1984 picked a date about 40 years too soon.
6
I expect a massive brain drain from plague island. I know I would not want to stay around for what is coming. I expect fighting in the super markets with perhaps even a few deaths before rationing is finally implemented by this do-nothing government.
6
All these machinations sound quite interesting. I am sure someone will make a movie out of this! Question is, will it be a comedy or a psychological thriller.
6
@frankieseward8667 Can't come soon enough. May he rot in Hell, for all the misery he has caused. That man is pure evil, and it seems one of his sons is as well.
6
Well, EU drivers won't cross either. No fun driving in xenophobic plague island, getting stuck on the motorway and having to pee in a bottle. Guess we will just pass your goods to the people trying to cross in dinghies.
6
The EU is simply going by the book, taking the UK more seriously than it does itself. Expect the sanctions to be textbook examples of how to undermine a rogue state.
6
In order to rejoin, you will need to get rid of the anti-EU media. That will be very difficult...
6
@mogznwaz Lay off the koolaide, PLEASE. The UK announced its intention to violate the contract it signed TWO MONTHS ago. And you think it strange that there is outrage? If you think the deal was a bad one, have a word with the one who pushed it through your parliament. Don't blame the EU: that would be immature.
6
@Jonnythebaker Reality, mate. Brexiteers in 2016 were on a massive deception campaign, helped by the right-wing propaganda machine. 2019 was an aberration due to the UK's flawed election system where a lost election (45%) can lead to a massive win in parliament. You may call that hindsight, I call that intelligence. In 2016 there were plenty of people who pointed to the dangers of Brexit and the lies of the Brexiteers, but they were drowned out by the propaganda machines.
6
In decades past, we drew conclusion on what was actually happening in the Kremlin from what was or was not reported in Pravda. I get a very similar feel now. Not a good thing for a country purporting to be a democracy...
6
Brexit may even cost some of you your lives. That is a sacrifice I am willing to make. -- Boris Bozo Johnson
6
Helping those who will help them.
6
Think about the confusion between Mercedes and Lewis Hamilton!
6
@awo4618 Brexit is not a leap into the unknown. Everybody with half a brain knew this was going to end badly. Very badly indeed. Brexit is a power grab by the ultra-wealthy who want to make even more money over the backs of their subjects, mainly by facilitating illegal transactions & trade.
6
My country, Netherlands, in spite of a shortage of some 300.000 houses / appartments, has created space for 25.000 Ukrainian refugees. In a situation where Dutch citizens may need to wait up to 7 years for a place of their own.
6
@garrywynne1218 The EU is still MUCH more democratic than the UK ever was.
6
The English forget that every other part of that "Anglosphere" has been brutally oppressed by the English in the past, with many genocides as a result (Scots, Irish, native Americans, Maoris, Aboriginals, (South) Africans, etc).
6
Brexit happened because no-one dared to explain facts to the people. They were afraid the anti-EU sentiment would cost them votes. Spine-less opportunistic politics got you in this mess.
6
@davidpowell6098 That is what Louis 16th thought...
6
Excellent analysis. The Magic of Brexit was that they purposely kept it vague, so they could make it out to be anything for anyone. But those who drove for it and determined its contents wanted one thing only: taking the UK back into the 19th century where rich men were rich, and poor men were poor. The natural order how things should be, in their mind. Christ was right to say "It is difficult for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of God" -- because the thinking of these rich people is diametrically opposed to God's principles. Brexit in principle is not to blame for this, but it was used as a vehicle for greedy, corrupt people to con the Public. But they knew what they voted for, when they put that cross in the wrong box.
6
An union protecting its members. What an excellent idea! If you do not listen to your workers, those workers will walk away.
6
@playcloudpluspc Let me break the news to you: you have already lost your democracy. Only a small minority wanted Brexit to go the way it did, yet it does. Only a small minority wants the NHS treated the way it is, yet it was. A minority of voters voted Tory in the last GE, many more voted opposition, but Tory has a huge majority in Parliament. And I could go on. The 2019 GE was the last chance you had of keeping a form of democracy, and you let it slip. The UK will need to go through hell and back before you get another chance. I feel for you.
6
"By the open window next to Colonel Clumsy" Brilliant. Pure Gold.
6
Personally, this I think is one of the saddest developments highlighted by Brexit: the fall of the BBC. The whole Newsroom should be fired for failing to adhere to basic principles of journalism.
6
The EU understands the damage that shock changes bring to the economy. Therefor it is taking away financial services away from the City step by step. A major step is due for mid 2025, when the EU will move transaction clearance to within its borders. That will have a major effect on London.
5
"Depressive thoughts" Indeed. This is a difficult time for people with a heart. But you will get through, and Britain will be the better for it. Just keep emphasizing the lessons people need to learn.
5
Thank God Brexit is getting rid of so much red tape!
5
"Singapore on the Thames"
5
Nonsense. Scientists use models to predict effects all the time. You do not understand science, do you.
5
And use SI base units ONLY. And have a proper constitution. And have PR voting. And have an elected higher house or none at all. And where papers are punished for spreading lies. And where there is a separation of church and state. And where fox hunting is illegal. Brexit may well bring it all!
5
Hopefully, they will spring into action before starvation has weakened them to much. The little twats felt so strong and proud giving the finger to the EU. But they still don't realise their own government was taking abusing them all the time. Time for some painful lessons.
5
@dwhizzleentertainment588 If you think I defend the UK government, you are mistaken! But I am looking at cause-and-effect. The sleaze media have been surreptitiously corrupting the English mindset for at least 3 decades now, and I believe the current government is the result of it. Not the other way around. For example re-admittance to the EU will in part depend on how popular those tabloids remain. As long as they remain popular, the EU will know that the UK is still a liability.
5
Brexit will feature in economic, politicologic and sociologic text books for at least a century.
5
Farmers are discovering what blind, slavish trust will get them. Let the anger rise and hope they wake up before they have to sell their land. The Tories have betrayed them, and should suffer the consequences.
5
Bozo must like experimenting! First this massive economic experiment, now a public health one. Both with predictable outcomes: more suffering for the British population. You sure knew what you were voting for.
5
Truth is: humanity is interdependent on each other.
5
Finding out exactly who wanted Brexit and why will be the biggest challenge for Scotland Yard in the next decade. However, this behaviour of the tabloids will be a clue. Hopefully, the whole nest of corruption will be eradicated.
5
UK voters must have been really thick to need a Brexit to set them straight...
5
I would expect the Tories have a choice: to acknowledge the bad political & human choices they made that led to Brexit and truly repent of them, or to become totally irrelevant. For now, they are kicking the can down the road trying to hang on to power for a little time more. But that will not last.
5
Keep underlining the truth, Phil! In the end, all these lies will be acknowledged.
5
Good point re. the life-choices having less gravitas for the privileged. Reminds me of the Lord Farquaad quote: "Some of you may die, but that is a sacrifice I am willing to make".
5
Hear, hear. The UK was united through much Scottish and Irish blood.
5
"You can check out any time you like, but you can never leave..." But remember, that is not the EU's doing. The EU was happy to advice the UK on how to exit properly, but would they listen?
5
The EU is playing the long game. In the end, the UK needs to discover for itself how much it needs the EU. Playing hardball will only give the Tories more munitions to attack the EU, whereas letting the Tories play along will quickly show their lies and incompetence.
5
@lloydbelle3406 "many of the passengers did not vote for Captain Boris" True, but Brexit was not only due to the Tories. It is also a consequence of unfocused and uncommitted opposition. The EU has never had a champion in UK politics: anti-EU sentiments were allowed to fester, and no-one dared to mention its benefits. Brexit suffering has been well deserved by the UK as a whole. I hope they learn their lessons.
5
Pe Ba Perhaps because you under appreciate how important those minorities and facilities are for your nation? No worries, Brexit will teach you.
5
People, there seems to be someone impersonating Phil replying under his channel name and logo, but clicking on that account takes you to a different channel with 2 (!) subscribers and no uploads... Don't fall for it!
